As a pure destruction mage on expert I seriously can't survive a dungeon without her so yea I'm guilty of the reload.

If you're on PC and feel the need to reload when whichever Companion dies, thought about using the Console command "setessential BASEID 1"? (For Base ID insert the NPC's Base ID)

I mean if you're going to go trough the hassle of reloading every time it happens I'd just do this.

Only once because I was so pissed off that she got killed by a puny wolf, of all things. I've seen her take on a giant, talking smack all the way. Tbh I thought she was immortal after that, as I stayed well away from the giant camp and thought "well, if you're dumb enough to charge on in, be my guest." She took some hits but got right back up again.

If she dies again I'll just let her go though. Let's just hope she meets a more fitting end next time.

No I didn't. She died and it also cuased me to nearly die. I let the past be the past and didn't time-travel like a member of the Psiijc order to correct the events of the past. :D

Current companion, Mjoll the lioness with 100% frost resistance, 80% shock resistance and 30% fire resistance. An ebony greatsword with 20 absorb HP makes her unbeatable as long as she swings the sword.

"cough.. cough.."

"Look a cave! I wonder what's inside."

(pushing Lydia closer to the edge) .. FUS RO DAH !!

Peace and quiet finally!

.. but in all seriousness I always reload. Shes a handy distraction when fights gets hairy.

I gave her a reprieve the first time because I slashed her when she got in front of me, even though it was her fault. Right after the reload, she ran solely into a fort of bandits and got killed on the spot. And that was the last of Lydia....

I usually leave my companions dead. But I give them little ceremonies and such. For example, the Uthgert from The Bannered Mare fought in the rebellion with me. She survived the war, three dragon fights and a few dozen bandit hunting raids. She died during a quest to heal the Eldergreen in Whiterun. As it turned out, the quest culminated in a very nice area with water and plants and trees. I dragged her body to a rock overlooking the water and posed her. I left her weapons and armor with her.

I think leaving them dead adds to the rp aspect of the game. But I can see why people get attached. I miss that butch badass.

she is yet to die on me tho she forever falls behind and I'm forever yelling at her to keep up . and she never seems all to pleased at carrying my gear . bit of a smart mouth if u ask me so I don't no if I'd reload.

I had one die to a dragon priest , another I let go and Sven who is currently stuck in the labyrinth because he can't make it to the door ???? I left him some rations and a weapon until he smartens up

Haha, I have Sven in tow with me now too, beefed up and ready to rock.

Lydia died on my visit to the Hagraven for the Eldergereen Quest, I stripped her bare and left her corpse 2 feet from the Hagravens camp.

I'm so compasionate.

Never, I just started to grow attached to her, but I was struggling in a dragonfight on a mountain, I was running out of health potions, I was desperate.. but I did notice I picked up a powerful scroll of fire magic.. I just needed one last desperate charge.

I started casting, threw myself at the dragon with flames bursting from all around me, the dragon crippled, succumbed to my sword in its eye.

But where was Lydia... surely she didn't run straight after me....

I never found the body. I don't have followers anymore. I may have a deathwish, but I don't know if anyone can do what I can.. I must..continue.

By the nine divines, I cannot allow anyone else to suffer in my cause.

I play a Dark Elf - so she can die for all I care.

I'm falling in love with the Dark Elf Companion from Windhelm. I just wish she wouldn't charge me all the time to help me on these quests!

She's playing hard to get I guess.

My Lydia died to a Falmer wizard/chief (was so busy surviving i didnt check what he was called) backep up by two falmer archers. I was hit simultaneously by the archers and the wizard and nearly died, so i retreated and when i eventually prevailed in the battle i found Lydia dead among some chaurus eggs.

Golldir in a mixed set of enchanted Orcish and Ebony > Lydia as a companion. Big dumb meatwall.

And when I say dumb. I mean it. Dude path's for crap, and is more prone to use a damn bow than the mace of Molag Bal and ebony shield I gave him.

Other than that, he can pretty much toe to toe tank almost anything in game solo. I stood and watching him go melee crazy once on 2 spider guardians and 2 dwarf sphere centurions just to see how much damage he took versus gave. He's a damage mitigating fool, that boy is.

I absolutely reload if Lydia dies. A companion or Housecarl isn't going to die on my watch. I know she's there to protect me but it goes both ways, just like me and my sniper buddy in FNV. If I'm going to roleplay as a person then she's a person too. I've gotten better about not hitting her with friendly fire and instead I'll just back her up with Healing Hands when I can. She's great with staves so I keep them charged for her. I'll reload after a dragon fight if named NPCs die too and I'll play it over again until they live. It really has given me a chance to improve my fighting skills, learn about my weapons and spells and learn about the dragons. It's always different after a reload and that shows off how deep the game is. Having an awesome time...keep your eye on the skies. :)

I don't use her because she sounds so depressed when I talk to her. I wish they made her more eager about serving me :). Plus she can die which is no good since she's carrying some dragonbones for me.

I've decided that I will bring her only when I do the Main Quest. If she dies, then that's that.

I'm going to role play this as: "Thanks for helping me so far Lydia, you deserve a rest." "Stay home and I will let you know when I need you again." "I'm going to head out on my own for a little bit."

Yes, I reload if she dies. She dies quite a bit too, and it's always my fault somehow. She simply insists on running ahead when i am casting a fireball.

I've never had a companion die on me, usually they just take a knee and then get back up in a minute, although I have never brought Lydia out of the house. [censored], make me a sandwich!

Didn't reload though, for immersion sake. Plus it was a damn epic battle

Faendal just passed... We were on our way to retrieve a certain sword belonging to a certain Redguard. He had only been with me a few hours, but being a fellow Wood Elf i was drawn to him. We were climbing the snowy mountains in order to get a vantage point over the camp of bandits and i heard a growl, turning around i saw a beautiful creature on top of a large stone like a proud lion. But then it leaped and struck down Faendal tearing at his face with such anger, he died just as my arrow flew into the beasts eye and killed it. I shredded the Sabre Cat and laid the the pelt and eye next to Faendals body, i had a moments silence and went back to Riverwood where i had the Bard play a song as a sat down to think about past events, before leaving i starred into the fire, giving final respects to a burning heart of an elf.

...Seems over the top, but its moments like this that make the game better, not the scripted events, but the events you create and are held account for. :tes:
