100% pacifist playthrough

My general rule is: if I got exp for it, I killed it or directly contributed to its death.

Understandable. I'd turn off companion xp if I could honestly. Since I can't, I'll just have to forgive myself for the extra xp I'm getting. I see no reason to alter the RP rules I laid out for myself at the beginning of the game.

Heh, Medicine is one of the only skills I haven't maxed yet, so you could say I'm earning xp from patching up my crazy companions after their fights anyway :P

As for what pacifism "really is", who cares? All any of us are doing is laying out a new ruleset that we will find fun for playing the game. I do think vendur's rules are a little weird, and I'm sure he thinks mine are a little weird. Personally I find the contrasts interesting reading. None of us have to be doing it "right" or "wrong".

Actually it might be a neat idea for each of us to lay out our rules as concisely as possible. If I didn't have to get back to work I'd try making a bullet list. Maybe later today.

You can complete the MQ with no killing if you go with NCR or Independent. Your problem is going to be the fight with the Legate. I have no idea whether or not you can just... um... "beanbag" him (that sounds so wrong). I'm pretty sure you either have to kill him or talk your way out of it.

You can talk him out of the fight with speech 90.

I thought it required 100.

So you CAN call for help from the Radio: you just telling the rangers to clean some raider from the area.....

No, the radio is cheating because I control the trooper/ranger. In a sense, I'm ordering them to help me, and invariably killing someone. Would the trooper/ranger I called in have been there if I didn't make that call? Nope. In this example, i was the one being requested by the NCR to accomplish something. Then sent troops to ensure I got the job done safely, and I just helped them overachieve is all.

You probably had naughty nightware on or whatever they are called.

Kind of a funny endgame sequnce. Big tough legion general is swayed by a man only because he wears some loepard skin undies. hah.
