Anyone Else Giving Up Till Patch 1.3?

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 10:26 am

I am. I give up though I doubt 1.3 will be the one to wait for, more like 1.8 or later if they ever get that far.

I already hit a bug in Winterhold where I could not start NPC dialogs to proceed with quests. I replayed about 6 hours on that one.

I just got him by the Helm of Winterhold/Purity of Revenge bug and am stuck on the Companions quests. I cleared out that dungeon long ago and while I have a save, I would have to replay 8-9 character levels to get around it.

I also have the glitch that prevents me from getting the title of Thane in Riften as well as several other less blocking "glitches."

While yeah, bug fixes take time, many of the glitches are not random occurrence. They result from simply playing the game in an apparently untested (and not particularly illogical) sequence. They absolutely would have been caught if the game had not been rushed and properly tested. Many of them are completely reproducible, don't require millions of people playing to find, and there is no valid excuse for their presence at launch.

I'm done tip toeing around in this "amazing game." I'll wait until they get it fixed as it should have been PRIOR to accepting customers' money. This is definitely the last time I pickup a Bethesda title right at launch.

No if only I could have my money back to spend on a game that works until this one is fixed....

Dude, your my hero! You couldn't have said it ANY better with little or more words. Good post!

Your carl wont equip the leather because it has less Armor rating than the standard steel armor they have already....

Which is totally lame that she comes in default iron armor. I am not a light armor crafter, so I tried making potions to increase blacksmithing skill, just so I could TRY and get the armor rating higher than iron on my leather DB set for my companion / house carl. And it's just not getting high enough of an armor rating to work out. This completely ruins customization and roll playing. As I like to roll around with specific types of characters who cator to my roll. But the game limits me to always having some Knight woman taking care of my house? How bout an assasin woman, chef, blacksmith, or a raggedy Ann.

The reason bethesda allows us to create potions to fortify alchemy, blacksmithing etc.. and create "bug" loops. Isn't actaully a bug, it's designed for players who say, REALLY enjoy dwarven armor or some crap like that. And they have the option to up the armor rating HIGHER than their say, dragon armor. It allows all the armor types to be of a somewhat eqaul tier. Which I like, and others exploit and pimp out dragon armor and complain the games to easy. Well this designed feature isn't working on my house carl? Maybe I just have to get stronger potions and put perk points into light armor, JUST so my house carl find SOME value in light armor.... It's silly the amount of "work" involved to simply customize one small aspect of your roll in this game.

"So glad I didn't play Fallout:NV when it came out, playing it now with all the updates and DLC right now."

Totally forgot about this game after mine had a few towns that would crash on entry, some of which were really important to me.. Ontop of having about 100 pounds of quest items I could not delete, which had bugged out and gotton stuck in my inventory forever, weighing down my game experience...Good to know it's better now, maybe the DLC is worth picking up and restarting the entire game over for while I wait for my skyrim to get fixed?

"Fallout NV is still severely crippled, i've never seen my Xbox crashed so often since i play this game. I won't buy such an unfinished game no more.
Skyrim doesn't need more technical update, we just want them to solve many quests issues remaining."

Damnit, Is it, or isnt it fixed?! I would like to know returning to fallout would have some of the benefits that Skyrim does not. Non- buggy companions and working houses is a nice start. But fallout really messed up on me as far as questing and entering towns goes. Crashing all the time for 360... If I could go play it crash free, I might actually consider popping this one in and downloading some DLC to keep me busy until my Skyrim saves "fix themselves" (if ever). But then again, I coulda boughten all the DLC for the price of skyrim and waited to get this used... DOH!

I'll still be playing, but I want them to fix glitched quests badly. I cannot progress in some of the quest lines b/c of the glitches even after I have reloaded and tried again.

All these quests that don't work, Lydia's marriage dialogue not triggering, and all we get is some technical stuff? PC gamers too lazy to click off windows instead of pressing ESC, 360 gamers refusing to not install to HD? The Ps3 lag thing was pretty bad, yes, but nothing else that they addressed is even remotely as gamebreaking as all the quests. I understand that the short amount of time isn't enough to fix everything, but if they fixed even one or two, just to show us that they're on it, I'd feel a lot better.

Yes, i'm waiting till the next patch. The amount of glitched quests is appauling to me. I have one on Purity of Revenge for the companions, so i can't finish their quests, and the Theives guild one, and the main story. It's ridiculous and breaking the game for me
Me and you my friend, me and you. :(
Purity of Revenge doesn't start for me. :c

I'd seriously hate having to not play this game but if I can't use archery and right now it is bugged I can't very well continue on with the game.

I will continue to play. I have fixed every glitch so far my self by going to a previous save I don't know about everyone but I save often!!! Before entering a town some buildings ( where quest givers are) and def dungeons . I save even when just walking around , I think if I were to die right now would I want to walk all that way again. I have ran into 4 or 5 glitches but just went back a bit and they fixed themselves . I am level 33 with about 340 ish saves. Ps I have it installed to a 8 gb flash drive saved games go to hdd. Hope this helps people!

The second (patch 1.2) will, we are assured, fix the texture issue - but Bethesda are sticking to the 'its only a problem if you install on HDD', so maybe the other low res textures most of us are reporting are actually inherent 'best' textures, not bugs.

A suggestion that has already been refuted. Among the most readily noticeable examples of the bug is smooth low res hands on the PC. I've definitely seen this occasionally when playing from the disc.

I gave up completely. Just sold off my PS3 Skyrim. The biggest issue was the magic resistance bug. No matter how you stack it, magic/elemental resistances simply does not work in the latest patch. I haven't seen dragons flying backwards though I have no reason to doubt this bug exists. As far as I can tell the hit to texture quality is minimal but it is definitely there. However, as a long time fan of Bethesda products I am skeptical about how they will handle their latest game. While I had generally no problems with 360 Fallout 3, I experienced plenty of issues with 360 New Vegas. And from tradition it is alarming to observe that they will focus manpower on crafting DLCs over releasing patches that work.

Was a good 2 weeks, I enjoyed Skyrim. But I'm sorry to say Skyrim is the last straw in the hat. Bethesda's team is taking their fans' goodwill for granted, and I have no desire to be part of a fanbase that keeps forgiving and getting exploited.

edit: I'm not sure if the 360 crowd is going to be hit with the problems that PS3 Skyrim owners are currently facing. I sincerely hope not.

I don't even think they properly FINISHED this game.
They did.

I don't even think they properly FINISHED this game. I know I'm giving it a huge break until some more issues are fixed. Practically no quest bugs are being fixed, no housing issues fixed.
You're wrong, check the changelog - they've fixed some quest related issues.

But there are a lot of things that need to be dealt with.
True, but that's to be expected of any game.

They had that cool release date that they wanted to make, 11/11/11, so I think they rushed and got sloppy.
They fixed over 3 million bugs before releasing.

And for the guy that's said he's had no texture issues, you must be the ONLY one. I know my graphics look like Goldeneye from the N64 at times.
7 million copies sold.. 500 people complaining about texture problems.. Yeah, no, you're wrong.

Hopefully they'll read more into their forums and see the other bugs/glitches.
That's sort of the point of this forum...

There aren't even any GOOD glitches in this game like in Oblivion.
You just contradicted yourself.

Have fun waiting another three weeks until 1.3 comes out. Even then, it may not fix all of the quest bugs. I recommend getting your money back now before it's too late.

Decided not to give up till patch 1.3. Instead I'm considering taking a radical step......

Namely starting a game from scratch but sticking to all the campaign lines - ignoring all the side quests, radiant and otherwise. As mixing the two seems to throw the game into cinflict and maybe the source of a lot of the reported bugs. I'l see.....

I've buyed Fallout New Vegas last month but never played because i waited for Skyrim;

Skyrim have tons of bugged quest,Winterhold is a mess and so many other quest that actually stop the game. I'm thinking to go for New Vegas untill Skyrim is fixed....hope NV is good,i don't want to make 100 saves before every quest or every step to come back if something got glitch.

I love Skyrim,i think is a great game but i'm becoming too paranoid;every strange details on a quest make me feel that some glitch as happened,i save every 5 minutes to revert back just in case. The quest for Malacath bugged,he tells me to put a wapon on altar, then the achievement for daedric artifact pop out but...i haven't any daedric artifact. Reload previous game and the thing goes right, the daedric artifact showed up and i pick it correctly...like this is extremely paranoid.....

i know bugs are really annoying but give Bethesda time. i swear some of you guys think you can fix a bug in a couple mins. it takes days even weeks to fix just one bug

you try and make a 300 hour game without bugs :P

Not going to get into an argument over this but it was Bethesda's job for quality control. They controlled the release date. Obsidian made the game but the general feeling was that they were rushed by Bethesda to release it sooner. Remember however that it was Bethesda Softworks who published New Vegas. Bethesda Game Studios created Skyrim and weren't involved in New Vegas.

They did.

They fixed over 3 million bugs before releasing.
That's a sign of good programming, when there's more bugs than anything else in the game.

However, as there is no quest fixes I'll be hanging up my horned helmet untill further patches come through - as I'm stuck on the ones I've undertaken and don't want to tackle anymore that have reported bugs - I may even trade the game in before its second-hand value drops.

Oh and I'll not buy another Bethesda game till I can see by the forums that all or most / bugs / issues / problems have been patched... so that'll be how many weeks / months after the launch (and probably a used copy)?

Mimimal comment from Bethesda, compared with Skyrim's pre-launch...... No apologies.... Doen't help...
Amen brother. People are making excuses for bethesda but bottom line it's BS. Patch priorities are rediculious. Fix the quests. Not the stuck projectles. Skyrim would be the best RPG of the decade but, Oblivion was a compleat able game so. I'm going to try this patch and hope they really underplayed it alot. And if not. Screw Skyrim!

Says who? You and the others affected? I hate to break it to you, but forum goers and visiters of other gaming websites are the MINORITY boys and girls. Given that even among that group these glitches are not consistent, how can anyone say that "many of the glitches are not random occurrence"?

Yes, quest bugs are entirely frustrating and can make it feel like you wasted your money. However, acting like such things should have been caught in controlled playtesting on a huge open world game does little more than display a person ignorance of game development. I totally agree that Bethesda needs to do something about it, but on the flipside, I understand that doing so takes time.

If a bug has ruined your enjoyment of the game, then I feel for you and don't blame you for your frustration, but don't act like Bethesda sold everyone a turd in a box, there are many, many people out there still enjoying the hell out of this game. A patch will be released once REAL fixes are made. In the mean time they have put out a patch that will fix other issues that were able to be taken care of quickly.

These forums are giving me flashbacks to the state of the Bioware forums in the weeks after Dragon Age 2's release. The sad thing (for the state of Bioware's QA Dept.) being that Dragon Age 2 is about a tenth of the size of Skyrim, and at most one tenth as complex. I will never again get a Bioware RPG at launch. Not even Mass Effect 3.

Yet I'm not annoyed at all by the bugs I've seen/found so far in Skyrim. The sheer amount of content packed into this game would make it almost impossible to be bug free, IMO. As long as Bethesda continues to fix problems, I will remain patient. I am looking forward to see how the game looks once the texture thing is fixed. I always install games to the HDD on the 360. I can't stand the noise of the DVD drive.

I understand completely that Skyrim is a huge game, and many bugs are going to be overlooked in testing, as we can already see. I'll still be playing it off-and-on for a while yet, but since I literally cannot complete the game because of quest glitches, and after putting over 80 hours into my character I'd rather not start a new one until the quests are fixed, and I'm assured that game completion is possible. I'm definitely going to be toning down my gameplay until patch 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 or whatever it takes to fix the quests.

Will I stop playing completely? No, of course not. The game is still amazing despite its release-day flaws. Besides, I still have BF3 to occupy my new spare time that Skyrim is leaving me ;)
