Bethesda Slogan

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:21 am

I was just looking at the UESP page on Bethesda. And I noticed this listed as Bethesda' slogan.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/General:Bethesda

First, I was all like: WTFBBQ

And then I was all like: LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I just laughed so hard my ribs hurt, does anyone else think it's funny?

I'm guessing you're laughing at the sixual innuendo. Meh, not that funny.

Crappy slogan though, they should change it.

Yeah I noticed it a while ago... I... try to pretend it doesn't exist. :obliviongate:

That kind of slogan is okay for tiny little independent developers. But this is Bethesda. They really need to change their slogan. That was a fine slogan when they were just a little developer in the 90's, but it doesn't properly suite them now.

Is this for real? Surely Bethesda can't actually have innuendo that blatant (yet hilarious) in their slogan?!

Gstaff paid him to do it!

I mean type that on the wiki, not do what the slogan suggests.

Well, it's been cited occasionally as "official slogan" since at least 2002, but never appeared on any official Bethesda material that I can identify. I think that makes its authenticity questionable (but amusing nonetheless).

They're not some god amongst game developers that needs to keep to some imagined standard you're coming up with out of nowhere. It's just a bit of fun from what I see, it's good to see they have a sense of humour.

...Interesting slogan, as I suspect most people immediately saw the sixual...reference.

I really hope it isn't. I'm guessing Julian Lefay made that motto up in 1991 and nobody thought to change it, and thus it was forgotten.

I suppose it's quite funny, but for a professional company I find that it's a little pathetic -- no offence, Bethesda.

I don't know about you, but I don't take game developers that make their slogan a sixual innuendo very seriously. If I wasn't a fan of Bethesda already I'd probably have less respect for them after seeing the slogan. If it's really their official slogan, of course.

And yes, I have "imagined standards," they're called, y'know, personal standards.

Maybe EA can have a motto like "you will be assimilated".

My local radio station had the Motto "coming in your ears" although that was a reference to a Peter Kay skit it was still brave of them to use it.

I always thought an appropriate motto for EA is "Assuming direct control."

Poor Todd, not getting any action.

Todd: "hey guys you did't say we were having a par-"

Lefay: "back in the coding room Todd, Daggerfall ain't gonna build itself!"

Todd: "one day this will be mine, and I will keep crappy slogan to ruin credibility. Mwahahahah!"

I always thought an appropriate motto for Bethesda would be "sixeh."
