C'mon. Now I'm all for phasing out the monarchy but the kid isn't even a week old. Just wrong to insult someone that isn't even a week old and hasn't done anything aside from perhaps yawn, dribble and sleep.

Unless you have to live with them. In which case it's cathartic.
kinda off topic for a second but, Hicks233, I love your Avatar, Clannad is such a great anime, and Fuko is hilarious...
Okay, back on topic:
anyone else surprised at the Babies Weight? if you look at the footage they had here on CBC for the past week, she did not look all that pregnant...
The Windsor's are just more British (and racially oblivious in regards to the Prince Consort) Kardashians.
That said, I did meet Prince William when he came to my town after it was destroyed in a cyclone, and he was a nice guy.
I'm glad I'm not in the royal family. The coverage Prince Harry gets is ridiculous and would svck for him.
Yeah, the Royal Family is an integral part of British culture. It's a symbol of lingering class division and inegalitarianism. It's not something to be celebrated or looked up to. The fuss about this birth deserves to be ridiculed and scorned.
Always good to have some Clannad!
I just wish that the media would give the parents and child some privacy. You just know there are going to be sniping comments if Kate isn't up and about within a month and has lost the baby weight, prancing round for the media's delight
I really don't have a problem with the people but with the system of monarchy. I do wonder if they sometimes wish they were private citizens without the hassle and intrusion that they do have. It's a little disheartening that this child is essentially going to have their life mapped out for them. A gilded cage. Sad really.
You know, this is supposed to be a joyous occasion, the birth of a healthy child and a celebration of British culture.
But all these rude and hate-filled comments from others have just ruined it. I understand if you're against the idea of a monarchy, or don't like Britain, but being so spiteful and just mean towards a happy thing, then this thread can be closed.
I can't believe this many people came and were so rude, without moderator interception. To think that members who have been here so long came and just insulted Britain and its culture is disgusting. If you're one of those people who get a kick out of saying such horrible comments towards a newborn child and spitting in the face of Britain, then you are scum.
I don't see what the royals have done to deserve respect (or derision for that matter), they are kind of.... non-entities, they are just celebrities who are related to more relevant and succesful personalities, kind of like Elvis's daughter.
I can't recall them doing anything paticularly role model worthy.
it certainly can't be easy being a kid in the Royal Family, especially when you are in line for the throne.. the eyes of the world are upon you...
Sorry to burst your little bubble of misguided nationalism.
Exactly! It's difficult enough growing up no matter where in the world you are. There's a tinge of cruelty to heaping even more expectation and social demands on them. I remember when Diana was buried. Seeing William and Harry - it was horrible having them receive a commentary. Just leave them to their grief...
I think that's one of the reasons why Harry is thought quite fondly of. He's a bit of a muppet but a relatively ordinary guy. Relatable and a goofball. Hopefully this child has the freedom to be who they want to be, not constrained by a social hierarchy and all the gumph that comes with it.
Now you know how America feels . I don't feel any ill will to the royal family (except that one kinda racist old guy), but I don't see why you think they represent British culture any more than, say, British cuisine.
And everyone who spits in the face of Britain is scum? What about William Wallace?
I dunno, when major Natural Disastors happen (and I mean MAJOR, like Haiti Major), they have (if the nation is part of the commonwealth) actually sent Money and Relief supplies, and on occasion even organized Fund raisers among the Nobles.
I was going to just delete the spam from here, but there's over 30 posts that I considered to be deleted... so the thread is closed.
