Hey, what's wrong with a southern accent? :glare:

Well there's nothing wrong with it...I just find it hard to understand and I can't take it as seriously as people up here in New England. Just my personal opinion

It has nothing to do with fitness. My math grades aren't high enough for me to be taught how to use a rifle and act as cannon fodder.

And not to make this political, but we've had forces in the middle-East for several years now, anyway.
You need maths to use a rifle ? Bjorn has 24 rounds, he has fired 16 rounds. How many more shots until he must reload.

I didnt know that, all I hear about is US/UK stuff, if you guys are there too, thn you should get a mention once every now and then.

i never understood that IM A MAN MEN DONT FEEL thing. what the [censored] is supposed to be good with that. though of course wimps are not cool either, but most people aren't. people should just be honest and act [censored] normal
I have no idea about it either. Personally I would rather a person who dosent seem like a sociopath.
I dont show much emotion at times, hear deaths on the TV, to me those are jsut names and statistics. At my grandfathers funeral, I didnt want to cry, that was due to the atmosphere, I dont think it would help anyone, only mke them more depressed. But yeah, even I get weirded out by some peoples lack of emotion.

"Derp, duurrr! Sixtyten rounds!"

No, I wouldn't really say so. They probably just want their cannon fodder to be able to figure out what:

1x - (2 + 4x) / (-33x) = ???

We probably have too few casualties to be worthy of mention outside of Norway. Our troops are too busy looking out for RPG fire, they rarely have time to die.

yea exactly. i value rationality though, get sad over deaths on tv? no, i don't give a [censored] about people i don't know (but i care about society if you see the difference), and if i did, i'd had to worry about E V E R Y O N E in order to not be hypocritical and that's not happening lol. everyone knows there's a lot of [censored] happening that we don't hear about, but you can't go around and worry about it.
about crying at funerals i agree, i've thought the same. not crying in certain situations where it's expected doesn't make you insensitive, everyone has their reasons for doing what they do.

my point is that feelings should be rational, and as long as they are, feelings are good.
i like feelings but i don't trust them. that works out just fine for me.

Welsh is pretty old. Allthough im not sure if Gaelic borrowed Welsh stuff, or Welsh borrowed Gaelic stuff. So my guess is one of those two.
A quick wiki search reveals that linguists believe that modern day Welsh is descended from Middle Welsh (and they are generally considered two different languages), which is descended from Old Welsh (so far so obvious), which is descended from some sort of possible shared British or Brythonic language, which is itself descended from a hypothetical/theoretical "Proto-Celtic" language. This proto-Celtic language, along with all of its descendents, is part of the Indo-European language family, and thus has probable common ancestry with English (obviously), Latin, Russian, Greek, Sanskrit, Hindi and Urdu. Amongst hundreds of others.

As for borrowing from other languages; what about more modern words, like computer, or car, or astrophysics? Welsh borrows those from English, which in turn borrows them from other languages.

Touche. I just have a problem with the potential idea of 'text speak' becoming the English norm. :shakehead:
I posted this in the last thread, but I think it has relevance here.

I will start this off by saying that I am Canadian and I love being pedantic.

The English language is actually a combination of dozens of other languages probably the most notable being Latin. Language is always changing, not only do English speakers speak radically different then we did 800 years ago, but it was very different even 100 years ago. Hello was originally used as a gesture of surprise and not as a greeting, but this changed because language will always evolve and nothing we do will stop this. The vast majority of English speakers speak it as a second language. This means that the language is going to be influenced even more by other languages then it has been before.

A guy I know said that he really hated it when someone told him to chillax, "Why smoosh two words like chill and relax together when they both mean the same thing?", he said. I replied, "You don't like it when people meld words together?" "Not when it doesn't make sense."

Then I asked him why he found no problems with the word meld. Meld is a combination of the words melt and weld and originally meant to appreciate something. Every sentence we say in the English language is both a bastardized and harmonized amalgamation of dozens of other languages and I love it for that.

This very interesting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OI5uekd517s&feature=player_embedded explains the origins of the English language.

I have yet to kiss a girl, like a real serious kiss. I don't see it happening anytime in my future either. But it doesn't bother me all that much.
Sometimes I choose not to like certain things because everyone else likes them.
I may be intelligent, but quite often I feel like a ditz. Lack of common sense, that type of thing.

That's one the reasons why a rainbow-colored cartoon pony isn't my favourite character in a certain tv show.

They're good at wearing shoes, though. Anyway, though aesthetics may be a matter of debate, be kind to your feet, they do a lot of hard work what with being stood on for much of the day.

As long as they are covered with either shoes or socks, I am fine with them. Just because I hate feet doesn't mean I don't take care of mine or am happy that I have feet. I like my feet, but no one else's...

But barely anyone likes Rainbow Dash, I'm pretty sure most people like Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy.

I've always thought dragonite looked incredibly dumb.

I have a hard time crying, even if I really want to. I can think of maybe two situations that I have cried in, I can think of hundreds I wish I could have cried in.

Oh, and on Southern accents: Most of us sound nothing like what you hear on television. They exaggerate to the point of ridiculousness, most of the time because the only places they have heard supposedly 'Southern' accents are on television.

Stockings and dangling pumps...there...I said it.

That is not ugly.

I've sometimes caught myself bobbing my head to deathcore bands  .. but I refuse to accept that genre! (out of jealousy partly.. It bothers me that there's countless female deathcore fans and yet maybe three or four black metal fans :( maybe if black metal musicians would get better haircuts lol)

oh and also there's the fact that it svcks too

I used to think I was better than most everyone; then I realised I'm just different; now I think I'm almost just like everyone else.

I find cultures' attitudes toward nudity, underwear and fashion fascinating. They say a lot about what this or that people value and how they operate. Which is why things like the female Forsworn armour just rub me wrong. :)
