does anyone actually like the hide, studded or scaled armors

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 10:45 am

I used fur armor (body that is shirt-less) for my awesome barbarian even at high levels, and the Fur body armor with the fur cloak thing when i was in snowy cold regions, used an inv. helm mod and I used any gauntlets/boots I saw fit.

but no i never used those armors u mentioned they just look way too bandit-ty to me :P

i liek scaled and studded but i prefer fur to hide it looks dope

but they always add armor in expansions and dlc and whatnot so they probably will end up including at least trollbone and ice armor

Light armor helmets - at least the lower level ones - look silly to me.

The hide armor doesn't make a lot of practical sense... it's a couple straps and a metal disc covering... what, exactly? Your solar plexus? Meanwhile your, you know, organs are just asking to be stabbed.

The studded armor looks decent, though. That's my go-to armor for a Nord barbarian.

And fur looks great too.

I like the almost all the armours in the game, but maybe I'm just easy to please. Everyone has their own tastes, I don't think it would be possible for anyone to make all the armours look good to everyone.

I actually love the weaker armour sets the most, they look rough but practical and fits the province perfectly.
All the leather armour you can make are really nice, studded is a favourite of mine.
This game also has the best iron armour, it looks really rugged and hey, the helmet is a real classic.

I like them but most of the helmets svck. End up just wearing the black shrouded hood with most of them.

Glass armor looks like something Aquaman's imperial guard would wear.

One of my favorite armors is the Ancient Nord Armor on females, but its a pain to upgrade. The forsworn armor on both genders looks cool too.

Skyrim needs more/better robes/cloths so I can make a cool looking wizard. That triangle that hangs down in fornt of the Arch-mage robe makes me feel like a court jester.

The lowest tier armors all look good but glass, dwarven and dragonbone look awful to me and I never wear any helmet as I like to see my head ... circlets all the way this helps too with not getting easy mode perks like matching set. Mage robes and eventually enchanted chef's tunic is the way to go for me.

Love scaled armour boots and gloves, use them on alot of characters. I also have no problem with fur armour I rolled with that on my first nord for ages. I would have liked a few higher level fur/leather options tho. IMO a hide and troll done armour would have made a good medium strength armour so you could keep the cool fur vibe up.

Any type of Bone Armor would be great and would be great for any necromancer or tribal type character.

I can't remember which one of these 3 it was but one of them actually looks sixy on Male Characters, if you ask me.

So yes, I do like them though I don't wear them.

I hate any armor that doesn't include pants or greaves in it's design. Fortunately I play on the PC so replacers are available for some of them.

I'm trying to be a big bad image and I try to stay in robes. Except when I'm in a bind. Then I throw on my superior Eleven armor. It has the highest armot rating in my inventory. Except for heavy armor, which I really don't want anything to do with. Anyway, after reading all these comments I think I'll try a little more experimenting with the others.

I like the armors to an extent. I feel like some armors don't have enough varients to them to meet the needs of skyrim. I don't get how someone living in a fozen tundra is wearing armor with hardly any protection for something worse than a sword; the enviroment. I find it a little silly I can wear steel armor, which leaves the arms exposed, and go to the highest mount in the game and not have any frostbite.

of course that is something I wish that was in the game; a hardcoe mode that factors in the enviroment.

I think some of the daedric armor looks more like dragon armor. I also have a problem with the colors... a lot of the light armors are the same color...

I know leather is brown and all, but if I'm using the fur from a snow sabre cat shouldn't the fur part be white?

I like hide and studded, but I'd love to see chainmail and ringmail. I can't imagine why they dropped chainmail.

mithril would have been cool tool.

I personally would love to see dlc that was mainly just adding tons of new weapons/armors. There is so much that was left undone

I've always liked the barbarian look. Its fitting for a Nord in his/her homeland of Skyrim. I kinda like looking like Conan. If its the Conan from the novels, graphic novels or those movies with Arnold... I'll let you decide.

Not really. They look really, really bad and impractical on top of that. Not sure something qualifies as armor if huge portions of your arms are exposed... Anyway, I found retextures that make them more bearable, but still never use them.

Hide - No, absolutely hideous. Provides absolutely no believable armor value, just like all the redundant "half-naked woman" armors all the modders seem to be so fond of.

Studded - Barely makes it. It looks decent at best. Works great in conjunction with iron gauntlets/boots, but then they provide no "perked set" values.

Scaled - Who in the world got away with allowing this hideous armor in the game? I refuse to touch the stuff because of its absolute hideousness.

If you want to see something that matches, use hide chest peice with a novice hood. Looks like some sort of hunter. It's cool.

I like these light armors the most, in addition to fur. They look practical, form fitting, and realistic. I hate that most light armors don't follow that theme.

edit: Actually, the same is true of TG and DB armor. They just look more rogue-ish. I want more light armors that a warrior would wear.

Agreed, I much prefer to wear light armor, but everything looks so bad. Leather looks awful, mainly because of the helmet. Same thing with scale armor, the helmet is just butt ugly, not to mention the much nicer version, the scale horn armor I am not allowed to smith nor make it better....

Everything else looks too fantastic for me, I like my warrior to look a bit realist.

I like the guards armor. If only I didn't have to wear fur boot and gloves...... :sigh:

This^,

IMO the heavy armors look great, with the exception of Dragonbone. That makes a character look like an disgruntled spiky-lizard. OTOH, only the TG/TG Master armor looks really cool (regarding light armor). A lot of people like the DB armor but to me it looks like a wetsuit. Light armor really got short shrift in this game. Oh, and dragonscale armor is lame as well.

P.S. The Nightengale armor is cool looking too. They got that one right, except for maybe the cape.

I love scaled armor. In fact, most of the time I use scale, fur or the Savior's hide. I don't care about armor ratings.
