I've never wore it. I'm more of an imperial light helm kinda guy.

Despite my avatar I'm not a big fan of horned helmets. I think Vriddi wore the one you find underneath Helgen Keep until she got to Riverwood then made herself something better.

Nope- however the game sure does "push" it at you. I think I see that helm lying around randomly soo much I could fill my house up to the ceiling with them.

Only reason I see to wear it throughout the game is if your are RP'ing Dovakiin or going iron the whole game.

I chuckled when I first saw it, and then immediately went back to light armor.

Actually, my current character is wearing one. He found an enchanted one that reduces conjuration costs significantly.

I'm wearing one right now, cause it has a +40 magicka enchantment. I've found a few steel helms, and one Dwarven helmet with a waterbreathing enchantment. My smithing skill is only about 30, so cant make much.

You guys might know this already, but that's Nord Hero Armor.
You can craft complete sets of it at Skyforge (but only once you have become Harbinger of the Companions).
Aela The Huntress wears it... nicely.
Lydia will look great in it too!
The female-specific version of this helm does not look exactly like that photo though (the iconic horns)...
It looks more like deer antlers "for her".

Actually, okay, let's be honest here.
Lydia looks smoking-hot in it... (made me forget all about Aela).

Anyway, it's great having differences in the male and female versions.
Then you can go out wearing the apparel and not look like the Bobbsey Twins...

The reason it's so common is probably that it's made of the most common material: Iron. And Beth couldn't be bothered to make more than one design per material type, which is just poor in my opinion. They could at least have made all the designs available in all the materials, i.e. you could make the Steel Plate Armor in Ebony if you so wished, but apparently that was too much work.

Anyway, I've worn it, but I prefer the Helm of Yngol or the Ancient Nord Helm. I think they're all cool. Right now I'm wearing all Steel Plate with the Horned Steel Helmet, which looks awesome. Best looking armor in the game.

Actually, im pretty sure thats the regular iron helmet. The helmet i *believe* your referring to is the ancient nord helmet, which looks similar, except for the fact that it looks like its made out of steel, the eye holes dont have any armor beneath them, the helmet is a little bigger, and the horns are longer, more curved, and comeout of the helmet at an angle.

I wear whatever offers the most protection, so when I find something better than what I have, I switch.

I always thought it looked a little silly. So never. But most of my characters never wear helmets or hoods anyway. It ruins their hair! :)

Yeah, I wear it when I eat breakfast, when I go to work, and when I play Skyrim.
Nah, just kidding. I don't have a job.
