Cumulative Speculation related to TES V #15

TESV will be Gamebryo, without a doubt, but TESVI however....could very likely still be Gamebryo.

Have people given much thought to what the soundtrack of TES V will be like? I think this is one of the few things we haven't speculated about yet. I want http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPEEp5R_pOo&feature=related to be the theme song of TES V.

I don't think it would be too strange to think that Jeremy Soule will return for TESV. I'd personally love another variation of his Elder Scrolls theme.

Why do so many people hate Gamebryo?

Id Tech 5 (and Bethesda now publishes/owns Id). 60 fps for a huge open world, no loading times, and damn it that doesn't look better than any game out or coming out.

Now that i think of it, RAGE looks pretty awseme. I still dont wanna see Beth stry from Gamebyro. It would drasticially change the way their games are.

Not to nitpick, but Zenimax owns Id. Bethesda and Id are now companies owned by the same corporation.

Ok, I don't think we'll be getting an announcement around the E3 time now, but it's good that they're finally starting to remove the wall of silence.
Nah, that'll be the Wii title they've been working on for a while now. If you've got motion controls on one platform why not do it on multiple?

Todd Howard doesn't even know what the Wii title is. He said that it's their European branch working on it.

I wonder how much Beth has updated Gamebryo by now... they may have to switch to a new engine at some point, unless they plan to just build on gamebryo forever, which isnt unlikely.

I'd love it, was never totally impressed with Beth's art direction in any case. Games like Fable 2 and Crysis beat the heck out of it, the only two games I've ever stopped and stared in awe at what the artists had managed. A better engine can help with that, so I'd say go for it.

While interesting by itself, that line means nothing when it's put in the original context. What was that post about? Bethesda related happenings. What will he look out for? More Bethesda related happenings.

Great! That means we should all be on the lookout for bethesda-related happenings as opposed to what we have been doing until now!

TESV is a Bethesda-related happening, and that means it could be happening in the next few weeks. So nya! :P

The new Id Tech engine does look good, but in my opinion I still think the new Cry Engine looks better. But to be honest if they went with either of those engines for The Elder Scrolls it would be better. While, as pointed out already, they wont be changing engines for TESV, its something to think about for the next game. And by the time thats in development there will most likely be new iterations of both the Cry Engine and Id Tech engine. At the same time the devs seem to be perfectly happy with Gamebryo, even though it is buggy as hell and cant keep up with the majority of the big name graphics engines out right now.

Also, TESV http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/01/11/news-No-New-Xbox-Console-Or-360-Pricing.aspx because the xbox 720 (or whatever) won't be coming out forever.

Well that's good to know. So all of the people fretting over whether or not Bethesda will delay TESV until the new consoles come out can rest easy now.

Thats a real shame, Developers are getting bottle necked by the 360s hardware now. Its just not good enough any more. 4 years is an age in computer terms. if Micro[censored] doesnt brign out a new Xboxin teh next year, I can see alot more developers developing for playstation as it has better hardware.

Good!

To me that just means that developers can't rely on solely on shiny new graphics to impress gamers. They'll have to focus on *gasp* gameplay.

Highly unlikely.

The graphics is want makes people pay; the gameplay is what makes people play.

Pay > play unfortunately.

If you call better much more difficult to develop games for, then yes.

Recent IGN articles on the matter claim that software updates in both games and on the console will extend the 360s shelf life for quite some time. Add to that that there are few people I know who would like to have to buy a new, $400 plus machine no matter how hardcoe a gamer they are.

And I bought the 360 specifically because Oblivion was a release title for it. I will not do the same for TESV, because now I have responsibilities like college tuition and the like to worry about.

@ Lycanthropic

I seriously recommend you get a good PC, it doesn't even have to be a high-end PC, an average one will do just fine, but you should really get the next TES game for the PC, the capabilities of mods are limitless, this goes for everyone else too, if it does turn out to be for the Xbox 720 or Natal or whatever, then dont buy a new console, buy a good PC. At least tats what i think would be better.

(Damn it! i can't stay away from this thread for a week, let alone a month!)
