360 owners, get ready for a nasty day one bug

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 9:00 pm

Doesn't look like a lower res texture, but just the lack of a normal map. Looks to me like the normal map just isn't applied in the second picture.

From the website I read it said installing to hard drive fixed this.

http://www.lazygamer.net/xbox-360/skyrim-on-the-xbox-360-is-low-res-without-an-install/
Exactly.

NO this bug doesnt need ANY attention since the game is NOT release yet , hence this bug doesnt exist's.
And there's already a patch inc.

Edit: u could aswell just blame your 7y old hardware...
Considering the game was designed specifically with the 360's hardware in mind (then ported to PC/PS3), your post is highly illogical.

I know a few people with Xbox360 copies who haven't run into this. So it's obviously not caused by just going into-out of the menus. It'd be far too easy to replicate and they absolutely would have come across it.

From what I read, it's just the player's items in First person mode too. It's not like the entire game instantly turns to a muddied mess.
It's not just your hands/items. There is video footage of it happening to the environment as well.

Some of the earlier texture complaints appear to be tied to textures simply not streaming properly. Most likely will be fixed with a future patch, but the day-1 patch doesn't cover this.

I highly doubt the patch is already sent out, since the game itself has its actual release on the 11th. It feels rather unrealistic that they moved the patch a few days beforehand so the reviewers and media folks get a better experience. LOL

Love how you guys dismiss bugs because you think everyone pirated the game. It's out early all over the place, and people who pirated cannot download the patch. Come on guys. The issue is real and will be in YOUR copy as well.

No we're dissmissing YOU because you have no way of being 100% on -anything- you're talking about. The game was not meant to be released yet for a reason, hold your freaking horses and let the company handle it. They always do. Be cool.

Even if it is in my copy, it'll get fixed eventually and since it doesn't seem to affect gameplay or progression, I could honestly care less.

Then sell your copy, never play skyrim again. Probelm solved.

Hm... I've seen texture pops in EVERY game I've played for years now, so this news is really like a fart in the wind to me. The PC I have is far superior to my xbox and PS3, so I suspect loading issues will be less significant anyway.

Ok so first it was because of installing it, now it affects everyone? its not a bug its a VIRUS! its spreading! :celebrate:

On a more series note: Is there a patch out yet? if there is then that doesn't really matter as its good bethesda still has two days until release date to make a real day 1 patch to fix it. If there is a patch out now it doesn't bother me it wasn't fixed in that as i understand if bethesda waits until the actual release date. People might have copies now that are not pirated, but they shouldn't as the world wide release is 11.11.11...u really can't complain about anything not working as it should before the real release is here. Hopefully they fix it on friday and if not they sure will very soon ;)

I'm getting very bored of scaremongering over a negligible difference in graphics. You say these pictures are caused by pausing. All the other sites that have posted these two comparisons say it's to do with the HDD having a small problem with the textures. 2 days to go and people can't stop anolysing tiny graphical issues that will be fixed very quickly. What happened to the days of being excited for the game. As far as I'm concerned, I'm going to get enjoyment out of the gameplay and campaign, not the graphics. For those who want to use the "you get immersed in the world more" argument, I found Oblivion (even though a lot didn't like it) and Morrowind 100% immersive.

It's a day one patch. How can they have the patch already? (No I play on the PC do I don't really bother.)

Not 100% positive on this but I think all Demos and Patches for Xbox Live are uploaded to the XBL servers on Tuesdays. PSN is Wednesdays I think.

They upload them once a week and must be approved of a few days ahead of time by Microsoft and Sony before they get onto XBL/PSN.

So if there is a patch for Skyrim, it would already be on the XBL servers and ready to go.

There's a blur on the hand and sword textures.

I got crucified by the 3 people raging about this last night when I mentioned I didn't see it at all until the 4th time I pulled up the comparison. :sadvaultboy:

I just love consoles, because there are never any problems on consoles like PCs, and they never need any patches on the first day to fix glaringly obvious bugs.

I have a retail copy, playing right now. I'm looking at my sword, cant really tell if the correct texture is loaded or not. I've never been one to look that deep into them if that makes any sense. I can say the weapons have terribly jagged edges. I have it installed to HDD. Also, the shadows look very jagged as well. I'm not sure if any of this is related. Honestly I'm just waiting for release day so I can play on PC, I stumbled upon this 360 copy so I'm just playing for kicks.

LOL. The patch is available on Live to those have the game early. It's ready to download now, and will download if you get the game today, tomorrow or Friday.

Dismiss me all you want. This issue is real, is not fixed by the patch or installing to the HDD, and whether you care or not, some people do, and I want to inform them.

That article was wrong. Read the comments at the bottom, they guy mixed up the pictures and assumed installing to the HDD was the better picture.
