[REQ] Armor Part Merge (Ancient NordSteel + StuddedScaled)

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 12:49 am

Here's the link to my version on Google Docs.

Yes, mine has draugr armor, hide armor, and pants. No, it has absolutely zero effect on my game performance. Yes, I left the bag and the Scrap piece on. Sorry this is kind of abrupt, I have to be leaving soon. Like I said before, I'll be able to check forums occasionally but won't have access to the game/any modding stuff for a week :( So I can't offer any support of my version until I get back!

Oh man, this stuff is great guys. I would make loads of requests if I didn't think it was to demanding. Got to learn how do this myself.

Hahah yes I am veythis olem , but I actually replaced the leather armour part of the armour to place a skin shader on it , unfortunately it has not the same uv coordinates , it didn't bother me much but I can always put back the leather texture so it will be fixed , unless I can put my hands on themodel itself and be able to reexport I guess we have to live with that if you want the uncovered belly , about the shininess I could easily fix it I guess in normal maps but I amnot sure how much woudl be needed to mess with the skin shader maps for that part ...

I'd appreciate it if you add the leather scrap back and fix the issue with the shadow, unless it's too much work. At least the issue with the non-existing shadow projection would be great.

@Eisoj5: I can't find the armor anywhere (even adding all armors with the console don't help). And the issue with the very skinny looking charakter after attaching the armor makes it useless for me (I'm not complaining).
I noticed that there is a "cuirasslight_0.nif" in the steel-armor folder, but I'm absolutely sure that there is no light-version of the steel armor.
Could that be unused models? If yes, it looks like you used one of those as a base for your armor (would explain the skinny issue). Better try using the ancient nord/draugr armor as a base.

I think you guys are heading the right way!

That looks really cool. Much better than the hide/studded bottom infact.

Looks great ingame!

I still hope you can fix the shadow problem on the Hide version, cause it looks a little better in my oppinion.

The other one works fine, thanks again for all your work and efforts!

I managed to takehttp://s14.directupload.net/file/d/2731/arvy935e_jpg.htm with an NPCs walking by who wears the original hide armor. There you can see that his lower part is affected by the shadows.

After using the other version (Tsun) for some time, I start liking that one more ^^
Really good idea! And I'm glad that my idea inspired you :)

I was playing with this type of idea last night (wanted the Redguard cape over miner clothes. It...works. Sort of. Have an interesting issue I've got to sort out with the _1.nif version) . Basically all I did was copy the texture files for each outfit with a new name. Then I created a new alpha channel on the Redguard clothes texture so that ONLY the cape part would be visible. In NifSkope I then opened the redguard clothes mesh and chose my new texture to confirm I'd done the alpha correctly. Copied that branch to the miner clothes mesh (this took some fiddling with node string ids to make it work).

Basically, http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/NifSkope_customise_an_outfit_for_beginners :)

Thanks for the tutorial Eisoj5, that helps.

Have you tried the normal hide if makes the same problem? I am not a nif expert so I am not sure what could be the cause of this lighning? surely some property in the nif file format ....

as for the TsunDraugr armor it's now my favourite one and will be the one I will use probably now on ^^ ..... very much liking it :) ...

I could have made a very shiny version with reflections inside but I went for a more rusted used look I actually have yet to add some scratches here and there ... may be I will make a second version shiny and polished with also a cape if you guys like ...

Hi guys, can someone give a step by step on how you are doing this? Here Eisoj5 says to load the texture files first and then the mesh, whereas the tutorial says use meshes and then render textures using autodetect (doesn't work for skyrim, tried inputting skyrim folder, didn't do anything.)

How do I:

1. Make Skyrim textures display on meshes in nifscope?
2. Copy meshes/textures on to each other?

Lets say I want to put the studded skirt with the ancient nord chest, like you have. What are the steps?

Basically my current understanding is at:

1. Extract textures/meshes?
2. Open nifscope
3. ?????

Sorry for being a total noob. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Specific question: What tool is used to do the above? I can't load textures into nifscope...

@Ryu: I set it to replace the default hide armor. I think. I only tested it on my hireling, not my own character, so not positive about anything.

@Wilting: Make sure you have the most current nif.xml file (best to check with throttlekitty re: that, there may be recent threads on that too). I can't really walk you through the exact steps I use, because, as I mentioned before, I'm not home and won't be until Monday.
