Crysis 2 being re-designed for GTX580?

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 10:11 pm

Still, they will not redo Crysis 2 just for another fail card from Nvidia.... Crysis 2 Releases March 2011 and nothings changing that. its just Ads for getting you to buy over priced Nvidia Cards. trust me. ATI has more Power in there Cards.

also the Graphics that Crytek have already set for Crysis 2 Look Amazing, there happy with them and so is everyone else.

You don't get it.

They don't have to re-do anything to obtain such functionality.

The GTX 580 is considerably more powerful in benchmarks, showing 35% more performance... that's admirable considering the card uses less power, produces less heat, but still performs better.

Additionally, Nvidia hasn't had a performance advantage since the 4000 series came out from ATI.

I don't know benchmarks your looking at but overall the performance increase is around 12% across all games and resolutions. Not 35%. Not to say there isn't one solitary game which has such a performance boost, but overall it's a mediocre improvement.

Also, Nvidia has of course had the single gpu performance advantage since 2005! AMD have once 'beat' them with a dual card, but nvidia have always traditionally had a faster single gpu.

Also, one reason to look forward to the keplar architecture is that it's not fermi :P

LOL, you hate nVidia but your name is SLIpro :D

Admittedly nvidia fans have even more to be angry about. The gtx580 isn't really a generation worthy improvement on the gtx480. It's just got the Shaders enabled a slight clock boost and they whacked on a big cooler. It's a gtx485.

Also, even if the hd6970 only turns out to be just as fast, that means nvidia have lost their performance advantage, one that they've had for about 5 years. Without that, they have nothing, their cards are hotter, hungrier and more expensive, but that was offset by 10% more performance. Without that, they're just garbage.

Roll on the gtx7 series and keplar.

It's basically just the new nvidia architecture after fermi, there's a guy i know with far more interest in the thing (he worked at nvidia), and he seems very much excited about it, while he thought that the gtx580 was a complete waste of time :) I'll scrounge some more info of him when i see him so i can explain a bit more.

But i'd assume it'll be much faster for a start :)

Hi, sry i not read all.

Just wanna say i GOT an 580 GTX and this piece of Hardware is very impressive at all.

Same for the amount of money.....

So Crytek would u please think about a Patch to implement DX 11 in Crysis 2 ! ???

Or use it from beginning.....!

I test Unigine Heaven with Extreme Tesselation (1680x1050 full AA, Anysotropic) and it looks awesome and run fast and smooth.

I think Tesselation is best Feature for any future Game..........

The GTX 580 is out, already bought one yesterday. Fifth build in a lifetime!!
Worth every cent.

So you didn't wait for the hd6970 release for a price drop i take it? :D

Just seems silly since no game is coming out that will push even a hd6850 until crysis 2 so patience is definitely a virtue :)

Still, don't worry, i'm sure it's awesome ^^ If i could have one right now for £100+my card i'd snap it up :D

I just hope it will hold up the same way it holds for crysis 1 (Fingers crossed) :)

"For Crysis 2, we'll take advantage of what NVIDIA's new GeForce GTX 580 GPUs bring," said Cevat Yerli, president and CEO of Crytek. "A supersoldier that needs to save NYC from an alien invasion needs the best tech possible. That's not only his Nanosuit, but also stunning DX11 geometric realism that a GPU like the GeForce GTX 580 can offer for our PC gamers."

is this a legit statement?? did Cevat Yerli really say this in interview??

Can anyone from Crytek confirm??

It sounds like he's got something on his nose. Presumably he just means they'll add options like 32x AA.

nvidia paid a fair whack of money, cevat will whistle to whatever tune they play. However, no they won't 'push' a gtx580 at all (in the sense of making it come to it's knees but just push 30fps at 1920x1200 no AA), any dx11 card about a gtx460 and you should be maxing crysis 2 nicely by the looks of it. But crysis 2 will look good and will be the prettiest PC game ever. if it isn't, well that only means one thing: crysis 1 looks better :/

However, if they do, it will be awesome to see, especially since my hd5870 runs with 5-10% performance! (yay for epic overclocks)

This was a "supposedly" official statement made a long time ago.
It was on the otaku site, some time ago. In a thread, which was named "Another delay for Crysis 2" I copied the link.

Better late than never I suppose :P

At least, it puts the mind at ease, relating to Sp content to Crysis 2.
(For the most, is pleasing to the Pc crowd)

Eh, I have a 5970 so will this game be unoptimized for AMD cards or should I not worry?
