Blackreach did it for me

290 hours in, still haven't been to Blackreach. There's a lot of things I still haven't done in Skyrim yet. I've the only questlines I've completed are College of Winterhold and Civil War (Legion)

Blackreach is pretty awesome I can;t imagine how much time and work they put into just that one place in the game. I love it down there just for the fact of how perfectly magical it is.

I have to admit Blackreach was one of my "OH WOW" moments in the game. But after a while it became creepy and I just wanted out. It's a beautifuly done area and I have to give the developers credit for creating something so gorgeous and so creepy at the same time. Skyrim has quite a number of truly spectacular sites though. I still haven't gotten sick of the view atop the Throat of the World, or standing watching the icebergs in the Sea of Ghosts, or taking in the beautiful mountain valley around Whiterun (looks very similar to the area I live in).

It just made me annoyed that I couldn't thoroughly enjoy it because I couldn't see well.

Love hate. Feel ya.

Blackreach gave me the same kind of feeling that the lost city of Karath-din from the original Thief did. They certainly don't look alike, but they both had the same sort of creepy/cool effect on me. Huge underground city, long abandoned by its original inhabitants, overtaken by dangerous beasties... Blackreach took it to the next level, though, since it's steeped in Dwemer lore, and of course, most of their contraptions and machinery still work...

I definitely appreciated the place... I've only played through the area on one character, but I swear I must have spent at least 8 hours down there, just checking everything out and exploring every crevice. This jaded gamer doesn't use the word "epic" to describe things in game-dom very often these days, but Blackreach probably qualifies.

Another thing that blew my mind... before I'd ever even set foot in the place, I'd discovered a handful of those Dwemer phonebooth-looking things, and had NO idea what they were for. When I discovered that they were Blackreach elevators, I was like... whoa.
