Crash on Startup Issues

This is the error I get every time i launch RAGE on steam. I have updated my drivers to no avail, i hope someone can help me D:

Installing new AMD Drivers, not that it will help with crashing while loading quick save or zoning..

I downloaded off steam, as soon as I hit play the game crashes. Is there an eta on a fix, if not does anyone know how I can get a refund?

I get the same message after I installed the AMD hotfix as I did before installing it.

Day 1 problems on PC games almost always happen. Can't say for an eta for a fix (a LOT of people are already having all kinds of issues with the game) since I don't know what caused any of the issues we're all seeing, but I'd imagine that it'll be in a few days at the longest (hopefully, I've seen games that are still not fixed years afterwards, but I doubt ID and Bethesda would let it go that far).

As far as a refund, you'll have to take that up with Steam support. Good luck with that though.

This AMD hotfix solved my CTD problem. If you are experiencing crashes on launch, try the hotfix. I can confirm this hotfix just allowed me to run the game.

Prior to installing the hotfix I experienced about 15-20 CTD on launch.

I have AMD 5830m GPU and I can verify that this hotfix solved my CTD problem

Tried installing the hotfix a second time and now it's finally loading up. Now I'm getting the same issues everyone else is getting. Poor textures, freezing every 5 seconds, etc... Here's my system specs:

Operating System: Windows Vista? Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002)
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Memory: 3326MB RAM
Card name: ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series

Edit: I really wanted to play this tonight, but oh well. I love ID and Bethesda. I'm going to have faith that a patch is on its way soon enough.

Hopefully that's enough information to get this bug sorted out. I saw that there was some AMD hotfix but the link I went to seemed to be for Windows 7 and I'm using Windows XP so I don't think that that is for me.

EDIT: I just tried the AMD CTD Fix thing and it didn't do anything for me. I also restarted steam (duh) and that didn't work either.

Using Steam (not sure if its a steam only game or not)



First during unlocking steam crashed at 66% restarted steam it jumped to 100%

It took while doing first time start up on part 1 of 2. which is the vcredist I think.

Then

It looked like it was going to load and then crashed. It did this a couple of times.

I checked for driver updates as I was told to make sure everything was updated. It is.

I used the rage performance drivers as im using a amd radeon hd 6750m

Now the game wont launch at all. It still does first time setup for redist , steam says im playing rage. When I open task manager rage is in the list but if I try to end process it crashes task manager.

My computer then freezes (sometimes) and then it says I either get a error 51 or the game is unavailable.

Now I am re downloading the game.... 21gigs. any ideas how to fix this ?

A BEX Event error is a Data Execution Prevention error. I cannot add this application to the DEP exclusion list (because DEP is forced on most x64 compatible applications). I am dead in the water until I figure out why the rage.exe is either trying to access dedicated windows memory or red flagging the HW/SW DEP checks.

Edit: I forgot. I tried all the normal troubleshooting. Validated steam files, installed latest drivers, etc...

Edit 2: I tried on a whim to disable my Page File and see of another windows application was loading into the same area as rage, no dice. This has got to be an issue with my hardware configuration as I have not see a single post that is similar. Ill post some of my dx diag info (with erroneous info removed for sake of easy reading) below. Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

I have the same problem. Anyway it installed DirectX right before trying to play mbe that has something to do with it. Although this is pretty standard behavior.

FIXED

I needed to install the latest HOTFIX from AMD for my ATI Radeon. This appears to be a driver issue. I'm now ingame.

i had the same issue, update all of your drivers, then Restart your computer. worked for me hope it works for you.

I had this same error. What worked for me to resolve was a driver update to my vid card. I know you said you've already done that, but was that before or after downloading and attempting to launch the game? I updated afterwards, and am launching now with no errors. Maybe updating after attempting to launch and getting this error helped in the game recognizing the proper Video Memory settings. I was receiving the: "GL_ARB_draw_elements_base_vertex not available" error when attempting to launch though Steam or directly from the .exe in the steamapps folder, but now I can launch from either with no issues. I'm running dual nVidia GTX 260's in SLI and updated to version 280.26 of the firmware. Not sure if my experiance is just a fluke or will help, but thought I'd mention it. Good luck!

I am running windows 7 on a macbook pro early 2011 via bootcamp and everytime I try to start the game i get this error:

I cant get driver updates because everytime I try I get this:
AMD Catalyst mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on your computer. Your computer does not contain a proper graphics adaptor
I have a Radeon HD 6750M 1GB GDDR 5

I have installed the latest drivers from AMD. What Hotfix did you use? I have a 5700 and the only hotfixes I found were for 4xxx and lower.

Do you have a link you can sport me where you got it?
