2012

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 6:30 pm

I was just thinking about this.

Even if the world doesn't end on December 21st, what do you think people will be doing days before? The rich retreating into bunkers, others breaking in and looting stores? Riots? Or will it just be another normal day?

I imagine a number of people will suicide. I don't know if most of the world is taking it seriously, but I don't believe it will happen.

A normal day, because it's a ridiculous "prediction". I may be putting too much faith in my fellow humans though...

Going on with their every day lives for the most part. Due to the Internet, the idiotic minority that believes in it have been greatly amplified. The general populous doesn't and'll just scoff.

See: That crazy guy's prediction about the end of the world this year (both times)

We should make t-shirts. On the front says "I survived the apocalypse", on the back a list of all the apocalypses we have had so far in chronological order :D

My plan for that day is to go streaking the downtown while yelling "Green Martians are chasing me!"

Some people will take it seriously and do a variety of things generally associated with panic. They will most likely feel quite stupid afterwards (assuming they survive whatever they do). Personally, I'm not going to worry about it. I've survived the "End of the World" seven times now (three of them in 2011), so what's one more?

Good idea. *goes off to design said t-shirt*

I really don't care. I have guns ammo and beer. If anything does happen I will be ready. If nothing happens, I will have beer.

What a coincidence, I had planned to dress as a Martian and run around frightening people about the imminent apocalypse. :shifty:

There's gonna be some cool theme parties, the "It might just be our last night on earth" line will probably have a significant effect on the rate of boning in the world, positive or negative I cannot say (since I'm no expert at lame pick-up lines), and the holiday season will be particularly bad for suicides, drunk driving, et cetera, in part because of the idiots and their hysteria, and in part because having the previously-mentioned parties four days before christmas, which is only ~4 days (depending on your reckoning) from new years, will not be good for people's health & safety.

Some suicides, crazy people ranting, and them feeling stupid afterwards.

Then they'll make up a new date.

And I won't care, I'll sleep soundly on the 21st of December, as those people are crazy.

I'm quite sure the world will not end in my life time. There will be disasters, but no apocalypse.

Y2K all over again, yes this one remembers well despite being young. The stupid advlts were all fearful even if they put on a brave face, I continued to play the PC into the night. Much to my disappointment nothing as exciting as it turning into a nuclear scud missile happened.

It will be the crazies that cause the real damage on Dec 21. Obviously most people think this 2012 doomsday theory is a load of [censored], just like every other doomsday theory - but of course, the few wreck it for the many.

I'll be hiding at home avoiding any areas that could be looted.

You could tell them the earth got all angry and started eating cities, then was all like. "My bad guys. My bad" And then tell them that's why all the hippies live in cities not actually helping the enviornment.

Which probably makes just about as much sense as the movie, so they will probably still buy it.
