Creating a fantasy fox race.

I was thinking Vulpines. It's Latin for being of fox descent.

Sigh...okay.

A Vulpine Race called the Zenoas/whatever the hell you want to call them.

Traditionally their warriors carry an Urumi as well as a Khopesh or sometimes much more rarely a foreign weapon like an Estoc. The former for group fights and the latter for anything else.

They are a highly agile and athletic society that focuses on feats of physical prowess. Not strength based, but gymnastics and acrobatics. The most successful athletes are treated like the equivalent of Rock Stars. Being a bad athlete or not being able to master the Urumi is something that they would ridicule an individual for. However, deep in their native forests their exists a culture much more in touch with their roots. It focuses on arts and music almost to the exclusion of all else. They are a very focused and communal minded people.

They very rarely have any aptitude for magic. However when it does occur it is unusually strong. Those members are held in low esteem and forced into positions of convenience for the rest of the population. Except in their native forests, where they are held in the highest of esteems and use that magic to produce the highest works of art in that culture.

What else did you want? This is meh, but it is something. I can't think of anything similar. Although it seems kind of troped for some reason.

I think that if you take the characteristics of a RL fox, and the skills and weapon style of the Burmecians, and put them into an anthropomorphic fox, then it'd be an awesome fox.

Though what Ellert said about throwing weapoms sounds interesting. So I've formulated this:

Spoiler
Fox race:
Clever mind, is good at trapping. Uses both magic and a silver tongue to bend others to their will. Strong legs makes them an ideal dragoon. Very sneaky, would make them an ideal assassin. Also make good dancers (Am I thinking too much Final Fantasy?).

Cunning, sly, agile and dexterous, the fox race is also quite intelligent. Though not a physically capable as most humanoid races, the fox race makes up for it by being able to convince any brute to do the hard work for him. Isn't that great at magic, though still able to cast certain incantations, to bewitch their weapons (typically lances, daggers and throwing weapons) and cajole anyone nearby them (though they don't have to rely on that magical ability often). The fox race can run and jump better than most humanoid races.

It's not much, but that's how I would imagine a vulpine race to be like. :)

Derek Three-Tails.

Sorry, had to.

Charles?

No wait, George! That seems to be the hit lately. :D

For an actual serious answer, quick google provided this post where this guy/gal (seeing the user name I honestly hope it is a gal) named a whole bunch of names in old English. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100601084217AA89UWN They all sound fantasy-ish so you should find something fitting quickly.

I went with Damien Three-Tails, a Vulpine who uses a slingshot and a variety of poisons along with his silver tongue to tackle issues. Thanks for the help, everyone!

What does a slingshot kill? Not saying its useless, but I'd recommend getting another weapon on Damien to make him more effective in combat.

Isn't a poisoned slingshot useless unless using sharp projectiles?
