Anyone earn up to 81 the hard way?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 12:30 am

Since I am addicted to alts, I have yet to get a character past level 20. I had been playing the xbox 360 version, but I decided to get the pc version which I find way better, so its now more likely than ever that I will eventually get a character to level 81 without mods or cheats or console commands.

Since people starting writing mods and using console commands. Perhaps I should have used the words "the correct way".

The correct way? Really? It's an Elder Scrolls game. People will play this single player game how they feel like it. If people feel like cheating and it makes it fun for them, more power to them. But to say that you should have used the words "the correct way"? That's just incredibly close-minded. This is especially true for this type of game.

In any case, it's not really all that difficult to level any particular skill from 15 to 100 even without spending a single perk point. Some are more difficult than others, and by difficult I mean more time consuming, but this far into the game's release I am sure that many people have reached level 81.5. It's not that difficult to do, just time consuming.

It really didn't take me all too long to do it myself, and that was on my first play through of the game (Without paying for training mind you and on Master difficulty). Having some prior knowledge of Skyrim sure could have sped things up here and there (I.e. not a blind play through). So yeah, it's not really difficult to do and it's easily in the realm of possibility. I suppose if you consider something time consuming to be difficult you might find it a bit difficult, but aside from that, not really difficult in the slightest.

It's just a word, thinking it implies a judgement is an assumption since "correct" isn't only morally connoted. I would have said the "classic" way if I was him but it's no big deal ^^

It seems feasible to get to level 75 in 188 hours. There's so many tricks and accidental exploits that you just gotta have the gold and know all the tricks, ways things work, and the exploits and you will get to a high level fast. Bound Bow is probably the most obvious example of something you can exploit.

I know, but i've used none of them with my main character, its that what i call a "clear playtrough" -and this way even if you're very fast its very difficult to reach level 75 before the 200 hrs, believe me.

Just a word? Holy moly it's Captain Obvious and he's come to save the day. When someone is putting "the correct way" in quotation marks, I'm definitely in the right to make some assumptions. It's basic reading comprehension.

If you want to be more descriptive about it, you could just say "in a vanilla playthrough." Simple statement that doesn't overreach.

188 hrs to reach level 75 ? you were fast to use an euphemism if you've played it all the "right way" i've left my main character at the same level with at least 230-240 hrs of gameplay.

Well I started out with a thief in mind and got things like sneak and light armor leveled up but then I slowly changed to a warrior/fighter at about lvl 30ish after seeing daedric armor lol and then just got all warrior skills leveled up and now I use magic in any fight that I can as it is mainly magic skills that are not at 100.

I have read books but never needed to buy skill points from a trainer. I got 55 skill books read and only because there is an achievement on xbox for reading 50 skill books.

Yes. Skills don't automagically increase just because you've played a certain amount of time. It's all about what you do with said time that really matters in terms of whether or not your skills advance at a certain rate.

My problem with leveling past the mid-50s is that I have to go use skills I never wanted for my character. Example, my current sword-and-board Altmer has no interest in 2H melee or heavy armor. Those skills are around 20, and I'm sorry I let them get that high. I've been saving before reading skill books for quite a while now, so I can backpedal if an unused skill advances this way.

I suppose I could create a cheat character at some point, get the Oghma Infinium and go to town. So far, I prefer to focus on a particular skill set.

Xbox 360 Level 81 100 every skill I trained each skill to 100 the hard way. Hardest one and longest to train was 100 Alchemy.

I did not use the ogham infinium glitch as I somehow either sold it without knowing or lost it

Heres a list of items I have lost:
Spoiler
Archmage's Robes - sold without knowing it
Ogham Infinium - Either sold it or lost it
Staff of Magnus - Put it on weapons rack to the far left of the enchanter in Proudspire Manor and it disappeared.

If anyone can help me get these back or any info on how I could retreive them please let me know.

Thanks for your "explanation" but sometimes skills increase too much if you use them continuously only with that purpose in mind.

The OP was talkin' of a "hard way"....i let you figure out what it could means.Or at least, what it could means for someone.

I had 3 characters at lv 81, it's not hard, just somewhat time consuming, you need to devote to those characters alone which was bugging me the whole time since I always suffer from "reach lv 20-> make a new character". :P

Hard Way = no cheating at all, without use an alteration/illusion spell every 2 seconds to reach level 100 in a session and "such things" .... i'm curios to see how many "Level 81" we have then.

I use the uncapper that allows skills to level up to 300, but the game runs out of content way before that. I usually quit between levels 40 and 50. Currently level 49 at ~70 hours, and there's still about dozen hours of content relevant to the character left. So i doubt i'll make it to level 60.

I got to Lv.60ish legit, but then filled out to 81.5 using the ogham glitch.

I practically did exactly the same thing. Once you get past 60, not only do you get good enough at fighting that it's not such a big chore anymore, but levelling becomes so mind numbingly slooooow that you eventually think, "What the hell, I'll just use that bloody book to go the rest of the way to 81!" That's the only exploit that I know I ever used.

Interesting to hear people's stories.

I just wanted to state I have a character who is level 50 who hasn't done a single guild/main quest.

Honestly, you should figure out what the "hard way" means before making fail smart ass remarks. The Topic Creator was only referring to no modding or cheating. That's it. To think it was anything more is being naive and adding your own subjective bias that doesn't belong.

Where did the Topic Creator state this? Why don't we just make up things out of thin air and include it in the "hard way" terminology used for the topic title for absolutely no reason. Yeah, makes perfect sense. I'm sorry buddy, but cheating or modding does not constitute spending dedicated time to train a particular skill.

Going to have to agree with that. Alchemy also was the most time consuming for me. Although I imagine I could have sped up the process had I been wearing Alchemy increasing gear and spent perk points on Alchemy. With that being said, Alchemy was easily the most profitable skill I used. $$$

I've stated what the hard way its for me...if you find this "fail smart ass" its your problem and i don't care sincerely...no "cheating" for me means even not use every 2 seconds a spell only to level up..play the game as you do "normally" -using a thing only when you really need it...its more clear now ?

again... i've stated this on the basis of what i've said above -"spending dedicated time to train a particular skill" for me doesn't mean using this last every 2 seconds only to level up - like childrens do..

Why is it that so many people always bring up "cheating" in a game like Skyrim. How is it "cheating"? You act as though this is an MMO and requires balance or something...There is no cheating. There are exploits, and there are bugs. That's it.

Try setting all of your starting skills to 1 - (or 0) - and upping the difficulty.
Add in a dash of Deadly Combat and just a touch of More Complex Needs and I can guarantee that you'll be grinning like a loon even by the time you manage to get to level 10!
