By the time I got Boone I already had full set of T-45d armor in ED-E's inventory, that awaited for my first human companion.....so Boone was heavly armored from the first moment I got him and now on hard/hardcoe he is a walking tank - even a full pack of Cazadors can't match him. :D

Boone is an ex-NCR special forces sniper and you people are complaining about him being overpowered?!

He's being good at what he does, at what he was trained extensively for and gained a lot of experience doing afterwards, and you're all complaining about him being OP?!

Personally I think he's a god-send; combat was a [censored] for me up until I found him and my character is relatively balanced.

I love Boone and I am combat focused. My energy weapons are at 90
and guns at 80

Boone is quiet and will only talk to you to fulfull his personal quest at bitter springs
yes he hates the legion because they took his wife and unborn child

once that quest is finished he will get one of two armour types
which you can take if you want to
you do realize all of your companions have personal quests?
i just finished ed i and rexs quest

i am level 22 have found about 130 locations so far so boone is ideal in that respect

as i like to find everything first, did the main quest only up to wear i got my suite from house

the great khan and ncr love me as do the mutants, thanks to boones help
yes i know the different endings so i plan my direction accordingly
freeside also accepts me, working on that and the brotherhood
wish it would be a really big battle

if you are pro legion than boone is not a companion for you

we will be heading for ceasars fort and i plan on wiping them all out including ceasar
will make boone happy and i can than finish his personal quest

the game is less glitchy still freezes so i stop playing after an hour or so, seems to work

I wish there was a Grim Reaper style Robe garment in game so i could dress Boone in it. Death wielding a sniper riffle is pretty much what boone is, perhaps a sickle as his melee weapon for addded lawlz.

if i tell boone to leave, where will he go in case i want to team up with him again?

Even more important, if i tell boone to leave is there any chance i might anger him and find myself in his sites later on 0.o

Boone + Cowboy Repeater = Carnage

Seriously, give Boone an accurate, powerful, high RoF weapon and he will dominate almost everything. My only problem is finding enough ammo for him :)

Also, does anyone know if weapon mods work for weapons you give to your companions? I noticed they don't show up visually, but I'm not sure if the effects are there or not.

Edit: If you tell Boone to leave when you have the Lucky 38 suite, He basically says "Whatever you say, boss." and goes there. I don't know where he goes if you tell him to go elsewhere or you don't have the suite, I assume Novac.

I just got Boone and I realised he's very good with the sniper. The thing is that I wandered WEST (like top of map, left side) where the two statues are... The only things I met till I reached the statues by the borders were like 15 ghouls and scorps. IT felt awesome, walking in plain sight, shooting my pistol while he was killing most of them with the sniper. As I was walking, he was taking care of the scorps while keeping up, I was shooting with my pistol as well. Was really great. I don't see why people whine. Yes he's good, he kills fast but he's an experienced guy IN game, also a sniper being, you'd expect him to take a guy out with two shots assuming the experience he has and the fact that sniper + head = lethal. I don't mind him.

When I first met him I felt underpowerd to him for sure. Now im lvl 16 and told him to stay at the back and it actually works pretty good now. I run in guns blazing, while Boone picks them off from the back.

I feel Rex is underpowerd though, he is always the first to drop in any fight.

i like lilly myself. using her for the mission into charleston cave made my life alot easier. however on my first playthrough im not using companions in a permanent sense. if you let lilly use her vertibird blade, it balances things out (as she has a silenced assault carbine otherwise)

Referring to the mini-table I made http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1128920-companion-nerve/page__gopid__16555489&#entry16555489 if your charisma is at 5 he does +25% damage, at 10 he does +50% damage. I missed pages 2,3 because I wanted to find this topic and explicitly point out that Charisma affects your companions Nerve i.e: Armor/Dam' levels. I believe the community is unaware of this, especially as I see a lot of companion threads cropping up about OP'ness. Combine that with Boone's rifle and he is very powerful.

its a numbers game really. Boone can not handle vast amounts of enemies, especially Legion troops.

Good god that was a blood bath, soo many chainsaws.

I disagree, I bought Boone and Rex with me right into the heart of the Legion. There were so many of them, I ended up hiding in a tent, I heard many shots and the battle only lasted about a minute, I walked out of the tent and Boone was just stood amongst the 20 or 30 so Legion corpses, he's a beast.

I just got him to come with me recently. I haven't really had a chance to see how he does things with ED-E.

When the right opportunity comes along ... :gun:

An upgraded Raul is a an excellent combat alternative, I think. Also, I like his hat better.

Boone sure showed those deathclaws and cazadores while questing for remnant armor! Not too mention that I fell off the Hoover Dam and there was boone jumping into the water with me. We are like brothers now (my char and Boone)

Playing on normal difficulty on hardcoe mode... Boone literally kills everything before I even have a chance to shoot it 9 times out of 10. I like that he's a cool sniper and all, but I feel like telling him to go away because he makes combat too easy and ruins my fun of killing things. ED-E by contrast is much, much weaker... not sure about any other companions, haven't gotten any.

Anyone agree?

I play sniper characters and the perk he gives is nice along with the Eye-bot, however he struggles against melee NPC's.
