Okay. I'm creating a fantasy race. Humanoid foxes.
What sort of weaponry or abilities or magic suits a fox?

Aasimar.. most people i play D&D with never use Aasimar's...

A small group called the Xivai, no one has heard of them.
Roleplaying for what? D&D?
Really, you're only limited by your imagination.
You could be a Vermicious Knid if it fits into your roleplaying rules.
I know, but it's still hard to find something really cool. I'd just like some ideas to bounce off of.
I want something really unique and not similar to humans or elves at all, which I've played a lot of.
http://cdn.obsidianportal.com/assets/190737/giant_spider.jpg. They tend to be monsters in many games. Make one the hero.

I have arachnophobia, so I'd hate that idea. I hate spiders. Wouldn't want to be one.
My friend already likes playing as those.
Someone said Dark Souls has some unique fantasy creatures I could steal?
OK, make it a giant worm, or rat, or some other critter no normally seen as a player.
Kothringi and Lilmothiith are races thought to be extinct in TES. Kothringi were naked silver tribesmen and Lilmothiith were a vulpine (fox-like) race.
Both lived in Black Marsh and neither has been seen since the Knahaten Flu of 2E560-2E600.
Don't matter. We play our own role-play. It's similar to D&D, I suppose, but we let in most races and stuff. No need to explain it.
Fantasy role-playing game that I want races for. Keep it as simple as that.
Rather than spending the time reading through the entire list, which I will do if nobody responds, has anyone here played the game and able to tell me if it does indeed have interesting, unique fantasy creatures?
At the moment, I am looking at two races, one suggested from here and one from the internet.
The humanoid fox race and a humanoid praying mantis race. Which do people think is cooler?
Dungeon Crawl has a few obscure races that may inspire you:

Ok, what about http://www.finalfantasyd20.com/ffd20/images/12-bangaa-a.jpg from Final Fantasy XII?
Mantis race would definitely be more cooler and more unique in my opinion, fox race would probably be more viable, all depends on what kind of session your DM has in mind or how much bs does he tolerate.
If you can/wanna look rather monstrous you can use https://www.google.hr/search?q=Final+Fantasy+FFXII+Mantis&rlz=1C1CHMO_hrHR540HR540&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=hr&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=Ev0LUoniJofPtAbtvYHQDQ&biw=1366&bih=643&sei=Ff0LUpKpCs2KswbfyoHwCw, also from FF XII, since when someone mentiones a "mantis" and "fantasy" in the same concept these are what I recall of right away, one of my favorite designs.
okay, here are soem more Obscure ones...
Minotaur..
Troll...
homunculus...
Imp...
pit Fiend...
cyclops....
Golem...
Ogre...
Behemoth..
Gargoyle...
Naga..
Centaur...
troglodyte...
Gnoll....
hmm.... actually, playing as a Naga could be interesting....
want me to go into further description of any just say the word
The Lilmothiith look kind of awesome, but are there any other fox races to base upon? The Lilmothiith don't have much lore to work with is all.
The fox race seems more viable. Like, in most fantasy settings, only the "beautiful" races are welcomed into towns or stuff. Skyrim even does it. People would kind of run away from a giant praying mantis. A fox person, still weird and not done much, but could be unique. Since the Lilmothiith (fox people) from Elder Scrolls don't have much lore, I suppose that I could always just invent a race?
What would a fox race excel at? What would be a cool name?
Yes, there are some really strange creatures that you could use... although many are also the standard fantasy stuff.
Most of the really unique ones are huge beasts, which would be difficult to use for roleplay.
Check out the http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Crow+Demon or the http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Capra+Demon for some possibilities.
The Crows have some neat Lore. They have become deformed from worshiping the goddess of sin, Velka.
