criticism

The Brotherhood was never part of the military (as far as I can recall); though some of the first were in the army. Its long since become a cult (even before Fallout 1). They have used the knights, and scribe titles (as I you know), in every game to date.

I just now read through the BOS WIKI entry and it says, "with roots in the American military and government-sponsored scientific community from before the Great War", but I can't tell its been retconed or just appended... (to incorporate FO3).

I don't know about 'government sponsored scientific community' but if you recall (Since I know you're a Fallout oldie) The BoS was formed by Roger Maxson and the base military personnel at Mariposa as well as the base families. Now, on that my assumption is basically this, it's likely in their own eyes, what with the idea of collecting and restoring technology, they, in their own eyes, saw themselves as 'Knights of Humanity' in the sense of the Brotherhood of Steel being who they are. So they cast off the US Military ranks and adopted more 'knightly' titles.

THAT'S IT! I knew I read it somewhere.

And, in some cases, method of speech as well.

Fair enough. :vaultboy: I often wonder if a conflict between West Coast BoS and East Coast BoS will ever be a theme in a future Fallout game. :disguise:

Should be.
Would be confusing though.
In the midst of battle soldiers go, wait... Are those on our side or their side?
Unless East paints their armor blue and West follow up on Outcasts example and re-invents the design to red.
I foresee lots and lots of Red Vs Blue jokes. :homestar:

Considering the West uses T-51b power armor and the East uses the older T-45d power armor, It wouldnt be THAT hard.

I don't blame you, because it's kinda ugly and clunky-looking when compared to the mighty beauty that is the T-51b :tops:

The BoS were originally deserters from the US Military (they cut ties with the Army just prior to the nukes launching due to the experiments the Army was conducting at Mariposa). I think they likely deliberately chose to base themselves on the Knights Templar to distance themselves from the Army, though that's speculation.

.Nothing. If i sat in my room and thought for about 5 hours i might come up with something I wasnt pleased about. But IMO this is one of the few games that is actually going to be worth the 60$ I put down for it, so I have nothing to complain about.

Sents picking up fallout 3 and coming across the east coast brotherhood, Ive put some thought into it and I think they should just split up into diffirent branches of the brotherhood, one recovering technology (like in the west) and one helping people (as in the east). But I doubt the West Coast has attained contact with the east coast yet.

And I agree that they shouldnt have told us who shot us, 99% of the time a games story is completely ruined for me before It even hits the stores :glare:

Honestly, im quite content. Though, i wish those crappy lockpicking and hacking minigames where gone. They annoy the hell out of me, i wish it was just skill based and there was a skillcheck for it. Much easier.

Lock picking I really didnt have an issue with, but the hacking was total bs. I say instead of wasting about 10 minutes trying to find out a pass word :brokencomputer: you should get a game of Fallout Pacman to hack into computers :nuke: :tops: :nuke:

I know, Im just saying that a good bit of games release the full story before the game is avaidible for purchase. Not NV specificaly, but it would have been nice to not know anything before I start a game. And Im sorry if my triple posting is offensive or inconvenient to anybody.....
Im not an idiot, by the way. I realize that that its not a lot of the story, but I think they went just a little to into detail on the developers diary.

I can respect that. But until NV is released, you'll have to be careful since potentially anything could be a spoiler to someone.

Totally agree with this.

Hacking should be like hacking in Splinter Cell - I dont remember how it worked exactly but it was fast and fit with the game. Kinda like lockpicking - I actually enjoy lockpicking in this game - it's a cute little diversion. And it makes you feel tricksy.
FO3 word game hacking got so annoying. Especially since it was so easy to cheat - just exit out of the terminal on your 3rd attempt and it resets.

My ONLY criticism, this will probably be my favorite game of all time,
is that you cannot become a ghoul.
As far as we know...
I hope there are a number of quests that end with ghoulification, this wouldn't change most of the dialog in the game, but it would be like a 4TH karma branch in F3. You had good, bad, and neutral, why not just add a ghoul addition, I know NV has the rep system, but it will just be a more divided version of the previous system.
Please add ghoulification if F4, or just make the protagonist a ghoul in NYC....

Before Fallout 3 lunched there were lots of little tidbits to whet the ol' appetite, The virtual tour of DC, The Rad King TV, the little kids style book with all the beasties---and they still turned out a damn great game. This time around we have gotten none of that. While I still eagerly await the game it does not feel at the same level as with Fallout 3. But alas so long as the game is as much fun I'll live.
