Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #23

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 5:26 am

We can't play as a Snow Prince.
Dragons are overdone and boring. Returning races are overdone and boring. We've seen Dwemer, Falmer and dragons, now Snow Elves? Can we join the Prince and kill people? Probably not. Can we play as a Snow Elf? No. We can play as vampires. Predatory creatures who aren't the generic and pathetic benevolent stuff we always see. I don't mind seeing the Snow Prince, but as long as there is a dark plot, with dark characters and vampires. Then I'm good. No more heroic stuff. There are more things that has potential than a few white elves.

And for those of us who have no desire to play as a vampire? Any such DLC that has a vampire specific main quest would be useless.

I understand there is speculation about certain files suggesting the possibility of new vampire animations, crossbows and the Snow Prince; however, perhaps these are not all related to the Dawnguard DLC.

that is true, but Im speaking generally, I understand that theres no confirmation of relation. though we do need a new landmass.. :P

I ask again WTF is the deal with dovakhins eyes?!?!?!?!?!

He's obviously PO'd that Bethesda promised him a "tidbit" of info, but only provided a photoshopped pic and a title that he'd already known about.

I'm not expecting it for this Dawnguard DLC but I think that one of the DLC's will be about Clavicus Vile and Umbra. Umbra wasn't in the main game and Clavicus Vile is a big part of the 2 Elder Scrolls books.
As for Dawnguard obviously the glowing red eyes is significant, I personally think the rough look and arrows is probably a clue of some sort. I wonder if the eyes are part of some new inner power Dragonborn discovers or some sort of possesion? Dwemer ghosts posses him perhaps?

Will you continue playing your character in the next DLC or start a fresh one?

The expansion will be about Mythic Dawn, the demons, come on! It's all there on wiki!
you serious?

i doubt beth would revisit the OB bad guys, people wouldnt want to pay to fight the mythic dawn again...at least i wouldnt

Just like in the main quest of Bloodmoon we had the choice to join either the Skaal or the werewolves. Or in Skyrim we could either join the Stormcloaks or the Imperials. Even in the Shivering Isles we had choices between Mazken and Aureals. Choices to either spare or kill people(Pathurnaax and Delphine or Duke and Duchess of Dimentia). Bethesda can easily add two branching quests in a single storyline that could appease either groups.

Skyrim itself wasn't just about dragons, many people chose to play as something completely different and not even touch the main quest.

Oh.

Huh, I'm gonna have to re-read that last book of the duology because somehow I missed that, I thought Clavicus Vile just claimed it. Well that's my theory then...

That is just it though if you didn't want to start the main quest, but you wanted to do the Civil War you were screwed because you were forced to start the main quest, and now I have to deal with stupid dragons...
I agree with a questline that has two branches like in Bloodmoon. That is why a vampire DLC with a fight between the Volkihar and the Order would be cool because you could pick a side.

I think this should be added to the OP as people still don't understand the 30 exclusivity http://www.gamezone.com/products/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/news/don-t-worry-skyrim-dawnguard-dlc-is-still-coming-to-ps3-and-pc

to be honest, if the dwemer return I hope they either completely isolate themselves or become the antagonists. because otherwise the series would be in serious risk of going steam punky.

Could be cool if they return.

Yes, but Skyrim is a much bigger world with several quest lines, so making a choice not to choose a side between two factions is feasable. A DLC where the only choice is Join the Vampires or Destroy the Vampires, is not going to sell that many copies, without a new landmass to sweeten the deal, or perhaps add several other new quest lines.

I understand that an aweful lot of fans love the dragons but the whole main quest is about dragons, the inhabitants of Skyrim are talking about dragons, personally I'd prefer something totally new. Also, in previous TES games, the DLC's/expansions have not been related to the main quest so I find it unlikely that this DLC is going to be more dragons.

i would like to see some updates to the 'talents'

as of now, the destruction talent for duel casting stunning the target is a bit OP as you can spam weak fireballs/frostbolts/exc. to infa stun a target, i would suggest making it so more powerful spells stagger more powerful opponents, so you cant spam a fireball all day long to keep a dragon infa stunned all day

i would also like to see more options available for gear/enchants

i would also like to see more relationship quests after you are married and a devorce option, for example, your wife/husband could ask you to go out into the world to fin X item in Y quantity to sell at her/his store, and doing so will give you a bonus on speachcraft for betetr prices, or even make epic quests that offer extra perk points for gettign perks beyond level 100 limit, but make sure they are EXTREAMLY difficult :D
