Your characters personality

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 2:39 am

I know most of you guys have a certain way of playing out your characters. So, let's hear them.

My newest character is a stealth-type, and as I'd call it; A thief with empathy.

I steal from rich people. I kill bandits. I keep the roads safe from Imperials. I bestow vengeance upon NPC's who deserve it.

But I always give gold to people in need. I never kill an honest worker, since my food or my blade might come from his hand. I reverse pickpocket better equipment to travelers so they can defend themselves. And I always aid in a battle if it's unfair.

I work in the shadows, and are mostly called a thief by the people around me. But that's ok. When I see the people I help surviving due to my actions, that's payment enough.

Redguard thief -- I see this character as kind of an outsider who has decided to prove himself by becoming a master thief and professional adventurer. His main goal is exploits and glory. He supports the Empire because he sees that rationally they protect Skyrim from being overrun by the elves, but he doesn't feel any emotional loyalty to the Empire. He doesn't trust Ulfric or like the "Skyrim for the Nords" thing. He wants everyone to know his name and recognize that he is powerful. He is happy to be the Dragonborn and quite proud of it.

Breton mage -- This character is very nice, rather timid, but is fascinated by magic and lore. She collects weird objects and wants to learn every spell. She wants a big library of rare books. She never kills animals or eats meat. She likes solving mysteries. She supports the Stormcloaks naively because she thinks they must be the good guys, because they are fighting for their home. She likes rebels and underdogs. She is rather puzzled to be the Dragonborn and thinks maybe there is some kind of mistake.

Orc death-knight -- This guy is kind of a jerk. He just takes what he wants and doesn't let anyone stand in his way. He feels loyalty to Orcs and dislikes everyone else. Anyone who causes trouble, like the Forsworn, the Stormcloaks, or bandits, he feels a need to crush and destroy. He supports the Empire because he thinks people should follow the rules and do what they are told. He likes making stuff with his hands, and for that reason he respects the Dwemer, and likes anything related to the Dwarves. This also gives him an antipathy to the Falmer, as if he needed an excuse. He doesn't care about being the Dragonborn and refuses to do what is required of him.

In every incarnation I just play me- Or how I think I would be if this was real life.

I`l admit in some cases I am not really me, for example, if someone ran up to me in real life and said, "I lost a precious family item in a cursed cave, get it for me!" I`d probably say, "Get it yourself, i`ve more important things to do."

Bresm Shadowblade - Vampiric Bosmer Thief/Assassin: After I accidentally saved over my more heroic Breton Mage (woops), I decided to make this meaner guy, who's sort of a remake of my fav of my Oblivion characters. Bresm left Valenwood for an unknown reason and traveled around Tamriel, eventually ending up getting caught crossing the border to Skyrim, but being saved from execution by the attack on Helgen. Bresm despises most humans (the primary exceptions are the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood), especially Nords, and as such he doesn't have many qualms about stealing from or even killing humans. He's more neutral towards other races, but ruthless enough that he'll steal from or kill them if they have something he wants. Because he doesn't care for Nords, there's no way he's siding with the Stormcloaks. He may side with The Empire as a way (RP-wise) of getting into their good graces, but he doesn't particularly like them either. He doesn't much care about saving the world, but enjoys the power of the Thu'um. He's of course no completely heartless though, and he prefers not to steal or kill people who have nothing (unless they're really annoying >.>).

Eventually I'll remake my mage when I want to play a more heroic character.

My Redguard mage is methodical and purposful, as well as rebellious at heart. I play him as a collector of dwemer antiquities, a supporter of the Stormcloaks, the guy with a plan for everything. Once I can safely put things down his home is getting redecorated with all the dwemer bits and bobs he's saved.

My Kajiiti soldier is quick-acting but naive, and also mindful of racist views of his people. He's an Imperialist because it's "proper", he kills skooma dealers and gets rid of the skooma. Best and most fun I've had with him was delving into a ruin, running in as deep as I could go as two or three groups of inhabitants fought each other, then I fought my way out, leveling to 10 on the way. It was fun getting in over my head, but getting out with a set of Falmer armor and a new passion started, collecting their ears, was worth it.

My Paladin is a philanthropist, I relate him to Ramza from FFT.

He hunts the Undead, Daedra, and Thalmor with a righteous fury that scorches the very earth.

And if there's people that need saving, hes always there to help

Imprerial Mage:A righteous hero and a monster slayer.

Breton Warrior/Werewolf:A good person that feels guilty for his crimes as a werewolf. Every time there's a full moon he transforms into a werewolf and goes into a rampage...

My Altmer Mage is an eccentric Dwemner ruin explorer, hoping to uncover the real reason for their mysterious disappearance he has not accepted his Dragonborn blood and is staying clear of the civil war.

My Nord 2 handed warrior was returning home after word got to him that his family was killed by imperial marauders, he has unwavering faith in Ulfric's views and plans for Skyrim. He has accepted that he is Dragonborn and has used his sparetime to follow the greybeards direction. He feels the shouts he collects can be well used against the imperial scum.

My Dunmer Assassain is a quiet, helpful armorer during the daylight hours, only spending time outside of the city searching the land for abandoned mines to gather ore, but during the dark hours he switches to a slient, unforgiving, slayer of men or mer for the Brotherhood.

My Dunmer is borderline insane, because he's the Nerevarine from Morrowind, still alive due to corprus immortality. He still tries to be a decent guy for the most part, but having lived so many lifetimes and seen so much death, he places very little value on individual lives. Essentially, he's a somewhat less reclusive Divayth Fyr, minus the pet project.

Bosmer Archer/Adventurer/Mercenary - My character is of good character, in that he never harms those that don't deserve it. He looks for monetary gain by clearing caves, forts, and the like. A treasure hunter if you will. He is a member of The Companions and currently at Level 13. He has helped to slay but one dragon so far. He lives at Breezehome, which he has comfortably furnished with his earnings to date, in Whiterun with his Housecarl, Lydia. All perks so far have been spent on Archery, Light Armor, and Stealth. His next task is to climb the 7,000 steps to find out why he is called "Dragonborn"...

This is my first, and only, Skyrim character to date...

Brigid Keltinga - A true daughter of Skyrim. She is fiercely loyal to Ulfric and wants to see Skyrim united under the rule of a true Nord King. She fights Imperials when ever and where ever they rear their ugly heads. Most of the time, she's an in-your-face with dual Daedric blades and only sneaks when she must. However, there are a few points Ulfric makes, she doesn't agree with: Skyrim should be a land where different races can live without persecution. She never walks past a beggar, but always finds the time to hand out a septim.

She is fearless and can be cold just like her native land. The things she has done and seen, some would shudder at the details...
Currently, she holds leadership positions in all the guilds and is Thane of many Holds. She owns various houses, but currently resides in Windhelm with her husband Vorstag.

Diana Artorius: A true Imperial, law abiding citizen and loyal to the Empire. Her story is just beginning, because her Imperial Ancestor mysteriously vanished (deleted), while on a daring mission. Now, she will have a chance to prove herself and hopefully she won't repeat her ancestors mistakes (glitches). Maybe she will do things differently or maybe she will veer off her chosen path and become one with the shadow forces...

I always try to use a different fighting technique with each character, but I'm hopelessly drawn to and stuck with One-handed weapons! They are fast, agile and yet fit my in-your-face style lol

My very, very first toon was a Breton, but then I wanted to join the Stormcloaks and so I thought I make a true Nord Woman! So, the Breton got scraqed at lvl 20ish. Then came Brigid, my Nord Woman, she's lvl 56 now and completed all the campaigns. I still play here, since there are still Barrows I have to discover and explore.

Then I played an other Imperial, but she suffered from a weird glitch and I really never liked her (Sibilla Romulus). So, now I started over with a new Imperial. I love starting over! Starting from scratch, earning my way in the world, scraping money together for that next potion, or better weapon, smithing my gear and feeling proud at my accomplishments!

Anyway, yup, I'm addicted to Skyrim! lol

After trying many builds and playstyles and experimenting with guilds, the MQ, various skill trees and a bunch of RP background ideas (a process that consumed several fun and interesting weeks), here is what I arrived at:

My character is a Nord who was slated to be executed by the Imperials simply for gathering food too close to what turned out to be a Stormcloak meeting place. My character, prior to that, was loyal to the Empire. So, now my character feels completely disenfranchised from the Empire and my character already disagreed with the Stormcloaks. When my character emerged from the dungeons of Helgen, Ralof ran to Riverwood and my character ran the other way. I clicked off the MQ and haven't advanced it since.

My playstyle is pseudo-realistic: no FT, no wait button, no potion/food spam mid-battle, most eating is during downtime, no playing like my character is a Uhaul van capable of carrying 10 extra pieces of armor and 20 weapons, etc. Items I want to save (mostly crafting items, which I will use much later in the game, if ever) are stored in the wardrobe of the riverside shack. My character is an explorer, not a home owner.

The driving themes for my character are survival, personal morality and exploration.

With regards skills, my character focuses on 2H weapons, blocking, heavy armor, restoration, stealth and archery. Since discovering the Steed Stone that has been the sign used.

Played this way, I love this game. It's challenging, interesting, and adventurous.

First and only character so far: Male Nord. Half blind former warrior who begrudgingly served the empire, but he deserted after being blinded in his right eye by some Imperial scum who was supposed to be his comrade. At that point he saw the Imperials and the Elves as the enemy that needs to be stamped out at all costs.

Using threats and intimidation to get his way seems to work pretty good. Having a silver tongue doesn't concern him; when you threaten them with their lives they will change their tune and do whatever you want. When threats don't work, he lets his blade do the talking. At that point all arguments cease to exist.

As an Outlaw, a true 1%er if you will, he takes what he wants, when he wants. If it's already owned, he removes the owner and takes it anyway. Mead and Skooma addict, and a Daedra worhipper, but not Mehrunes Dagon or Namira. No sir, he blames Mehrunes Dagon and the Mythic dawn for the fall of the empire that he once had hopes of returning to it's former glory. Now Namira, well let's just say that even though he may be an evil sadistic bastard who does whatever he damn well pleases, he draws the line somewhere...and that's where he draws the line.

Sonja is in limbo on the cloud at level 54. She is a fanatical believer in having Skyrim ruled by a true Nord king. She joined the Stormcloaks early on. She considered it fated by the gods when after given the quest to kill the ice wraith to prove herself, that the gods sent a wolf to kill the ice wraith for her. She has a home in both Whiterun and in Riften. She has wiped out the Markarth city guard several times with her powerful shout. She married, and Farkas crashed the wedding and got attached to her permanently and won't disappear so the game save in on teh Microsoft Cloud awaiting the patch that repairs Farkas' faction (the game is seeing him as a hostile guard and loyal companion).

So I started Kamila now lvl 14. She is a Nord thief/one-handed fighter who has not made up her mind whether to join the Stormcloaks or the Imperials. Interesting how the dialogue has changed. She, too, is a Companion, a werewolf, smells like a wet dog, and has Lydia for a follower. Still not enough for a house in Whiterun. Skills invested in Smithing, One-handed, Lockpicking, Sneak, Light Armor, Speech, Block. Racist against Altmer.

Well... I've not liked the Altmer since Morrowind anyway.

My main character is a study in the whole "power corrupts" theme. He started off like a Paladin with a lot of self-restrictions [the greatest of which was never "soul capture"] He never attacked first and only fought when there was no other choice.

Later on, "for the good of the people" he started exploring magics and eventually started capturing souls ... but only to give him & his companions the weapons & armors needed to fight evil.

Not to drag things out the former Paladin is now engaging in wholesale slaugher of anything that will fit into a Grand [Black] Soul Gem :)

My Breton Mage was born with a fascination for magic, and the forces in the world that are somewhat hidden. Now he is an old, crumbled man who has lived most of his life already, dedicating his life to the lore of magic. He has once owned a great library, filled with wonderous books of many sorts. But because of political struggle, malicious tongues and backstabbing, he lost all his posessions. His mage tower was torched to the ground and he was forced to live concealed and underground for so many years that his knowledge of magic got somewhat lost. All that was left was his raw notion of the magical force, and a will do discover the lost art of the ancient times again.

I play an extremly evil altmer mage. The first thing he did as an arch mage of the College of Winterhold was to use his magic to force the students to fight eachother. He then proceeded to kill the winners. Later the same day he stumbled uppon a small village called Ivarstead. He killed everyone in it, except some strangely essential farmer whom he Fus Roh Dah'd into the river. He thinks about no other than himself. He never completes any quests he considers "good". If someone asks him for help he just kills them. If he walks by a cave, he has to check it out. And kill everyone inside. But other than that he's a calm person who likes to pick flowers to make potions of.

My character is a Nord ranger, he uses destruction for traps/runes, archery, heavy armor and one handed. A former imperial legionnaire, he deserted after the empire agreed to the White Gold concordat and fled to Skyrim after hearing about the Stormcloak rebellion. He wishes to exact revenge on the Thalmor and Imperials for disgracing mankind.

He will do any task, acquire any form of power, join any organization whether good or evil and gain their support against the Thalmor and Empire.

My newest char is still becoming whatever it is she'll be as I'm early in the game. She's clearly a chaotic good but the jury is still out on a lot of things until more plays out. I'll give her background and let you decide for yourself.

Annick - Female Nord (see sig)

Annick is a good hearted mischievous sort. She was always a bit of a rule breaker as a kid but never a delinquent or criminal. She'd rebel against authority/teachers if she believed they were wrong or unjust. She never tolerated bullies and would jump into the fray to defend a weak kid without a second thought. She was mostly considered a "good child" at home and at school if a bit of a smart ass.

A dark haired beauty born into a noble family, she never felt comfortable in the "society" circles they moved in. She was much more interested in sword play (to her mother's horror) than the mandatory social events where her mother flaunted her (in hopes of landing "a good man from the right family"). No matter how handsome or dashing the man, Annick was rarely interested (although one time she found her heart racing in the presence of the sister of a would be suitor......something she found very confusing).

While her family life was very good, despite the constant battle of wills with her mother, Annick left home at 14 "to be an adventurer" (Besides being a little spoiled, she was very naive). Inside a week, she was looking at the business end of a bandit’s sword and a best case scenario of being robbed of everything she had (worst case, losing her virtue and being left for dead). The lucky (and foolish) girl got a get out of jail free card as a group of hunters just happened on the scene.

The hunters, Nords from a tiny nearby village, took the badly shaken girl back home to have the healer check her out. The kindly middle aged woman (Gisela) and her husband (Egon), the town blacksmith, insisted on Annick staying with them until she was "back on her feet" (there was actually nothing wrong with her other than being terrified and drained of confidence). Too proud to go home but afraid to get back on the road she ended up staying with the couple for 3 years. She learned to enjoy manual labor, helping the neighbors with farming, helping Egon with smithing and collecting ingredients for Gisela (Annick fell in love with alchemy very quickly).

The charismatic Annick quickly made friends in her new home although she no longer had the problem of all the young men lining up to court her. In spite of her beauty, the proud Nord teenage boys in the village had no interest in a girl who could whip them (or at least give them all they want) in sword play (her already impressive skills had flourished under the tutelage of Egon). This was a relief to Annick as she was still, for a reason she didn't understand, not interested.

She also became a devout worshipper of Talos and a staunch supporter of Ulfric and the Stormcloaks as she became exposed to the realities of oppression in the world outside her sheltered life. This led to a growing resentment for the Empire and Elves and an outright hatred for the Thalmor.

On the unfortunate day that a Legion platoon came through the village, Gisela and Annick were discovered caring for a wounded Stormcloak soldier during a door to door search. Gisela was dragged from her home into the street in front of her terrified friends, family and neighbors, and after a good slapping, informed that the only way she could save herself from the chopping block was to give the location of all the traitors that were being harbored.

Annick only said one word to the captain "sir?" to get him to turn away from Gisela. As he switched his gaze to the 17 year old lass, he caught a (surprisingly hard) punch in the mouth. Annick was quickly kicked to the ground and arrested. As she was loaded into a wagon, the young men in town started to revolt. Annick rode away in a wagon headed for Helgen sitting with Nord men she had never met, their hands bound like hers. She could see the smoke of her burning village in the distance.

We all know what happened at Helgen.

Annick is funny, good natured, a bit of a smart mouth and very well liked virtually by anyone she meets. Although she's not as friendly to Elves, she never robs anyone of their dignity and at least makes an effort to be civil to them (so far, she seems to have no issue with Dark Elves).

Thalmor and Legion troops will meet the business end of her blade if they oppress anyone in her presence (that includes having a prisoner, especially a Nord).

Annick is currently the Thane of Whiterun (although she has landed in jail a few times for punching guards for running "Sweet roll" and "Mead fetching" smack at her) and a new member of the Companions. While she has recently acquired the blood of the beast, she doesn't use the power as she finds "waking up" naked and unarmed both unsettling and embarrassing. Annick has not gotten directly involved with the civil war yet although that is certainly inevitable. She has recently discovered she may be "Dragonborn" but so far has resisted walking the 7000 steps (in part because a recent "drinking contest" has found her waking up in a strange far away city where adventure after adventure has presented itself).

Still no boyfriend. Still confused on these matters.

I have two characters so far:

The first is a Khajiit called Sporreen. He is a laid-back kind of guy, who is always willing to help out. He loves salmon, and is fascinated by waterfalls. He also enjoys riding down said waterfalls. Sometimes he even tries to catch some salmon as he falls over a waterfall  He is very fond of Lydia, who is his main friend right now. Although he gets on well with most people he meets, he spends so much time adventuring and being 'dragonborn' that he has little time to make friends. Sporreen could be considered a little eccentric (I suppose waterfall-riding' isn't really a common hobby), but he means well and can be serious when he needs to be.

My second character is an Imperial called Judas. He came from a poor family, and after his last relative died, he chose to travel to Skyrim in the hope of starting a new life. The only thing that has kept him going through hard times is the journal of his ancestor, Stav (one of my Oblivion characters  ), from which he learned of the Dark Brotherhood. He has always wanted to follow his ancestors footsteps and join the brotherhood, and has recently fulfilled that wish. He has also recently met a woman, Muiri, and is baffled at the emotions he is feeling towards her. Judas is a man of very few words, causing others to see him as 'brooding' or 'mysterious', but in fact he just chooses to only say what needs to be said and leave it at that.

I'm bound to make more characters soon enough (in fact, I already have one in mind...), so when I do I'll post about them as well
