I Can't Believe I Never Knew This!

Wow, wow... Thanks OP! I had no idea and actually I was not selling stuff sometimes just because it was a mess finding things on that list.
Continuous drinking is a new one too, I love this thread.

I've been playing Fallout 3 for years and New Vegas since it came out a day or so ago and I NEVER EVER knew that you can click the little arrows at the top of a trade screen to sort by item type.

Oh... My... God... Becky. Look at that list... *dum dum dum dum* I like BIG BUTTONS and I can not lie!

*kills himself and then the hostages*

This is the single most useful post I have ever seen on the internet.
Really.
I completely missed that feature.

I agree. Even though it makes me feel I've been riding the Fail Train.

You do also know that you can turn on flaslight by holding the pip-boy button ...

I didn’t discover this until well into my second play through of F3. So ….some two hundred something hours of game play to figure out what most people knew from the start. Ever since I started using Steam I stopped reading manuals - used to read them while waiting for the game to load from the discs.

I didn't know that for FO3 either until I requested a mod for it like a month or so ago and people were like "It's already in the game!"

Huh!

Next time you're surrounded by enemies...

Push and HOLD the VATS key.

Great thread.

I didn't know about the continuos drinking either, nor about the F1-3 shortcuts, thanks for those advices!

Today I just found out accidently that you can push brahmin, that's so funny (poor brahmin though).

All the time that I was playing FO3 I didn't know this clock-like thing at the left of the pip-boy shows how irradiated you are. :whistling:
I thought it was pure decoration and did always look in the pip-boy menu to find out my rad-level. I figured it out when I read the NV-manual.

ok, truth time. duh.

I didn't know about the Pip-Boy light either.
I didn't know how to grab an item and carry it in front of me.
I never ran into DogMeat and didn't know you could have 2 companions. I only had Fawkes late in the game.

I had a great time in Fallout3 even though I did everything I could to unknowingly make it harder.

I recall a thread where someone listed being unable to sort items and having to scroll the entire list as a point in a vitriolic complaint. So you're not the first.

I've had Fallout 3 since release day and only just realized that activating a tame Brahmin while in sneak mode makes your character push it over. Did you guys know that?

Are...are you serious? Never knew that, never thought to try to steal from a brahmin in sneak mode.... interesting.... *runs to shelf and frantically gets out FO3

Oops, I didn't realize the thread was this old.

Oh well, I guess that's okay since the thread is about confessing you were dumb.

@Rini20: No need to get out FO3, you can do that in NV too.

Hey, no complaint here. Now I have to go home and hold down the VATS button to figure out what the heck it does. I use VATS a lot!

Also, better to consolidate into fewer threads than to have a dozen threads on the same topic. Makes searching easier.

Actually last night I just figured out you can continously drink water out of like the sink and lake and stuff, I had been pressing X every time.

If you have sidescroll on your mousewheel you can use it to sidescroll through the tabs in your PipBoy.

You can use the wheel to move through the item categories too, though this tiny hidden feature is rather buggy and sometimes it won't respond unless you click one of the arrows first.

Holy pancakes, I never knew about item sorting or continuous drinking!!! I'm gonna try out that holding V thing too. Pushing brahmin is actually a throwback to Fallout 1 and 2, where you could do the same thing.

Does the VATS scanning work on the 360? How about drinking continuously?

My brother plays on the 360 and put about 200+ hours in FO3 and he didn't know about the option to pick up items and hold them in front of you until NV came out and I described it to him.

Also of note: I have yet to be yelled at or attacked for picking up items and holding them in front of me, walking to a place I am hidden, and then stealing it. Anyone else? First time I had to do this was when I'd stolen some NCR armor, tried to give it to Cass and she dropped it to the ground in the middle of the strip. I just picked it up, wandered out of sight, went to sneak-mode and "took" it again.

When playing fallout 3, for the first 2 or 3 weeks, I didn't know you could "wait." I pressed select by accident, and saw the wait option. a true "d'oh!" moment. :(

Holy hell. I did that in oblivion through 76 hours of gameplay. When I found out, I scrapped the character because it was a level 12 jumper, level 2 swordsman.

I got the Pipboy light thing from the manual I think but it took me a couple of months to realize I could hold down the E key and drink continuously. Did it by accident and was all like :o

SAME, I was talking to someone on the same room as me (IRL) and kept my finger
on the space-bar, I looked back and was like OMG!!!!!!!
