Your dream build (that skyrim doesn't currently support)

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 2:06 pm

Mine is a bow ranger who uses and abuses poisons and traps. He would be able to craft bear traps, fish nets that he could come back to later to collect fish, oil traps (that he could explode from afar with his bow), caltrops, etc.. He would also be able to track creatures and gain combat bonuses against them.

An actual D&D ranger.

Or any racial archetype that has any meaning that stands out from the rest.

A thief that can get into a house with more than one option on getting in there. Examples of these options include jumping into the house through a window, finding a secret door that is very well hidden, finding a few loose parts of the roof and creating a new entrance, and even breaking in Santa Clause style(maybe that could be a new kind of thief... Santa Stealth Man). Climbing with ropes if in danger of being caught could also be included. Maybe even using illusions that could confuse the owners like making them think dead people are haunting them.

I'd love to see something Sly Cooperish like using bent canes or bent staves to pickpocket. Also, being able to bug places with some sort of vibration creating object or a bug that can be used for the same purpose... That reminds me, time to quote Sly 2. "So we bug his office with a bug?"

Disguises could be used when in military bases.

Wouldn't it be nice to have to sneak over the wall of a city as a Khajiit just to get in?

An acrobat/cat burglar/second-story man.

I always liked the description of the Acrobat class in Oblivion/Morrowind, but was always disappointed that neither game truly supported the ledgewalking, climbing, dextrous thief archetype. Needless to say, Skyrim is even less supportive of this playstyle.

Hell, in Thief, which came out in 98 I think, you could 'mantle' onto ledges (climbing), and use rope/vine arrows to get vertical. You could also lean out around corners to take a peek without giving away your position. What I wouldn't give to see more games using those features!

I'd also love to see some kind of 'Survival' skill, to do like the OP mentioned and track or set traps like a true ranger.

That would be nice. There could also be other options like the obvious bribing. I love climbing over walls in Daggerfall, though.

I know, I'm hoping they make an appearance in some dlc.

Though it might be more of a tease than anything, if the rest of the stealth game isn't up to par (which it won't be, obviously, compared to Thief).

Oh, and a fast-talking, sharp-dealing, intelligent con-man. Or some approximation thereof.

"Bard" might be another way of saying the above.

Speech got neutered in Skyrim. I was not expecting that. Speechcraft in Oblivion was fairly useless, but Fallout 3 had some (albiet few) good uses for the skill. I figured Skyrim would have even more speech challenges. Sadly, that's not the case. There's basically no way to play a bard as a result, without some serious stretching of the imagination/rp.

My thief is a smooth talker. Only within the game's limits, sadly.

They basically stomped their foot on Speech's junk.

Super Saiyan- a hand-to-hand fighter, has the ability to make super big jumps (acrobatics), can launch a beam of energy from his hands (shout). He would have blonde pointy hair...

Also I'd like a character whose primary skill would be speech. This would have been more realistic if quests would set up similar to F:NV, where nearly everyone had a speech check that could allow the player to avoid more confrontations.

A Bound Axe wielding caster, I would like to be able to cast a one handed Destruction spell without having to recast Bound Axe/Bow every single time. I do not like power levelling Enchanting to get free casting to be able to do something like summoning a new Familiar or recasting Armor and Cloak spells while having a Bound two handed weapon.
EDIT I would like a Bound Weapon to be treated like a Normal Weapon from the time it is cast to the end of the cast, equipping a spell should not cancel a Bound Weapon.

Sword master/duelist. A style that is heavily based on in combat mobility/dodging, parries, striking weak points...deflecting and countering attacks, and weapon prowess over *swing* *swing* *swing* *power swing*.

lol!

good luck with that. we'll be waiting decades for that.

that would require a complete combat overhaul and quality a.i.. what were you thinking?

i agree with this the smithing and enchanting mechanics in skyrim ruin the game, these should not be skills because for one it unbalances the game for users that dont want to use these. Also perks should have more diversion instead of increase damage "which leveling up the skill should give you anyways" oblivions way of doing this was infinitely better

Want birthsigns back. Yeah, standing stones are good if you have a change of heart, but there is no character creation consequences. I love the buffs for the new standing stones (minus the starting three...I hate experiance boosts as it makes leveling quicker and I LOVE the long game), but there was something more defining about your character when he was born under a certains star, a destiny to fulfill, fate to tempt.

Basically, I want the older creation style back so I can make the builds I want.

Still love Skyrim though, AMAZING game. Skyrim >Morrowind> Oblivion
