Anyone go no helmet? What difficulty?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:27 am

I alternate, but then again ive reached above 1k rating reguardless of helmet. i play only on master
That's no boast playing on master with smithing like that, pathetically easy.

I only ever take the steel and arcane smithing perks (if at all), it's more about how you play in most situations. I imagine I could do it on master with a heavy armor, block, 1h, conjuration and restoration character, I've never died on my level 60 character on master, don't even have full armor rating at that level.

I imagine if I played DiD I would die because I'd be to careful ha, can't be bothered to do that though.

I don't wear helmets, but that's because I'm usually wearing a hood.

You got to be kidding me right? with my first plarthrough I was a bosmer archer/conjurer I never once spent a single level on my health only magic to summon things to keep people and creatures away from me.any hit would kill me even from the lowest baddy I didn't ever wear a helmet because I wanted to see myself sometimes and it was all done on master.that was a real challange I had to take every fight seriously even when I was level 50. But then sadly I accidentaly erased my save and started over as a argonian mage on adept still no helmet.I plan on starting my bosmer character again when the dlc hits.

I am struggling with it on expert - I had to turn it down from master. Most enemies are fine, but at level 49, I run into some bad asses.

How about you? No helmet? What level? What difficulty? What class?

I've played three different characters on Master difficulty - stealthy Dunmer thief, 2-handed Nord barbarian and Breton mage. Never used a helmet as they cover up the PC's face.

I only made it up to around level 25-30 as combat started to seem like it was becoming too easy in most places, so I started a new character each time at that point. Recently installed some balance mods that should make things more challenging at higher levels for next time, however.

I've never used a helmet I like to see my characters face so I just wear a circlet. I play on Master.

I don't care for helmets either and I'm playing on adept. Plus, I only give my followers the kind that show their faces. With my warrior, I wore one on occasion to take advantage of an enchantment but I usually just wear the Mage's Circlet. With my Mage, the Arch-Mage's robes have a hood but I can still wear the circlet with those. I can't wear any armor at all if I'm going to take advantage of the Mage Armor perk, 3 levels, when I use the Stoneflesh spell. :tes:

Dunmer, level 45, Likes archery and Lydia as a follower. I found a Circlet of ultimate archery (+40 to Archery). I wear that and have my proud Dunmer face to the World. I wear light armour and do not miss the additional protection of a helmet. I get to see the targets well before they see me, and they feel the bite of poisoned pins soon after. (~300 hit points per arrow plus poison damage causes some effect at the receiving end - especially with multipliers and critical considerations).

i use the no helmet mod , you only need 3 armour pieces to recieve the perk bonus for armour , and i always play on expert , only early in the game when every point of armour is needed i used a helmet , later on with enough smithing and or enchantments i have more than enough ap s to survive at expert , just a question of tactics and playstyle

I always fight with a helmet and full armor on because of the looks. But when playing on master many enemies are capable of one-hitting me anyway, so I might just as well fight naked. :P

Adept difficulty, but with many mods that make the game harder (PISE, HBE with no instant healing potions etc).

<- My Argonian looks the best with this hat. Without anything he also looks much better than with a helmet.

i've never used a helmet, i find argonian characters look really bad with most of them, other then orcish that one actually looks decent on argonians, i think Daedric might look good but i'm not a high enough level to get on of them yet. :P

I played on Expert until this new character (who'll be a Master difficulty attempt), and I never use helmets. Most are so ugly that I just can't stand the sight of them.

I dont really like any of the Helmets. Although i havent created a Warrior style character. I've mainly played Thief/Archer , so you can get away with a lot less, hell, you can get away with wearing normal cloths. As avoiding Melee was the approach i took, and did my talking with pointy sticks.

In other words, you exploited the crap out of the game. Let me re-ask. Does anyone who DOESN'T abuse exploits do this? I let myself wear only Orcish armor but smithed to legendary (without potions or enchants)

You sure the armor exploit works? I thought the game caps the resistance of the armor at about 650 so any higher number has no combat value?

I play on adept and I never travel with a helmet on.
I do carry one for when I go into caves or forts or what ever.
I will put a helmet or hood on when it's raining but for the rest of my travels they stay off, even when fighting dragons.

I guess whether or not this is a good idea depends on what type of character you're playing. I play on master with a no sneak, no melee archer (see sig), and he only wears unimproved hide armor, and rarely dies simply because if you're getting hit often as a ranged class you're doing something wrong. In truth, I could easily play in ragged prisoner clothes. But as a heavy armor wearer, particularly with smithing, you can very easily hit the def cap with no helmet. As a light-armor, no smithing melee class, I doubt the def hit from not wearing a helmet will be very significant, even on master.
