Uh, Bethesda hired them to do the music for the game, right? By doing so, it becomes a "work for hire" (provided there is no contract stating otherwise). Whether it is a "work for hire" or simply "licensed", Bethesda has paid what they and the artist have deemed to be a fair and equitable amount, for the express use of the music in the game. (Please note that regardless of WHO owns the copyright for the music in Skyrim, it IS copyrighted. As such, the posters above that have stated that you have no "right" or "license" to rip the music are entirely correct. It would be "stealing", as it applies to copyrights.) Therefore, the statements like "buy this and support the artists", or "they did such a good job, we should support them" are a bit over the top. Most likely, they were paid a nice tidy sum, as well as royalties based on the number of copies sold.

Don't get me wrong...I think that if you like a movie/game/music you should support the studio/artist by purchasing their stuff. I was gonna say that even a 4 disc set was a bit over priced until I realized that they were autographed (signed?). Given that they are, and that they are signed in pen or sharpie or whatever and not just a computer generated signature, the price seems reasonable.

That's my two cents worth for this thread...carry on :)

I've not heard anything either.

There was no confirmation on my order e-mail, there's no way to contact the site & because it uses PayPal, I had to pay up front.

A bit of courtesy would be to at least keep customers informed in some way.

Did anyone else NOT have an e-mail to confirm purchase?

For those of you expecting it to ship and be received in a couple of day: PayPal checkout stated they were Standard Shipping (no carrier listed), however the shipping time was listed as 4-6 weeks. I am personally hoping this was a typo as that should not exist in this day and age, USPS is 7 day tops, and anything else, except the Pony Express, would be even faster than that.

It may have been junked by your e-mail provider I advise you check that. I received my confirmation within 30 secs of completing PayPal checkout.

Nope, nothing.

Just the PayPal payment confirmation. And seeing as I can't contact the site, it looks like I may have been swindled!

Motion picture soundtracks are sold for movies, game soundtracks are released for video games (sometimes). Yes, we can rip the files from the game, whether legal or not. What I'm saying is, the QUALITY is lessened in the game music files... if you want to hear it as it is meant to truly be heard as a standalone work, then buy the soundtrack. :)

I'm not here to smack talk people who want to listen to the music files from the game, but saying you own the soundtrack because you bought the game, and won't buy a separate soundtrack, just means you'll be missing out on the true quality of the work. Thats it :)

I was also a bit puzzled and lost using this site, and when I finally looked at my virtual basket, it stated that I had (or was about to) buy several dungeon siege and whatever soundtracks for a total amount of several hundred dollars. That scared me

Oh, I wasn't arguing the fact that the quality is better in the CDs. Nor was I saying don't buy the separate soundtrack. In fact, I support buying the soundtrack. (Personally, I won't be getting it, as I enjoy the music in game, but prefer other music OUT of game. Nor will I be ripping the tunes from the game files, as my enjoyment of them IN GAME isn't lessened if I don't.) I think, though we are saying things in a bit different ways, we actually agree. My other post was nitpicking the statement that I understood to be "if you like the music, buy it so the artist can get paid" as opposed to "buy it to show the artist that you appreciate the work involved."

So, we agree without realizing it, and I've said my piece....go ahead and smack talk folks all you want---I'm going back to just being a lurker in this thread to see what happens. Peace!

Still no email or update on my ticket. And yea I saw that 4-6 weeks thing to but that might just be PayPals default. Hell even if it is 4-6 weeks I would like a freaking email telling me its gonna ship.

See this is why I hate it when video game companies outsource to some random [censored] vendor. Why couldn't they just put the CD set on Amazon like normal people at least amazon would update you daily on the state of your order

Gah my whole post has to be redone. I agree. Jeremy SOule really did an amazing job. This in my honest opinion is his most epic work yet. I am usually the type to rip stuff off. I'll be honest. However this DESERVES payment. It was a hard amazing amount of work. 4 13-14 track cds. Signed by him. Made by a true artist in his craft. He has earned my money. He deserves my money. I will not rip off this man for such true genius as this. Now to askt he same question as earlier. has anyone YET to recieve their soundtrack. I am very worried too. I fear that someone sensed the aura of epicness from the box...and stole my cds mid transit. I am too broke to buy again got no response from directsong and I really WANT the music. I just fear the worst. they have no phone number to call (i tried the one emailed to me) andno service...sigh. {censored} postal service {censored} {censored}{censored} it! {censored}! :P OH well....their is the next day....and the next...not sunday...but maybe monday. T.T

Mine has yet to ship
Yea I'm checking my email daily looking for any emails from Direct Song, its not so much I'm "worried" its just I've never used Direct Song and hoping they send out a email saying "Your order was shipped"

same here i did a online order from them as in I got the Morrowind soundtrack via download and that worked fine but never got anything shipped before

All I was able to think was.. "is that it? cool Im gonna get the soundtrack soon" 2 weeks later..."WHERE THE HECK IS THE GODDANG SOUNDTRACK!!!!???"

Yep I am wondering the same thing! I went to my account to check the status incase they forgot to email and it says the same as the download MW soundtrack I got a year or so ago "Card Approved" thats all it says -_- Ok so u get my money 2 weeks later and no info?

I did a help TICKET with them I think on Nov 4th or something and NO ONE HAS YET TO REPLY TO IT!!

XD have you ever bought a video game OST before?

Most of the times depending on where you buy the prices are high or average, here is some examples

Chrono Cross OST: $40.00+ tax (3 disc)
Legend of Dragoon OST: $25.00+tax (1 disc)
Final Fantasy 13 OST: $80.00+ tax (4 discs plus 1 story disc)
Final Fantasy 7 OST: $40.00+ tax (3 discs maybe 4 discs)
Final Fantasy 9 OST: $45.00+ tax (4 discs)

As you can see diffrent prices but all in all even though this is signed the price for this is amazing!

Direct Song from the looks of it is Soule's own website. I think it will be a couple weeks before our order ships as Jeremy IS signing each one ordered. If he did nothing but it would still take him a couple hours to a week to sign them all depending on the number ordered, which considering the community involved I would hazard to guess maybe 1k-2k ordered which will take about 1-3 days of constant signing, man's hand would probably get tired after the first 300 or so. So patience is the key. Also by using direct song they ensure that every cent goes to the people involved i.e. Soule. With Amazon they would order the OST from whoever made them and Soule may not by notified someone purchased one. Considering these are signed on a per order basis, having a middleman like amazon would make signing the right number of OST difficult and would run the risk of someone getting a unsigned OST. So just be patient, they will be coming. gamesas wouldn't swindle us after already taking so much of our money. Also they said it would begin being shipped the week after 11-11-11. We may be notified the day it arrives for all we know, and this is the first Physical release on DirectSong so their website may not be updated to support actual tracking services, so we may not actually get a tracking confirmation email.

I for some reason doubt he is signing them, most of the time when i got stuff that says it is signed its just a stamp -_- but either way even if it is truly signed than why not just dish out 50 of them, sign them than ship those out asap or something and not wait till every single one is shipped.

I am kinda wishing that mine was not going to be signed now, yes I am not patient but I didn't care for the signature anyways since it will ruin the box art imho

The only REASON why I would care if it was signed or not is if I WAS going to sell it

Well even if the site isn't updated with tracking they can still give us the tracking number for the people delivering it, UPS, FedEx etc. I really don't care if mine is signed or not. All I do is get the disc, put them on my iTunes then put the CD's in storage as backup.

But anyway I'll monitor my emails and check for packages daily and update this thread if anything happens :)

They most likely aren't waiting whatever was ordered last since the beginning of Nov. till 11-11-11 will probably ship out this week sometime with those placed from 11-11-11 to when they ship the next batch going out the week after that.

They most likely aren't using a stamp as they would have shipped last week had they been stamped. And the signature if done by the man himself would make each persons a one of a kind piece (technically) as no two signatures are the same. If they are going to sign it it will most likely be on the black stripes over and under the box art using a sliver sharpie (again this is if they are doing it right). Having it signed is just a deal sweetener IMO. Trust me though, the music will sound so much better once you get the OST due to this wait. That first listen will be euphoric to your ears as your anticipation in so strong. But if it drags into Dec before anybody hears anything, you'll become angry with the whole deal, and will probably not have a good feeling about the music once you do get it. and you'll probably wait for the digital release next time as this didn't turn out so well.

Well the Direct Song site has a FAQ which will direct you to a Online Helpdesk where you can submit a question ticket, I did that and hoping to get a response. I don't think its a scam but it would be nice to get some idea when it will ship/arrive at my place

I tried emailing the store and submitting a ticket to change the quantity of my order from 1 to 2 (to save two lots of shipping), but absolutely no reply yet.
Apart from the initial paypal invoice, it's not at all easy to contact them or their customer service.

GUYS GUYS GOOD NEWS OMG I JUST GOT THIS EMAIL!
Hi Matt!

Thank you for your order! I just confirmed your order as being placed on the 5th.

The Skyrim Soundtrack CD’s are in transit to us from manufacturing at this time, and Jeremy Soule has to sign them before they are shipped out.

Because your order was on the 5th, your order will go out in the first lot.

Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

Best Regards,

Evan

Subject: About my order

My order (reciept is 2572-7972-4739-5077 ) was pre ordered weeks ago. I know it shipped sthis week but it i have to know if it should have been here yet. I have no way of tracking its progress and its almost been a full week at this point. no order ive ever made has taken this long to get here. I would very much prefer proof and knoledge if it even been sent. if it has then considering its been just over 5 days it should be here by now. I payed good money for this soundtrack i expect an equally appropriete delivery time. I am nto living in an out of the way spot and it should have been here. I worry something happened mid transit please get to me as soon as possible

Sincerly,
