Anonymous: Facebook is next

facebook has too many firewalls and other protections that it would be impossible to take it down
The sun might be able to do it soon enough. Currently waiting for the activity on the sun to create an EMP and whipe out all electronics. :D

(not actually waiting as in I hope it happens or something similar)

Couldn't care less. FB is very unimportant, if it were a government database or a bank then it would be news but FB seriously

What do you think Facebook is? Why install spy cameras when people would just upload 'evidence' to their drunken party photo albums themselves?

 I wonder how many will fall for it.

What do you mean, "fall for it", they work DDOS attacks by using the LOIC program. To "participate" you download the program and enter the given IP and/or URL.

It's there to provide aggregate data to advertisers and Facebook (who uses it for advertising).

You don't know DDOS attacks work, do you?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack

Given they could try an SQL injection (which is there second favorite type of attack it seems) but I assume Facebook would have put in "countermeasures" for that by now.

I've heard theories that FB isn't actually the target, but the people who download this program are and it'll give you a virus or something so that Anon can get your personal information from your computer  Just one of the many theories I heard today.

You can ignore the thoeries and pay attention to the information given by Anonymous that says the video is a fake and Facebook is not a target.

Also, that "1 anonymous users" detail down at the bottom of the page is very appropriate for these threads.

SQL injection attacks only work with sites using very simple data access architectures. More complex sites are going to have any input from the application passing through multiple modular layers of business objects, ORM, validation, etc. before it makes it to any kind of SQL. If FB is doing things like passing form or querystring values directly to dynamic SQL command text then they deserve to have their databases trashed.

If you fall prey to SQL injection, your FTP password is probably 1234. ;)

...which is why government sites get hit with them so often. :P
