Eh, they said that now that the technology is actually developed, they wouldn't have to spend as much on the mocap tech they used. I enjoyed L.A. Noires gameplay and thought it was very good myself.

It still reallocates time and resources to a non-essential part of the game, when what games really need is good gameplay; 'cause, you know, they're games and not VNs. It was an alright game, but it was just alright.

That's what I already addressed though, they spent all that time researching the facial mocap tech and they got it, but now that they've developed it, they won't need to spend so much time and resources on it.

The best game that I've played so far this year is also the only new game I've played, FFXIII-2. Just beat it yesterday. Wasn't as good as the first and the ending really pissed me off.

I hope they don't. They could spend the resources on actually making a good game and gameplay, instead, then.
This.

, but now that they've developed it, they won't need to spend so much time and resources on it.
Not as much as before, but still way too much. [censored] graphics is the reason I have to put up with brainless gameplay/content these days, graphics is the most resource consuming part of development so they cannot risk not making big bucks, therefore they make the gameplay & story suitable for a infant.
Hardly even games anymore.....

EDIT: Oops Oof I did not see your 2nd post.

I see your position, and I still think the money they'd pay mo-cap actors, voice artists, coders and visual artists would be better allocated elsewhere. A difference in game priorities, I guess.

If F:NV Ultimate edition counts as a game this year I'll go with that.
If it doesn't I think borderlands 2 will the best this year, or halo 4.

Edit: Or Assassins Creed III

I think it's a little too early for this, once June 1st comes around then we can say what's the best game this year so far.

My best game of the year is still Alan Wake, but soon (some time this year, anyway; probably) we'll have http://www.gamesas.com/forum/163-general-discussion/ to faff over.

When does Firaxis' XCOM game come out. I expect that I will enjoy that. But assassins creed 3 and Halo 4 will more than likely top it.

No official date yet other than Q4 as far as I know.

I guess ME3 takes the number one spot although it's not super impressive so far.

Do you understand the meaning of "so far"?

They said fall 2012 at the end of the new video. Definitely one of the games I'm looking forward to this year.

Best games i've brought this year so far are:

SERIOUS SAM 3 BFE. Classic Serious Sam for the new century with tons of huge maps alive with nightmarish mayhem, humongous varieties of sanity destroying enemies from beyond, weapons that kill things and leave you happy afterwards, graphics that will have you screaming IS THIS REAL LIFE??? AGGHHH!!!

THE HAUNTED HELLS REACH. Raining buckets of fps blood and gore with plenty of inspiring wisecracks and druglike addictive gameplay which will have you going pale as white paper from not going outside. Remember..its only a game..its onLY A GAME..ITS ONLY A GAME.

So I'm changing my vote to Journey, it's simply incredible. I've played through it three times and each time feels vastly different. I'm amazed how in a age where heavily scripted games with dialogue and enormous budgets rarely capture the same emotion that a simple game like Journey does.

My best so far would have to be The New Vegas Ultimate Edition, followed by Reckoning. We'll see if the Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition and Dragon's Dogma top the Ultimate Edition.

My biggest disappointment so far and will probably be for the whole year, is Mass Effect 3.

Change my vote to Deardrops. KS was good and all, but DD is much better.
