I am extremely disappointed with Skyrim. I went and bought the hard copy, not being a fan of digital downloads. Tried to install it, and it requires steam. This is a bad enough. I need Steam to run in the background to play Skyrim. Why is this necessary? My computer isn't the best, and running Skyrim isn't the easiest for it, so I have to run this spyware CRAP in the background too? Apparently this was done with Fallout as well, but I didn't play them so I was unaware of this idiocy.
So I start playing the game, and the interface is just plain clunky. The lack of options in game annoys me to no end. I shouldn't have to hap-hazardly edit an INI file to make the game playable. Not even so much as a way to turn off the laggy mouse acceleration in game. Really Bethesda?
On the plus side, I don't get the complaints about graphics. I think they're gorgeous. Story is great and combat is enjoyable.
In the end though, I think this is where the relationship between Bethesda and my wallet ends. Truth be told, if Massachusetts hadn't made laws against returning software after purchase, I'd have brought this back to the store already and gotten my money back. An unfinished PC game isn't worth $60.
The purchase may be final but don't worry Bethesda, I promise it will be the last.
Steam is actually pretty good thing to happen.
And i absolutely agree with the horrible UI. Everything is after so many windows and amount of button pushes.
GFX are bit better than oblivion even with the ini tweaks. However some of the textures are totally horrible and recycled in many places. However i can blame consoles dragging behind in the GFX power for that GFX being average.
Combat is a bit better than oblivion. Story is okay and looks better than at least oblivions one. Sad to see the map is actually smaller and the removal of stats etc,
