All respectable game reviewers should alter their score

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 4:28 pm

We all agree this game is suffering from more than minor bugs. It's the most catastrophic game ever to be released on ps3.

The question is should reviewers alter their scores to take this into account?

The current aggregate score is not a reflection of the quality of this game.

Not until post patch to give Bethesda a fair chance to correct this issue, if after the patch the game is still a mess then yes. This way if after the patch nothing is resolved then we know that Bethesda just handed out a game that clearly could not have been tested for longer than a day. I mean it does not take long in game to notice these bugs and with ALL of us noticing them there is no way that game testers wouldn't have encountered at least a FEW of these.

Game is broken. Beth should be embarrassed. Worst game performance wise that I've ever played on PS3.

The only problem is, there's three different reviews. PS3/XBox/PC

Yes, there's bugs on all 3 systems. PS3 is the only one that can not be played really(and this isn't even for everyone, some can actually play.)

Reviewers would need to drastically alter their scores for the PS3 version, which wouldn't phase Bethesda in any way since their target customers are XBox and PC.

There's no overall Skyrim score. That's what the VGA's are for, and awards on websites such as IGN or Gamespot. You want to hit Bethesda, you make sure Skyrim doesn't win GOTY.

Post patch isn't being fair it's giving Bethesda a free pass. But I'm ok with that as long as it works. As released it's in shambles. Thi game deserves all it's accolades if it worked correctly and wasn't crippled.

I'm not having any problems, therefore the game isn't broken.

I'm just talking about the ps3 version. All other versions have minor passable bugs and should not be negatively impacted because of the ps3 version. All users who get far enough into the content will expereince unplayability.

I've seen one of your posts saying you were experiencing lag in certain areas. Nice try. I've never played a game that had worse performance then this on PS3.

Alecto please post your Psn Id to show you completed a majority of this game. If ur only a few hours in or are neutering your play that can greatly effect your stability. The fact is if u wanted to do everything in this game it becomes completely unstable. Try all locations uncovered, fighting a dragon with companion, horse and dog and the engine falls apart.

I bought Skyrim for the PC, and judging by my experience, the PC is not the target audience. Have you seen the number of posts for the PC version in the forums? It's got 4 times more topics posted. There are way more issues with the PC version than any of the console versions.

For me the fix's have made the game enjoyable but all the best solutions do in the end fall back in to a choppy/splutter y game which is unacceptable seeing as they have made at least somewhere in the region of 100 million £ profit (im gonna keep rebuilding the database to help because when the game is smooth even the AI seems to work better). If the patch doesn't fix it properly then for me the game is a total failure.

I stand corrected. Had no idea the PC had that many issues to it. A lot of CTD I'm seeing. Not good at all.

Yeah i feel for pc gamers. But that's one of the reasons we play on consoles so we don't uave to worry about alot of the problems that accompany pc gaming in general. Not trying to give Bethesda a pass on pc but it is a little more understandable given that computers are not all
the same. But then again Bethesda should take that into account.

Yes indeed Bethesda failed very hard and cause of their miserable programming Ive stoped playing. Shame on everybody who works at Bethesda including Pete Hines and Tod Howard.

I wish the game reviewer would take this into account when reviewing. They seem to complain about commenters hating on their reviews more than actually objectively revising the game on all platforms. Is their a blog or website or magazine that will actually stand up against big companies releasing crippled games?

I visited the G4TV . com Xplay forums and saw a post about the PS3 version of the game. It's such a shame reviewers can get bamboozaled just as the consumers.

The "game" isn't necessarily the ps3 version. This is like having a faulty translation of a novel and saying that the English reviewers should change their thoughts.

This is one of the most incredible games I've ever played. I can't stop thinking about it. Bethesda has no idea how grateful I am for their work because they make games I can simply get lost in.

Besides, hopefully by monday this will all be behind us.

Honestly, I don't think we should ever forget this. Make a statement to the developers of this game and future games. This type of quality assurance is an unacceptable practice and will not be tolerated. The game is unplayable out of the box for the PS3. It's not just a few bugs, it's simply broken beyond repair out of the box. Not acceptable and should not be forgotten.

Respectable journalists don't rate games as "The ps3 version" or "the 360 version". To do so just add a level of apparent bias with every system/console owner flaming the others nowadays.

If someone has made a review strictly as the "PS3" version, then yeah, they should change that. But they should also probably seek a more suiting vocation.

All reviewers need to pull their reviews, until the game is fixed, simple as that. The reviews of 9.0 are all a lie until the game works properly.

Respectable journalists should def take console performance of games into account, console wars be damned. As a consumer I don't care about whatever console I'm platings brand image, I care about the quality of the game.

Face it game reviewers are a sad bunch. They lack the necessary journalistic skills to put their foot in the sand and voice objective rational. Instead they regularly sucumb to hype an we as gamers waste money of crap products

and what version wrere ps3 specific publications playing?
