Over all, the absolute best weapon in the game is Boone.

All said and done, Mysterious Magnum. Any gun with it's own theme music pretty much nails it in the awesome category.

BTW- I'm level 30 so I've tried about everything out there.

My favorite weapon; Boone and whatever he's using.

Now for myself, the Ratslayer or a fully modded varmint rifle with AP ammo.

All American hands down. I've had it since I was level 10 and still use it currently at lvl 24. Incredible accuracy combined with a high powered scope for long range sneak crits, and insane ROF for those CQC moments makes for an incredibly versatile weapon.

I started using the sniper rifle modded with a silencer recently and it only sees use when I need the raw power against a tough opponent at range. I'm beginning to like it a lot since there is very few baddies it can't kill with one sneak crit even on very hard. I just wish the carbon fiber mod wasn't bugged cause its weight is a big downside without the mod.

As far as shotguns go, I can't decide between the riot shotgun and the hunting shotgun. Both have their strengths and weaknesses for different situations.

There's a lot of good pistols to choose from, but I don't have a favorite since I only use pistols for holdout weapons.

Haven't used heavy guns or energy weapons this play through.

And that's all I can think of right now. I love most of them.

Fully modded sniper rifle with JSP ammo. If for some reason enemies get close to me, I switch over to the All American. If the All American doesn't finish them off, I pull out my Riot Shotgun loaded with slugs.

For some reason I love the 10mm SMG. There is just a sort of visceral satisfaction I get filling fiends full of holes with it. Always low on bullets, though ...

In order of preference. Note: because of Meltdown Perk EW cannot be used at close range; that means Riot Shotgun for all close quarters combat.

2. Anti-Materiel Rifle with Incendiary rounds

4. Riot Shotgun with Mag rounds
5. Plasma Caster w/accelerator mod and MC cells
6. Grenade Machine Gun with HE rounds for nobs and hiding enemies
7. AER14 prototype with MC cells (for plinking)

My PC has all these slotted and just for fun occasionally swaps in:
40mm Grenade Launcher with HE ammo
CZ57 Avenger with HP ammo
Gatling Laser with MC Cells
Tesla-Beaton Prototype with MC Cells

Gobi Sniper rifle and Machete Gladius or Pushy.

The Marksman and Assault Carbines. What can I say? I have a love affair with the AR-15 model.

If only there were more mods for these weapons...

oh and for some reason (PS3 version) I can't change the ammo for it. It's stuck on hollow point, even though I have over 500 regular rounds of .308 ammo.. tried everything and it's the only gun I have where I can't change the ammo. it's very odd.

energy = pulse gun any bot is dead wit one hit also great in anyone waring power armor

melee = the super sledge

explosives = C4 chase me now . Run a way drop a c4 charge get clear turn and detonate and watch the baddie fly over you ... or atleast pieces of him

Ballistic Fist. There just isn't anything like uppercutting a full grown man, killing him in the process, and watching him launch high in the air in a shower of sparks.

My favorites include the Trail Carbine, Anti Material rifle, and the 44cal pistol. Unfortunately, as much as I like the appearance of many of the energy weapons, they are quite underwhelming. They are seriously lacking oomph. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

Have you tried dropping all of your .308 ammo into a container in your "home", firing off any that tries to stay in the gun and then picking up only the ammo you want to use? That might force the issue.

The Modified Winchester P94 Plasma Rifle (AKA Plasma Caster with Plasma Caster HS Electrode modification).

Fun to use but too many targets get blown into/thru walls/rocks, etc by the knockdown effect.

There are other guns with other upsides, but to date nothing has taken the "my favorite" spot from the Hunting Revolver. Only way anything will would be to add a plain Hunting Revolver without a scope. No, the Ranger Sequoia doesn't cut it- it may have more damage, but an unscoped Hunting Revolver would be my BFR.
