The real reason the Mayan Calander ends on 12-21-12.

The mayans made their calendar go that far and decided to call it a day, and do more work tomorrow but tomorrow the Spanish came and wiped em out, so it never got beyond that.

We all know what is really going to happen.

Abstergo is going to launch it's satellite into orbit, along with the Piece of Eden they acquire. They will use it to gain temporary control over the weak-minded of earth's population. This will only last for mere minutes however, as a massive solar flare is fired at the earth. The Piece of Eden will do some shindiggy thing, repelling the flare, and all will be well for another something-million-odd years.

Oh, and Rebecca will program a Lucy six-bot for Desmond.

I'm looking forward to the end of the world, its just a shame that this particular apocalypse will end with the world physically falling apart ala the movie "2012". I was hoping for a zombie armageddon. Still, stealing airplanes whilst escaping from collapsing tectonic plates can still be fun.

Honestly, I think this is just a bunch of bull. I can go on for hours explaining the "dumbness" that is in all of this, but for now I am just gonna point a few things out:

For reasons that some pointed out, the calender just ends. Nothing that says "ZOMG ZORG THE WURLD ENDZ!". Also, it is all just glorified by the media. Here is a question for you: Of all times, if this supposed prediction is true, why was this "prediction" found a few years before 2012 when obviously people (Mainly archeaologists or whatever it is spelled) have been exploring ruins for years?

Also, why JUST the Mayans? Why not the Aztects? Impas? Hopi Indians?

Anyway, I think people will just ramble and party a few days before 12-21-12. I hope not but I wouldn't be shocked to see alot of mass suicides.

Or maybe they thought "hey this calendar goes for like a thousand years do think we'll really need it by then?"

In lieu of another explanation, that's also what I'm inclined to think: they had to stop work somewhere, it's not as if their calendar could extend into eternity.

Different people have different moralities. For me suicide is just one way of dying, and though I'd rather have them alive I respect their decision.
