Anyone else seriously disappointed by Hearthfire?

Post » Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:33 pm

I mean, before Skyrim's release, Todd said that they would have fewer expansions than FO3, but they would be bigger. So we thought "great, we get maybe 3 SI sized expansion packs" okay, well, Dawnguard came out. Well, I have not gotten around to playing it yet, but from what I understand, it is bigger than FO3 expansions, but no where near as big as SI. OK, so it was a little disappointing, but they still had 2 more chances to make memorable DLC? Right, right?

Then Hearthfire was announced.

Seriously, not only does this have less content than FO3 expansions, but it shouldn't even be considered an expansion in the first place. It should have been something miscellaneous added with a new area and quests like the ability to change your face in DG. Bethesda made backwards progress, as this is going to become Skyrim's horse armor.

hm well its only 5 bucks in my eyes that means its what it should be a 5 dollar add on that gives console players some tool to mess around with, and pc players an official mod i guess. that in mind its really only a dissapointment for ps3 players i mean heartfire anounced and ive been away for a bit but either ps3 gamers just got dawnfire or are still waiting, idk its all stupid

Yup, as a PC user I'm seriously disappointed by the fact that I'll have to wait another month.

No one said it was going to be an expansion anyway. No. One.

Nope. I'm absolutely thrilled, to be honest. This is the one DLC I've wanted since Gamejam.

I like the idea of being able to build something. But I would rather build my own fort or rebuild Helgen and make it my own fort or small town. I already own every house in all of the holds besides Windhelm.

Although you'll surely won't believe it, there are still people who likes to roleplay on a...ajem, roleplaying game. And doing something out of hack & slash is an importart part of roleplaying.

Me too, along with werebears :bunny:
All Hearthfire is, is a snack before supper. It's a little something, something to keep us interested as we wait for a more substantial DLC nothing more, nothing less. Besides it's only $5, I drink 3 times that in coffee a day so it's not asking much really for a small DLC.

I wouldn't mind if it was included as part of an add on to something else, in fact, that would be great, it's just that the long awaited hearthfire is only housebuilding. This is the kind of thing that should be left to mods, not paid content.

Mods won't help everyone, specifically those who don't play pc.

Sure, I wanted werebears and spears rather badly. But DAMN am I happy I get to build my own house! Can't wait to see all the options. Maybe I'll get werebears and spears in the next DLC. For now, Hearthfire is awesome. :D

And console users will never get mods. Are you denying that kind of content to them?

Besides, no one has ever said that Hearthfire was going to be a big DLC. And I'm happy with it (goodbye, 360 exclusivity, and fear of spoilers!).

Since it is only five dollars I don't see it as a bad purchase, though I had hoped that it would be a new questline(with a few side quests) and new locations. Hopefully carrots is right about it being a snack before supper and we can expect a really good DLC after this one, maybe even an expansion.

I'm glad it adds these mechanics. I still don't have mods and whatnot, as a PS3 player thinking about converting to PC, but if I haven't got the PC version by then this will be a great edition to my Skyrim game (if I do get the PC version, I might pick it up anyway.)

I always buy every expansion or DLC and regret it later  You can almost compare this to Gun runners arsenal, it's not a very large DLC, it really doesn't change much in the game but it does tie you over until the next bigger, better DLC hits.
