DLC Problems in Poland

Post » Wed Dec 08, 2010 9:43 pm

Funny thing is I have the latest Steam update (1.2.0.352) that is needed to play Dead Money, but no option to buy Dead Money itself.

Of course I have a very same problem and I'm pretty pissed off because of it.

But i was wondering - would DLC work for me (Poland, enplczru version of game) if someone from western Europe, where it's available, would purchase it for me as a steam gift?

I can't say for sure, but my experience with Mass Effect 2 (Shadow Broker DLC) tell me it will be fine.
When you receive the gift, gifted content placed into your game list directly. And you will be able to download it together with appropriate patch.
New patch itself (as I know) have the same FalloutNV.esm, difference mainly in the exe files- they include support for new achievements. If you will store your language.esp in the safe place and then will restore it- you will be able to run vanilla game without issues.
But if you will use English DLC with Poland vanilla game, you will have some conflicts, so you will need to:
1. Use this DLC with English version of the game
2. Or make compatibility patch for new DLC.
I hope someone will confirm my insinuations... or not :)

Romania user here.
Same problem with the rest of second class E(astern Europe)U . Bought game through normal Steam, without any kind of notification about regional limitations (and i never ever heard about Cenega) . Now i'm unable to acquire the DLC though Steam.

When i get home from work, I plan to use Direct2Drive (EU) version, as it mentions that it is compatible with my country.

Ohh nice find :) Here is a link to D2D: http://www.direct2drive.co.uk/2/10395/product/Buy-Fallout-New-Vegas-%E2%80%93-Dead-Money-DLC-Download?hph

It says "This product is only available for purchase in Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holy See, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Malta, Republic of Moldova, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, San Marino, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. This product requires the Fallout New Vegas base product installed to play. This product is not eligible for refunds."

So after all this means we can get that DLC? Any confirmations from users in Eastern Europe ? I don't want to spend money on it and then it won't work becouse its not refundable.

Thing is, the 1C/Cenega edition was not patched for DLC compatibility yet. So people with that edition can't play it even if they buy it from D2D.

I've checked with folks and as you guys already know, the content is not available on Steam in the territories mentioned (Hungary, Poland, Russia, Estonia). It's also not available in India.

If/when that ever changes, I'll provide more information.

What about people, myself included, who anticipating problems with Cenega/1C version of the Fallout: New Vegas, bought their copies in UK? These are the same Bethesda versions but we still cannot download, and better yet, even buy, the new DLC.
How is that possible? We are in European Union and we can freely buy the products in any EU country we wish, so why you are putting up some regional lock that influence even your own Beth versions?
This is unbelievable! Now I should just go and demand my money back!
What about TES V and Rage? There's gonna be the same farce as with F:NV?

I've bought and tested Dead Money from Direct2Drive UK, it contains normal steam installer, all I have to do after installation, was register new key and enable .esm in data files. It activated successfully and added Sierra Madre and raised level cap. Still, shame one have to work around to play a game. It looks more like Valve caused problems not Bethesda

I just checked out and installed Dead Money from Direct2Drive EU and is compatible and works with my Steam version of Fallout: New Vegas (regular EU version, not Cenega stuff from what I can tell). Steam already updated to latest patch, but they refuse to show the DLC in the buy list.

That only happened to me because the Direct2Drive site was for US(by default). Once I selected EU (small flag on upper right), prices become in Euro, and all went OK.

Well- I was able to buy this DLC on Direct2drive. Now I have installation issues.

"Please first activate your original game. The product code you've entered requires ownership of another product before activation. If you try to activate an expansion pack or downloadable content, please first activate original game, then activate this additional content."

How I can activate already activated game? :whistling:

If I get any information to share, we'll let you know. As many of you already know, we're not the publisher of the game in Poland and Russia.

If I'm not mistaken though, you can purchase the game (in English) via Steam in these countries.

I live in Russia and I couldnt purchase game via Steam. And I WILL NOT purschase it via 1C - no way. And I will play it - and purchase future GoTY Edition with all DLC - but it will be on discounted price and Year or more later. And I didnt understand - Why I must search pirated version of DLC just because 1C couldnt work good? They even couldnt make correct translation on Russian - so I will play in English version. And Im sure that Valve must stopped make regional changes - there must be normal competition between eshop selling English version and localizator - without it local monopolies didnt make games - they made profits - Russian version F3GoTY was released with 1YEAR delay!!! How much we will wait for DLC? Nobody knows. Patches for released games - what for??? - 1Year delay for localised version patches of F3 - 1YEAR FOR PATCHES.
Bethesda please make Valve world united distribution - with single release dates for all world - may be after that here in Russia 1C (Yes we didnt have another game distributors companies- 1C purchased all of them) will made good localizations and begin supporting released products.

I did the same thing and I'm getting exactly same message. I've already written to D2D and Steam customer supports - no repplies yet. I will write here if something happens.
Delamer I understand you have 1C/Cenega edition of the game (same as me), becouse posters above reported that Dead Money works for them for copies purchased outside of our great distributors region.
Oh the joy... that's like having demo version.
I don't have any idea why gamesas co-operates with such companies.

Alexey Ozerov -> I don't know if you read all posts but I'm quite sure you can buy full version of New Vegas + DLC both from (for example) D2D UK and that will work for you.

No matter- even box versions must be activated through the Steam, so it is Steam version afterall.
I have info from my friend- he was able to install d2d DLC to Steam Russian game. Seems to me, problems can be resolved if someone will take a look at it.

Well, I'm not sure what I can do now. Maybe I should buy New Vegas from D2D UK and get rid of current one (?). I don't want so many problems with future DLCs and I want them on time! But first I'm going to wait for any customer support to repply.

How about a petition to Cenega not to use 1C/Cenega as their publisher in our region for future games?

Good question but I have a bad feelings about activating a copy of Dead Money from D2D on 1C version of the game even after 29th March. But that's just my prediction.
