100% pacifist playthrough

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 1:19 am

I think this is going to be my next character. I guess companions are fine to keep bak in town or something, but cant be taken along because they will invariably kill something. Very hard mode to make it even more challenging. I think I'm going to go with 50 in melee so i can use knockknock on crowds to either run away or knock them out cold with goldengloves/cattleprod. Travel light to make my get-aways/out run enemies. I suspect turbo will be my best friend in the really tough quests.

Obviously I won't be able to compolete any quests that directly involve killing people, but it will be interesting to see just how much stuff I can get done.

I found that most quests that you would think require fighting can be circumvented with high SPECIAL stats and skills in non-combat related areas. High INT, CHA, PER, LUCK and you can get past a ton of stuff that you would normally have to fight. Sneak is handy and since you are not fighting you do not really have to worry about armor modifiers low AGI is not as much of an issue. A lot of NCR quests you can report on criminals instead of taking them on yourself. Now... you will definitely want the animal friend perk and the robotic one so you can just ignore animals and turn off robots. I was even able to rescue the Deputy in Primm without having to shoot anyone by sneaking in and timing my escape.

What about getting attacked out in the wastes? Are you planning on running from everything or are you at least going to fight for defense against critters like.. oh, Deathclaws...lol. I'm not sure running is much of an option.

Uncross your fingers, It doesn't. Got walloped by the first swarm I encountered and they were Young Cazadore. Maybe high sneak and stealthboys will do. A great idea for a play through. I've tried in FO 1 and 2 but always screwed it up some where along the way. I might give it a shot.

Boxing gloves and/or shotguns with bean-bag rounds. They will knock out the stuff you can not avoid.

You can complete the MQ with no killing if you go with NCR or Independent. Your problem is going to be the fight with the Legate. I have no idea whether or not you can just... um... "beanbag" him (that sounds so wrong). I'm pretty sure you either have to kill him or talk your way out of it.

Ya, I know the MQ wouldn't be too diffcult to finish without killing anyone with turbo and maybe a stealthboy or two. And ya, you don't have to fight the last dude if you have 100 speech, but the MQ really isn't a big deal and I'm not concerned about it.

Did you really just put 1 charisma on a pacifist character? Really? Speech and barter will be THE most important skills in a build like that.

Uh, yep. Your point? barter doesnt do squat and nothing is stopping me from rasing my speech skill with skill points.

No high charisma. Lockpick is fairly low priority. Science is important, though. Rest is about right.

What's the point of strength? You're not going to be carrying anything other than one set of armor and maybe a suit, and food/water/chems.

No companion to carry my crap... still wanna loot some stuff to sell. also, I'm still debating if I'm going to superslam or not, which takes 6 str. Also mauler special attack will take 5-6 str too. And i am going to be carrying more than one set of armor, actually. A really heavy highest DT armor I can find, and one light armor with highest DT. Probably also carry around some suits that improve stats. It all adds up fast.

Ive found a some locked doors that saved me from having to fight.

CHA will help with speech and barter, which is no big boost for most but, this dudes gonna need all the help he can get.

Might actually be a good idea to get swiftlearner at level 2. For one, what else are you going to take? for two, you won't get exp from enemies anymore, so you are going to level up slower, and probably wont even get enough exp to get very high level. Does it eve work on quest exp though?

Have veronica with you and give her boxing gloves/tape. Her portable workshop should be quite helpful.
