Bethesda Please Upgrade The Character Creation!

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 1:35 pm

One of my favorite things to do in games is to create interesting characters.

From from Tv Shows or Movies/Music ect.

I haven't played Skyrim in months because I want to build some characters that as of now there is no way to build.

I would really like Bethesda to add more options for the character creation system.
and I encourage anyone who is reading this to keep this post alive and make up you own list of characters you would like to create and hopefully Bethesda will upgrade the Character Creation System.

Here are some things I would like them to add.

#1. The ability to change age/look of character like form 20's-70's

#2. The ability to change size of character.

#3. Add More
A. Complexions
B. Nose Types
C. Eye Shapes
D. Brow Types
E. Mouth Shapes / Lip Colors
F. Tons Of New Hair Styles (Most Wanted Curly Long Hair)
G. Ear Types & Ear Positioning

Here are Some Characters That I Wish I Can Make And Perfect For Skyrim

#1. Ronnie James Dio
#2. Merlin
#3. Bruce Campbell

Facial geometry is probably the one weakest things in any game to date. It's not all that flexible, and you can't get a lot of variety out of it. :/

I agree with putting in some different "types" of eyebrows etc though. That's insanely limited.

While I agree with having more options, the main thing I think they need to fix is the camera. It's very difficult to get a good look at what you're doing, especially the minute details.

I must admit I was quite disappointed when I discovered that you could not alter your character in any way after the very beginning of the game. I can understand not being able to change six/race/features as that would just be stupid, but I can't change facial/hair style, dirt or war paint? That seems a bit sloppy to me.

In Oblivion, FO3 and FONV you were given a second opportunity to alter your character before leaving the starting area of the game, it was possible to make a save just before this point to roll back to if you wanted to make a new character. I enjoy Bethesda's games, so its not unusual for me to make lots of different builds. Now however whilst playing skyrim I have to go through the same old beheading, dragon attack, dungeon crawl, etc blahblahblahboring EVERY single time I make a new character, and its kinda getting really old. Beth I love your games and I have bought all your DLCs(including horse Armour :stare: )please fix this. If you managed to fix the underwater effects(which I think is now awesome by the way!)than surely you could tweak this little problem.

Dio & Merlin would be so much fun especially if they add rideable dragons.

Wouldn't matter, the CK Char creator is just as limited, 70% of the sliders are gone, at least FO3 had the remaining sliders in the GECK. now your stuck with the overall shape of the face. options are ridiculously limited imo on vanilla

Alduin isn't the one bringing dragons back to life. It's Chuck Norris... with his FISTS!

This is absolutely, positively, one of the things I care LEAST about in Skyrim.

Spend 40 hours creating your character's face.... and wear a helmet the whole game

How you play and how others play are not one and the same. You'd do well to remember that.

There are those that choose not to wear helmets, whether for the sake of challenge or simple aesthetics. Just because you have yours on all the time and don't care for your character's appearance, does not mean others feel the same way.

I was surprised they didn't have an age slider or a hair length slider.

...which would be why a good number of us don't wear helmets. (One thing that's a definite improvement over Oblivion is the vanilla inclusion of circlets. Didn't have to go find a mod for that! :D)

10000% agree we need more options, I can make some nice looking characters but I need more facial hair options AND some more eyes and eyebrows :P

ALSO maybe add some limited face shape options (now all bretons have round faces, all altmer have triangular...etc) I want to make a human-isk altmer for example or a tough looking breton and its HARD (almost impossible sometimes)

In my opinion Dragon Age Origins has the best character --at least for me. My problem is that the character I see in the character creator in Skyrim isn't the one who comes out of the cave. Thankfully I have the game on PC and can use the console with "showracemenu."

Meh, Dragon Ages character creator was pretty limited tbh. Eve online supposedly has one of the best http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=safari&q=eve+online+character+creator&oq=eve+online+chara&aq=1&aqi=g5&aql=&gs_l=mobile-gws-serp.1.1.0l5.15012.16678.0.19011.6.6.0.0.0.0.335.335.3-1.1.0...0.0.&mvs=0

Dragons Dogmas character creator is very impressive though and is included in the demo.

Having showracemenu is a godsend on PC though. There are quite a few mods out that improve the character creation experience.

I'd love to have more options when it comes to tweaking the facial features. The nose sliders seem especially lacking. I'd like to be able to do such things as narrow the nostrils or widen the bridge...lots of nose tweaks missing. I'd also like to have a complexion for the humans that doesn't come with forehead wrinkles. I'm in my thirties and I still don't have forehead wrinkles yet!

I thought the facial models were much better than oblivion, the dark elves look more like they did in Morrowind, but in Oblivion they looked like blue pleasent people lol. Same as Orcs.

The sliders were indeed replaced with presets, I guess they could have included both.

Having played the Guild Wars 2 beta, I have to say I wish the character creator here included full rotation, a zoom function, and a toggle clothing function. Also, a fully unlocked color palette.

At least give us an age slider please.....I hate when they remove things like this. At the very least a sequal should take what it's predessesor did right and build upon it. What's the value in everyone looking middle aged? Or high elf characters being shorter in firs person than they are in third person? Really dissapointing for me. Every character I make has wrinkles on his or her face. The old grizzled look is cool sometimes but why limit us? Sometimes I want to make a young thief, or a supernatural mage that doesn't age. It's just frustrating that every character I make looks like s/he is about to have a midlife crisis....
