Anyone else seriously disappointed by Hearthfire?

Post » Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:52 pm

Since it is only five dollars I don't see it as a bad purchase, though I had hoped that it would be a new questline(with a few side quests) and new locations. Hopefully carrots is right about it being a snack before supper and we can expect a really good DLC after this one, maybe even an expansion.

This is my thinking, it's just a little add-on to keep us entertained until the next major DLC. Besides I'm going to defend this to the end all because Beth are giving me a birthday present :bunny:

ITS [censored] FIVE BUCKS, ADDS STUFF THAT WE WANTED FOR A LONG TIME, ADDS ADOPTION, ITS NOT [censored] HORSE ARMOUR.

First of all it's comparable to horse armor, second of all it's not worth five bucks (that's 1/4 the price of Dawnguard and this does not add 1/4 the content of DG in either quantity nor quality) and third of all, writing in all caps does not help you get your point across.

I mean, before Skyrim's release, Todd said that they would have fewer expansions than FO3, but they would be bigger. So we thought "great, we get maybe 3 SI sized expansion packs" okay, well, Dawnguard came out. Well, I have not gotten around to playing it yet, but from what I understand, it is bigger than FO3 expansions, but no where near as big as SI. OK, so it was a little disappointing, but they still had 2 more chances to make memorable DLC? Right, right?

Then Hearthfire was announced.

Seriously, not only does this have less content than FO3 expansions, but it shouldn't even be considered an expansion in the first place. It should have been something miscellaneous added with a new area and quests like the ability to change your face in DG. Bethesda made backwards progress, as this is going to become Skyrim's horse armor.

Who said it was a full on expansion? As I recall it, Bethesda said they would be making several large expansions with some smaller, inbetween stuff.

I'm absolutely thrilled for this DLC. It allows me to immerse myself even more then I already have. I've been role-playing as a Redguard who wanted revenge on the Imperials for not stopping the Thalmor (personal reasons) but through his travels he realized that helping the Empire was worth more then petty revenge especially seeing the suffering on both sides. He married Senna and all he wants is to join the Imperials so that he can protect his wife. Now with Hearthfire, my Redguard can build her a better home and adopt children.

For $5, it's totally worth it.

And to those who don't like it, here's a free advice: don't buy it.

It's pretty obvious that this is only a slice of something big. You will get your big DLC, just chill out. I'm still waiting for Dawnguard but I'm not going to let that spoil my fun.

Beth hit a new low I think. With all they could have expanded upon and fixed, they choose yet another house?

I think this is great. Ps3 (myself included) STILL dont even have dawnguard.. No update.. No nothing. We were behind in the patches, we have no exclusives, and now another dlc is coming? THATS FKING BS?!?

But then i watch the trailer.. we get to.. decorate? DRAGONBORN DOES NOT DECORATE!?!? FUS RO DAH!

I loled thru the whole fking trailer. This is a SPIT in the face at xbox. This is how they make users happy, while SHETTING all over the 30 day exclusitivity at microsoft. Yea you get to build a house and baby sit, 30 days earlier.. LOL!?!?!?!?!? This clears up the contract and opens much more to us for the 3rd and HOPEFULLY final instalment of the dlcs. IM hoping the last dlc, will be the end to the war.

Im hoping that the last dlc will make up for the HORRIBLE and PATHETIC excuses for dlc on ps3, or lackthereof.

Not only am I not disappointed, but I'm not much interested either.

I'm glad it doesn't cost much since I'll probably wind up having to have it so that half of my mods will still work.

I'll be very happy when they are done milking the game for all it's worth with these add-ons and get on with Fallout 4. That is unless they give us cloth physics.

What do you mean " all they could have " ? We're lucky to have an add-on launched so close to another. They are working on big expansions, this was just a small add-on for a part of the community. And it's 5 dollars for a better customization and roleplaying experience.

It's not fully what I hoped, but I'm not getting the DLCs until the GOTY disc eventually comes out anyways because I don't have live and don't really want it so I'll be getting them all at once anyways. I will say though even for a small DLC it could be worse, it could have just added something like outfits or new food lol.

If game trailers in general are anything to go by, the trailer includes the majority of the important content... you know the backbone of the game/DLC and this trailer then pretty much sums it up; mini TES Sims. But hey, I may be wrong, maybe huge new ares will be added with intriguing, lore-friendly quest-lines and awesome battles... or it'll just be beehives and mounted mudcrabs.

No not disappointed at all. Perhaps surprised as I expected it to be a major DLC like Dawnguard but that's just due to people overhyping it. I actually really look forward to this, building my own home and adopting children are things I've been wanting in Skyrim for quite some time. It will be fun defending my home from giant attacks and cleaning out skeever infestations. Although I do fear they're going to become more of a nuisance in the end.

Still I look forward to Hearthfire and building my dream home in the snow covered lands of The Pale. The trophies are also a pretty neat addition.

Which is half of what Point Lookout is for Fallout 3. Which added a lot more than what this is adding. And like what http://www.gamesas.com/user/782634-yougivingmelipboy/

It's funny how a little (okay a lot of) speculation that makes it sound like a huge giant thing can turn into a great big disappointment once the information on what it actually is is out there.
I'll be buying it for sure. Excited to see what the hidden stuff is (if any) but mostly cuz I do not like any of the houses already in the game.

I hope they add some more bigger content later on, but I would pay five bucks for some new house options. I don't care for the whole adoption, raise a family thing. I'd rather there were no children in Skyrim. But the new house options are worth my five bucks. It will facilitate immersion adn roleplaying somewhat and the cost is minimal.

That said, I'd rather see an immersive HUD option. I'd pay a hundred bucks just to get that on my PS3.
