For recent movies, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1456635/ is one of the funniest comedies I have seen. The humor is dry and at times awkward, which is my favorite kind.

Anyone who is a fan of hockey and comedies, check it out. I rate it higher than Slap Shot.

2001: A Space Odyssey had a good plot and super interesting ideas, but it seems like it's praised simply because of its ambiguity. I mean, were the themes that profound?
What is the future of the human race? What ought to be the future of the human race? What could be more profound than those themes?

Aside from Titanic, there is a particular movie that I really liked that I have no idea what it was called. All I know, this woman trapped in her own home with her husband. She was trapped in a basemant, and when she was "freed", come to find out, he turned the whole house into a maze.

I found the theme to be exploring the idea of what caused us to evolve. How is it about the future of humanity?

It's not only about what caused us to evolve, but what our evolution means, and where it's going.

It's not only about what caused us to evolve, but what our evolution means, and where it's going.

Evolution is about weeding out the weaklings and producing a new generation more adapted than the current one. That's the only meaning to it. As a concept - it hates sick people, disabled people, stupid people, etc. But as a race, we tend to these people. So we are fighting natural evolution and shaping our own.

Oh crap. I've become involved.

Oops.

Edit: I don't think you're on line with Clarke and Kubrick on that one EvilFish.

At least one of my favorites isn't listed yet: Van Helsing.

But I would have expected the Lord of the Rings trilogy to be all over this thread, but it isn't.
