Yet they took down the FBI and Department of Justice sites did they not? If you ask me thats pretty sad that Facebook has better internet security then the FBI and Department of Justice.
I don't believe they took down the DoJ's site, IIRC it was just a DDOS. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Sick of these guys. They just make the internet look bad. Their method is unimpressive, their targets are undeserving, and their ego is unmatched.

Some of them are alright, most are not. The issue is that the group as a whole have no standards. I don't see anything wrong with protesting a website by taking it down for brief periods of time, but there IS an issue when you ruin innocent lives by stealing their identity. Not to mention the classified files released that could actually get someone killed.

At any rate, you don't mess with Facebook. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKNO8UcEq18

Guessing thats code for budget cuts? Its the United States Government. They should be able to stop some computer nerds from messing with their website.
you don't understand....

facebook is going to have more servers then the FBI will, that means facebook can handle more traffic, all anonymous did was spam the government websites with too many requests causing the servers to not be able to handle real requests, there is absolutely nothing you can do about that besides getting more servers, and that would be a waste of budget for the fbi website to run on as many servers as facebook

it's essential the same as when a game your playing starts to stutter because the graphics are too much for your graphics card

Tards from the ass end of the internet try to act tough, mostly from their parents basemant, with an indeterminate amount living a life similar to that of sewer alligators, feeding on the refuse of pampered metropolitans.

What a waste of life.
Fixed :P

When are these idiots going to realize that all this "crusade" does is give ammo to the very people they're trying to fight?

In all seriousness though, they really need to stop. They act like Robin Hood, but they don't realize all the damage they do causes backlash on the res tof the internet. It's a never ending cycle.

Seems like there must be two different branches of "Anonymous" going on here: One who hacks or brings down websites out of noble intentions, and the other who just does it "for the lulz"... :ermm:

I suspect both groups are largely driven to do it for the attention and to sell other people's details to spammers.

Too much hate here for anonymous, at least they do something to protest. What is anyone else doing?
They raise awareness, and while it might not always be in the best way, at least they are doing something about the things they dislike.

Just like the people who say "I don't like such and such" but never do anything about it to complain about those who try to do something.

In case no one has figured it out, SOPA and PIPA is as good as passed, the government already went after megaupload and shut it down.
Just like the occupy movement, at least those people stood up and done something.

So, what have I done? Nothing yet on SOPA or PIPA besides call and send emails to people in a place to do something about it.
I have been pretty active in other areas (RTBA and other rights) I just haven't figured out what to do in this case just yet.

If you think Anon is a white knight crusader of justice, you're either a btard or a dolt, well, both apply all the same actually.

Anywho, I don't see them as evil or good. I grab my helmet and hit the deck, want to know why? Because Anon is like a tornado, it has no morals, sometimes it's damage does good, but more often than not, it just breaks [censored]. Either way, all I know is when anon is up to something or about to do something, it'll get ugly. I just lie low and wait it out in the trenches.

What everyone else is doing is following the laws and not breaking down sites to steal/see peoples personal details.
Do they dislike Facebook or SOPA/PIPA ? Because as far as Iam aware Facebook and the owner Mark ... are completely opposed to SOPA/PIPA. So this ego trip of theirs seems out of place and a misguided attempt to portray them as the good guys and Facebook as the baddies....They are criminals who should be ousted like the criminals they are.

The fact they even advertise their movements is foolish and half the videos are probablly fake, because of the amount of attention the organisation would get which makes it hard to orchastrate attacks in secret and make them successful. - The Anon twitter even said the video was fake. But hey they're all liars out to save themselves

No, because I don't want my personal details being sold to every spammer going yet again: Anonymous have been making a bit of a bad habit of that.

Indeed. They say 'They release information to show the world how at risk you are', but that's a very very thinly veiled ''lulz we be postin dis cuz we hacked da servers gais'.

If they were the white knights they claim to be, they'd be doing something more proactive, like making positive awareness. Know what will happen if Anon pulls it off an shuts down/DDoS's Facebook? Fox News and all other big media outlets will, once again, paint the group as the cyber terrorists the media loves to play them as, likely encouraging things that allow US internet policing.

Not trying to sound mad or anything, I just find it ridiculous to call them heroes or 'good'.

Considering they often 'take sites down' by on-mass DDOS attacks....it will never work against facebook.

Reason? Facebook has to handle millions of requests.....for them to take down with a ddos attack they would have to signicantly raise on the amount of server requests facebook is getting......and nobody has that many connections to use on something that trevial.
