Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #23

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 10:50 pm

who said it would be about dragons?

I want to see me some snow elves.

and I think all three of those ideas are terrible for the focus point of a DLC. the main story of a DLC should be something new and exciting, not an expansion of something that dark as vampires and werewolves. don't get me wrong they add atmosphere, but just make side quests out of them and leave the main quest for the good stuff.

they're just not enough for a good MQ, more of a faction.
No, dragons weren't good of a MQ. We need something darker, something grittier..something violent. And vampires fit the bill. This is Skyrim, not kiddie wonderland where little elves play. Sure, Snow Elves can be added, but it's not enough to be an important story. Bloodmoon did great and the main focus of that was werewolves. Vampires in the Elder Scrolls have never been a main focus, this is the chance for them to be.

Will you continue playing your character in the next DLC or start a fresh one?

The expansion will be about Mythic Dawn, the demons, come on! It's all there on wiki!
I will continue playing with my old character 250 hours played :) his adventures hasnt ended yet

There have been several people that think the DLC is about dragons and are happy about that, which is ridiculous because we do not need anymore dragon related content. If the DLC involves snow elves that could mean we go back to Solstheim which means there could be something that involves werewolves which would be cool for a side quest.

but the DLC needs to have a new landmass, hell it would be an absolute joke if they just added a quest line for vampires.

and snow elves aren't enough to be an important story? Its a long lost race coming back for the first time in the games, hell they could even make another playable race for future games. they have so much more potential than vampires, which have been in all recent ES games and even then have not been that interesting of an aspect. sure its nice to have the option. but vampires are overdone and boring.

Maybe you could also waste being immortal by going to High School over and over and over...

That'd be sweet!

Same here.
And I'm banking on Solstheim, so I'm guessing there will be some wonderful locations to explore, fulfilling your other wish!

I thought they said they were not going to add new landmasses, but I am not positive on that. If we go to a landmass most likely it would be Solstheim which could have a questline where the Snow Prince is a Volkihar vampire, since some people think the Falmer are the Volkihar vampires from the book Immortal Blood.

I forgot, even though dragons are original in TES they are still boring, weak, and generic, and after I killed two dragons they were boring and useless. I think a DLC for them would be overdoing them and extremely boring, and that would be a waste of a DLC.

To build on this;

If the Snow Prince comes back, what if the magic that revives him also reverts the Falmer to their pre-forced-mushroom consumption days? Now they're back to their old form (looking like they did when they warred with the Nords), and they come streaming from out of Blackreach to drive the Nords from their lands once and for all. And since the Snow Prince is buried on Solstheim, there's your new landmass and tie-in to Skyrim.

How would that sound?

that would be awesome, though I can imagine the snow prince being brought back and most of the DLC is you having to help him restore his people by going to various locations and gathering artefacts and such, and in return he promises that they won't beat up the nords again. :P

Unless it comes from Bethesda's mouth or UESP. then it's wrong.

Dragons are overdone and boring. Returning races are overdone and boring. We've seen Dwemer, Falmer and dragons, now Snow Elves? Can we join the Prince and kill people? Probably not. Can we play as a Snow Elf? No. We can play as vampires. Predatory creatures who aren't the generic and pathetic benevolent stuff we always see. I don't mind seeing the Snow Prince, but as long as there is a dark plot, with dark characters and vampires. Then I'm good. No more heroic stuff. There are more things that has potential than a few white elves.

they said that the DLC's will be comparable to the shivering isles. which will be pretty damn hard to do if they don't add new landmasses. and that would make sense as to why he is alive.

That would be a very workable idea as well. To bring back an old topic from earlier games, maybe one of the required items is a piece of the Numidium (sp?). Just the hunt for that could involve over four hours worth of material, maybe even more.

One of the new Allies Ulfric talks about making against the Thamor?

@ post above maybe the Numidium piece+ Snow Elves= more understanding of the Dwemer.

I agree with this, plus with Solstheim in the picture Bethesda could rectify the current werewolves. And that is racist why do the elves have to be white? Haha.

Eh. I would rather turn into a dragon and eat people. But shapeshifting into a dragon would be ridiculous. Sure, dragon mounts are cool for those who like that kind of stuff.
