Absolutely Disappointing.

I am extremely disappointed with Skyrim. I went and bought the hard copy, not being a fan of digital downloads. Tried to install it, and it requires steam. This is a bad enough. I need Steam to run in the background to play Skyrim. Why is this necessary? My computer isn't the best, and running Skyrim isn't the easiest for it, so I have to run this spyware CRAP in the background too? Apparently this was done with Fallout as well, but I didn't play them so I was unaware of this idiocy.

So I start playing the game, and the interface is just plain clunky. The lack of options in game annoys me to no end. I shouldn't have to hap-hazardly edit an INI file to make the game playable. Not even so much as a way to turn off the laggy mouse acceleration in game. Really Bethesda?

On the plus side, I don't get the complaints about graphics. I think they're gorgeous. Story is great and combat is enjoyable.

In the end though, I think this is where the relationship between Bethesda and my wallet ends. Truth be told, if Massachusetts hadn't made laws against returning software after purchase, I'd have brought this back to the store already and gotten my money back. An unfinished PC game isn't worth $60.

The purchase may be final but don't worry Bethesda, I promise it will be the last.

I'm not disappointed. This game has brought me closer to TW2.

Thanks Bethesda!

I don't think you need steam after activating it, though I could be wrong. give it a chance! The game is fantastic, only minor flaws distract from it.

No .ini file edits needed for me.
Laggy mouse acceleration?
Clunky interface?
You didn't know Steam was required to play? Did a lot of research on this game, didn't you? BTW, Steam is an awesome program. BEST SALES EVER!
Bethesda will not miss you.

I LOVE THE GAME. I'm playing it on a 360 controller, on my PC. Maybe that's the solution.

Lol so many complaining that the interface is crap when its just a few bugs that can be easily fixed with a patch and besides those bugs the interface is awesome.

Skyrim is good but not perfect and not bethesdas best work. While it is better graphically and quest wise it lacks the playability of Morrowind and oblivion.

Its really no wonder not many developers make games like this anymore. So much goes into it and people still expect it to be perfect. Let me see, there is still MW3 to play, or Saints Row 3 coming out.. those developers put just as much time into their games as Bethesda put into Skyrim? Maybe Bethesda should cut the size of the game in half so they have more time to do everything people are complaining about.

umad? Excepth the interface it's almost flawless.

Huh? Last i checked the interface was a HUGE part of the game that you have to use constantly. Its not just some small background detail that you can shrug off.

Not sure about that one, I really did enjoy Oblivion on my first play through, both OB, the Nine, Shivering Isles, but even with mods, I couldn't ever do a 2nd full play through with it.

Skyrim's quests and dungeons are a lot more fun than oblivion's as well as character interaction. I can see myself playing Skyrim through multiple times, I even have made backup saves of multiple alts for when i'm done this play through. I'm enjoying it just as much as I did Daggerfall and morrowind.

Well, if they keep lying about the system requirements, they will loose a lot more people. I bought the game because it exceeded the minimum requirements by quite a bit and it doesn't even run well if I set everything on low. Even though the game itself recommends that I play on high.

I'm not saying I won't buy any of their game ever again, but I sure as hell won't pre-order anything from them ever again. I would return the game, if I was allowed in my country. Honestly, right now I feel that if I gave those 40€ to a random stranger, it would have been better spent :banghead:

Very, very, very disappointed

Yea interface complaints are very valid. Almost every thread here is about a small texture detail somewhere, who the f* cares lol, this game has so much stuff; 100x the content almost any other company game has had in the last few years lol.

But, this game has SO much of everything, calling the game bad and regretting your purchase cause of interface accessing...that's a small % of the whole game. Valid, but ''Never buying a Bethesda game again'' is just lol to me. Xbox 360 version for me though, It svcks but im kinda glad to see 99% of the valid complaints like keys being on PC lol

When I started installing Skyrim I read the Bethesda QA and it says you only need to be logged in to Steam to register your copy and after that you don't need to log in while you play.

I am a dedicated PC gamer and I hate console ports, but the Skyrim UI isn't that difficult to get used to. It may be slightly fiddly at first but after ten minutes I was used to it.

Seriously, people shouldn't be letting tiny things like the UI ruin the game for them. I mean seriously - the UI? Gameplay, character controls and graphics are far more important, and these are exceptional in my opinion.

Also, what is wrong with steam? I would be disappointed if it didn't link to steam.

PC users MUST activate it on steam, im sure if they forced eggbox/ps3 users to register all new games online there would be a storm

Where did "eggbox" even come from? Who started that, and what does it even mean?

Don't most major games release on PC make you use steam these days? That's something you overlooked. I'm also sure you can run it without steam running once you instal it. That's how I run the total war games anyway. I also like the fact that after what a day there's so much hate. I doubt people have seen much of the game in the time it's been released, I'm also sure it won't be long 'till a patch fixes many of the small bugs that people are over reacting to.
