So... about the game footage

Post » Tue Apr 16, 2013 8:07 pm

Extremely disappointed, looks horrible. Textures look like Morrowind, animations are stiff and choppy as hell. Faces and expressions from character creation look like KotOR 1. UI and the whole feel is so generic. All in all, looks like something the cat spew out 10 years ago. EDIT: and just to remember that its budget could have fed an African nation.

It did not look that bad. Saying it looks like Morrowind is a big stretch. I'm not sure what you were hoping for. Skyrim online?

I'm still not sure why every single MMO out there looks like it has been designed by the same single person time and time again, that design seriously makes me feel nauseous.

I think it is to fast, the movement of the character.
That for me is the most unrealistic.

No one keep bouncing on their knees like that also.

About the graphics, lets just wait and see til final release.

It looks fine for an MMO, as for whether it's a "direct representation of Skyrim" - it is not and only someone stupid could have expected that.

If you've taken a look at gameplay footage that they have shown -officially- you'll know the graphics arent actually terrible. I havent seen the footage myself but I'm guessing just as the first comment- that it was on low settings.

If people who watched the video actually wanted to be helpful, they would post some constructive criticism feedback for ZOS developers to read. After all, look at how much work they did on the Orcs and Argonians.

This isn't a finished product yet. There is still room for improvements. If you see something that needs to be improved, please say so. But saying "it looks generic" or "the graphics look old" isn't helpful.

For example, after watching the video, I feel that the glow around characters (whether enemy or friendly or quest giver) is too bright. It makes NPC's look two dimensional, like paper dolls, and ruins immersion. I feel it should be a toggle-able option so the player can adjust the brightness or intensity of the glow or turn it off altogether.

While what you say has It's own validity, It's still not something to discuss on these forums.

The people who make threads like this won't care either way, though. :|

This isn't really a troll thread unless Eno is a regular troll who comes into beth forum space in ritualistic suicide. Which he isn't. No need to lay out the troll mat yet. I feel it coming though...

Anyways, early build of the game, you grossly over exaggerated the low graphics. Go back and play Vanilla Morrowind again because you need your eyes fixed. Try KOTOR 1 again as well. Because you clearly haven't played it for awhile if you think the graphics are comparable with those two games. It isn't even close. Unless you meant modded Morrowind which then has some overhauls that nearly put it on par with Skyrim, which is ridiculous.

Some folks actually didn't even believe it was ESO but insisted that the video was just footage from age of conan. So yeah, that alone says guite a lot.

I agree, on the first paragraph at least as I havent seen the footage I cant speak for it. With it being in Beta I think they'd do well in showing us some real raw footage- sure they might edit it obviously but at least let us see the combat for what it is instead of hearing about it and seeing short sequences.

It does seem a change is occurring today across the forums that I visit. People are now actually starting threads about constructive criticism. This is a good thing.

My theory is that ZOS, in an effort to keep download size reasonable for Beta testers, have not included all the high res textures with the Beta Client.

As others have said, those who played the game at PAX reported just how good the game looked.

Also, the Beta participants are supposed to be testing specific things when they test. If I am testing certain quests in the starting area do I really need the highest quality graphics to make sure the quest is not somehow broken?

Lastly, remember this is not a preview. It is very early Beta.
