Exactly this... 7/10 as well for its beauty and sheer amount of content. However as others said, it lacks a "soul" aka these elements these people are refering to. And for the same reason it wasn't as addicting for me as the previous TES. Can still feel the addiction of daggerfall, morrowind, fallout, even oblivion and how they absorbed me in the game. However this did not happen with Skyrim. It "got old, fast".
See how many people ask how to get immersed in the game more easily? This did not happen with previous titles. A game is supposed to absorb you on its own - every exceptional game does that - you shouldn't make an effort to get absorbed into it. If you do, boredom is not far behind.
This is spot on for me, It's as if the poster read my mind(not all of it, minus the part where Halle Berry washed my car naked) & summed up exactly what battle i have been fighting with Skyrim, A long & bloody battle with moments of joy & heartache.
Oblivion absorbed me as did Fallout 3, New vegas to a lesser extent(atmosphere) but i was still swept up & feeling it's vibe, Happened with ME1 & ME2(Not as much as ME1) & i remember being at one with these games & the worlds they created.
I'm just not getting on with Skyrim, I'm doing all the legwork & trying all kinds of builds & characters but after 600 hours i just find it completely & utterly souless, Breaks my heart to admit defeat & to admit it to myself.
It's a great game & takes it's place up there in my top 6, However me & Skyrim just don't see eye to eye.
