your thoughts on opening another region as DLC?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 12:10 am

just taking a shot in the dark here, but is skyrim even capable of adding a whole new region as a peice of DLC?

would you guys like to see another region opened up in skyrim?
if so which region would you like to see opened up? Hammerfell? High Rock?

i dont know guys, after i seen those gates that are at the borders, it got me speculating alot that this would one day open up and let us in that region "as DLC"

but the question on my lips is: would this defeat the purpose of skyrim being in SKYRIM only?

although, thinking about High Rock being opened up is a dreamy thought.

please share your opinions on whether or not Hammerfell or High rock should or should not be opened up

if not, would you like ot suggestion another region? oblivion planes?

i was also thinking of a huge quest line that could go along with Skyrim and another region here me out:
after helping the Empire, the white gold concordat is broken in some way and the new enemies are the thalmor "which could be situated in Hammerfell or High Rock". battles take place in both regions and especially some sea combat around solitude.

after helping the stormcloaks, the empire momentarily ceases to fight to lick their wounds, the thalmore are now going to invade skyrim to get rid of the stormcloaks and ulfric once and for all

or.... you can join the thalmor in taking over skyrim...?

so many possibilities! please speculate with me!

Well they said they'd be the same size as the Shivering Isles, and that was pretty much an entire new area. So if I we're a betting man, I'd think very hard about betting on them opening up a few of those gates since there is a possibility of it happening.

EDIT: Oblivion Planes are out of the question. You can no longer opening a gate to Oblivion

Id like to revisit the remnants of Morrowind. That could be very powerful indeed...

They haven't said anything like that. They said they wanted DLCs to feel more like expansion packs, but nothing regarding a new landmass.

Yes you can, how could you summon daedra then?
It's not working the other way around though, so daedric princes can't open Oblivion gates without any help from Mundus.

I don't think there's any chance of us seeing an entire new province in DLC. Then the game being called 'Skyrim' would not be justified. If anything we will se a smaller area. My money's on Orsinium.

It's probably possible, though I don't think they'll be opening them up.

unfortunatly this is what i personally think which is nattering away at the back of my head.

money-wise i believe bethesda will release every new elderscrolls in each region to extend profibilitaly of the elderscrolls so they are insured of money for years to come. adding a whole new region in skyrim might mean that its one less elderscrolls released in the future?

i dont know but if i was the guy in the business aspect of this, i would totally have a new elder scrolls for each new region. but my heart is telling me they should open up a region in skyrim :'(

Entire province - no, but a part of it - it's possible.

At least a new Daedric Realm like Shivering Isles. Hircine's Realm is mentioned in the game. Maybe we get to join the fight between Sovengarde and the Lycans

Jerall Mountains could be included in the Expansion, I wouldn't mind visiting abandomed and decayed CRT.

I'd sure like to see a new area, but I'm not entirely sure the first DLC will have something like that.
A new questchain, and a few new gameplay elements (crossbows, spears, mounted combat) would suffice, I think.

same, i believe that dawnguard will just be a new quest with new weapons etc and more association with vampires.

never liked being a vampire, everyone hates you and eventually everyone will want to kill you so you can't mingle in the bannered mare anymore :'(

i think there will be more tombs, a vampire boss fight and maybe JUST maybe... a vampire city built inside of the mountains, away from the sunlight... like dwemmer ruins but a whole new revamp and new look on buildings inside.

kinda, but with a bit more stuff and longer. mehrunes razor was really short imo and it was quite boring, after you got the weapon. that was it... there was nothing to make it beneficial towards the game. however with a new city imbedded into the mountains would add a whole new replayable element to skyrim

I would be happy with ANY Vampire, Lycan, or Falmer content for the DLC...im getting really jittery not knowing what the DLC is about. So a new area is fine as long as there is some new stuff in it

same here
i would love to see some new "vampire-esque" armour and weapons in it, it would look like daedric but far less clunky and more stealthy looking... probably some headware that protects you from being recognised as a vampire back in skyrim? or it protects you from the sun taking away some perks?

OHHHHH THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!

Might be that they will utilize some of the game jam. That giant crab boss might be controlled by the Sloads as part of an invasion from the sea? I dont think we will see Summerset until ES6 but who knows :)

If i have to bet i would say High Rock,Summerset Isle or a part of Morrowind/Hammerfell/Valenwood.

But if we could have deeper contents and better Rpg mechanics even a Dlc settled in Skyrim in another era - and with events/land seen from another perspective - would be ideal for me.
