Creating a fantasy fox race.

I was leaning towards a humanoid fox race. That sounds kind of cool.

Using the Lilmothiith as a basis is going to be hard though, as they have no lore to work off of.

If you're not limited to D&D races and like being a mage I would go with http://legacyofkain.wikia.com/wiki/Hylden.

Created in the dark ages as a collaborate effort. Right here on these very forums, born of dark minds. I was one of the larger contributers to its creation along with our host and several others. Though many voted. http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=11013.0

Well, I'm doing humanoid foxes, so too late, I'm afraid.

It probably wouldn't fit in anyways. Too dangerous and powerful.

Could anyone help me? What sort of weaponry or magic fits in with foxes?

I'm not reading an entire book to find out an ability that hopefully someone here could provide in a fraction of the time. I've got more important things to be reading.

That was a hint that some of us also have more important things to do with our time than create a world for you to play in.

It's not really creating a world. I'm asking what weaponry or magical abilities you'd personally associate with a fox, like how people associate archery often with elves.

If you don't have the time, why are you bothering to make a post stating that you don't have the time, instead of doing whatever must be done so urgently in your life?

Also, when I say important, I mean physically have to.

As much as I'd love to read it, because I am sure it is good, I have two books that I physically have to get through in the next two weeks. Not for a hobby or enjoyment, but because I have to. That takes precedence. Maybe, afterwards, I'll read them. But, frankly, I'd rather not wait a month to sort this character out. I want to start using it in the next few days.

I'm just asking for what weapons or magic or abilities everyone would personally associate with foxes. It's the same as how wood elves are usually synonymous with archery in Skryim.

I agree with the others, you can go and do your own work. I thought you were simply looking for suggestions, but now I see its more or less a thinly disguised veil for free work.

Believe what you like, but I am still asking for suggestions: this time on unique weapons or magical abilities with a foxy feel. Asking for suggestions on a role-playing build is hardly asking for free labor. People do it all the time on the Skyrim forums. Plus, if nobody wants to help, they really don't have to reply. I don't understand the problem.

Maybe it's obvious, but a Fox would make a great thief. Maybe with abilities to cloak, or move without making noise.
And probably use archery, daggers.

Also, maybe check out Foxlings from the Shining Force games: http://shining.wikia.com/wiki/Foxling

Thank you. I'd like to avoid bows, as I did that with a wood elf character earlier. Any items similar to a bow maybe?

Daggers could work. My wood elf wasn't sneaky or a thief. A thief could be fun.

In a series I'm working on, I have a fox race called the Kitsu (Derived from Kitsune, the Japanese word for fox). Mostly played trickster roles and testers, and primarily specialized in magics relating to creating illusions or curses, as well as fire for offensive moves. Also used daggers and slings in battle, preferring to avoid direct conflict with either ranged attacks, or deception and stealth. Came in a variety of flavors from mostly humanoid to basically bipedal foxes. They could see with their eyes closed, and usually opened their eyes only to place curses on people. Their tails were their main thing of honor, with members of noble houses having more tails than commoners, and the royalty having nine tails (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Ninetales_(Pok%C3%A9mon)). One of them, a bandit/thief-esque character called Kit, joins up with the rest of the team because he's ostracized for losing his tail, which is also why he goes by Kit instead of his true name.

Thanks. That's great. I'll certainly use it as a solid basis. Slingshots could be fun. They handle quite differently to bows, after all. Maybe some magic too? I did Illusion with another character though, so do you think there are any other fields that fit with a foxy theme? Fire, perhaps?

Slingshot

Maybe Dual Daggers

A Type Of Magic

Foxes are often associated with using small magic for tricks, cantrips of all sorts, be it insignificant fires, illusions, poison or other magic tricks. So if I was designing a fantasy fox race I'd have them use all sorts of small throwing weapons, darts, throwing stars, throwing knives and so on, imbued with their magic. I can just imagine some sort of a humanoid fox character running around with a belt strung from shoulder to hip, with an array of throwing weapons each with its own different magical effect.

Guys, the vulpine race of the Elder Scrolls lore is called Lilmothiit, not Lilmothiith. This is very important, because having the same suffix as the Khajiit could mean that they are related in some way, or at least both speak Ta'agra.

But aside from that, I think vulpine races should be clever, agile, dexterous, persuasive, and as a weapon type, lances.

And, how come no one has said much of anything about the http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Burmecian They're awesome!

Because they're rat people. Not foxes. (Then again, a lot of people brought up non-fox races too). I do like them quite a bit though.
