Your techniques to stay awake all night long

Coffee, music, video games. They're the magic three.

And it seems like you already have one of those covered :)

If this forum is any indicator, watch hundreds of My Little Pony episodes and start posting.

I've never really had to rely on caffeine/sugar/etc. to stay awake. If I know I need to stay awake for something (project deadlines, travel, etc) I have no problems doing it. The next night will be an early night though. :)

I'd never want to stay awake. Would ruin my performance in the gym. :P Besides, I like sleeping too much.

I've been up for 25 hours or so now. Coffee and energy drinks helped, but I honestly don't feel that tired.

Drinking an energy drink is a super expensive, super inefficient way of getting caffeine into your system in comparison to taking a single caffeine pill. In the more stressful parts of this semester I would have to drink 2-3 energy drinks a day just to keep up with the workload. Caffeine pills are thought of as kind of taboo in our society as everyone freaks out at the sight of the word "pill," but they're actually much healthier alternatives to energy drinks because you aren't putting all that extra crap in your body just to get the jolt from the caffeine. I got past that taboo and my wallet's never been happier.

Don't care about the rest of the crap your saying(not saying it is untrue), but energy drinks are expensive? What? LOL. Here a 1 litre bottle of Red Rain(Red Bull knock off) energy drink costs $2.99. Cans of Red Rain cost 99 cents, Monster energy, and Lost Energy costs 1.79 for a big can. Nos energy comes in a 500 ml bottle and costs a 75 cents. Seriously how much do they cost over where you live? Here they are so cheap that little kids can afford them.

Having a lot of fun works.

I have no trouble staying up as long as I'm entertained. Boredom makes me sleepy.

There have been some studies and experts suggest the best approach is to do the following:

When you are starting to fade, slam some coffee or diet coke and take a 20-30 min nap. As soon as your alarm goes off, the caffeine will be in your system (takes 20-30 min).

The My Little Pony threads have pretty much kept me up for 48 hours straight. I recommend them.

Adderall, an amphetemine perscribed for A.D.D and narcolepsy. Consult your mental health physician and insist on Adderall, or they'll try to push the Ritalin on you. But you know what? You got really bad A.D.D/narcolepsy and it's the only thing that helps. Dont forget that doctor [name here] perscribed it for you in the past and it's allll good. Coke and pepsi is for small children. If you want to stay awake for days and nights, Adderall's the only way to fly.

He said in comparison.

There's around 300mg of caffeine (not to mention other junk) in your 1 liter bottle of Red Rain that costs $2.99.

I checked a pharmacy website, and you can get a box of 16 200mg tablets for $4.49.

Getting my zzzz's is more important to me than playing a video game. I probably wouldn't be able to enjoy the game if I was sleep deprived and feeling like crap. And any enjoyment would be overshadowed by the negative physical consequences of not sleeping. When I'm tired, I perform poorly at hand-eye coordination. And the caffeine might make you think you are awake, but it isn't a substitute for rest - your body still knows you are sleep deprived.

Monster shots, Red Bull shot or Rockstar shots works for me. The 5-hour energy ones don't seem to last as long as the other ones. Being around other people and keep moving around helps. When I'm alone or still I get bored and usually sleepy

Yep. Around here, there aren't a lot of energy drink choices in regular stores (that's San Francisco for you), so I had to basically decide between $2.50 per can of Monster and $3-$3.50 per can of Red Bull. I payed about $10 for a bottle of 50 caffeine pills, so I'd say that's a pretty big price difference.

Do something that I find interesting. I can stay up just watching Whose Line is it Anyway clips or episodes of Scrubs/The Office.
