Does anyone not like the Blades besides me?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 2:09 am

Odavin is not a "peaceful" dragon, but he swears to serve you because he has respect for your thum and thinks Alduin is a tyrant. Something the blades are too ignorant to understand.

Yup I was talking about Paarthurnax not Odavin.

Paarthurnax is my friend and mentor, if they fear the dragons so much they should fear me. For their blood runs deep in me.

Their time in serving the empire is over. Also considering the fact that they're knights and this isn't a "modern time period" their oath is more important to them than morals.

I don't consider some senile old man and a Tavern Wench Blades. the last blade from Cloud ruler Temple died a Hero's death as he fought his Thalmor Pursuers.

the band of people I insereted into Sky haven are Blades, not these washed up short sighted Dips. and this Time the Blades will consist of people from Every race, not just Man.

I made use of the setessential console command as well as stealth kill for them both. Paarthurnax will live another 1000 or more years and I will defend him. No more Blades.. Oblivion and Morrowind were the best versions of the Blades in my opinion. And those Blades are long gone.

The blades in Skyrim are complete ass holes. They wouldnt talk to me unless I killed *spoiler* and then when the game was over and I chose not to kill *spoiler* they kicked me out of the blades. :(

Delphine: Go kill Parthurnax!
Me: Why?
Delphine: Because he was bad a long time ago but then tried to stop someone bad by betraying him and that makes him bad!!!!
Me: How so? He's helped me to find this Elder Scroll and learn Dragonrend, we wouldn't have it without him.
Delphine: Me and Esbern won't help you until you kill him
Me: Ohhh a crazy old innkeeper and a dude who clearly belongs in a home aren't going to help me save the world and aren't you supposed to serve the Dragonborn and do what he deems is necessary? I mean you served the descendants of Talos for hundreds of years and never killed a dragon, mostly just helped escaped prisoners become gods
Delphine: ........

I liked them till they made the ultimatum concerning Paarthurnax to me after that I cut my ties with them.

The seem to serve their own interests and have no respect for the power of the Dovah. I will slay dragons but I still respect them as creatures. Akatosh created them for a purpose.

Paarthunaax is such a deep character and a noble one, I felt insulted that they refuse to even talk to me because I won't kill him, basically circumventing my dragonborn gift as a tool only for their agenda. My say has no weight, they just want to use my power to slay dragons and nothing more.

The Gray Beards are right. They don't serve the dragonborn as they claim. Their ties to the empire is not a plus for me either.

I agree. The dragon is noble and proud. The blades svck!

I dislike the blades in this game also, but I think a lot of the reasons for this, is because of the some what shallow writing. There are some sides of the stories/quests in this game which are fairly glossed over.

Agreed, pretty much once they gave me an ultimatum just left and never came back. If blades are meant to follow the Dovahkin why are they ordering me around? seriously...

its kind of a bummer. i thought the blades were a cool faction in oblivion. would have been cool if we were able to rebuild the blades organization how we saw fit.

I loved The Blades in Oblivion. I thought they had a really great storyline, and worked for the greater good. In Skyrim however, I feel the faction has been ruined. They are represented as selfish, and I can help feel a bit disappointed by this.

Our business relationship was terminated when they started believing they got to order me around. They being two paranoid, bitter old fugitives in a cave and me being the prophesied hero who can shout at the laws of physics to sit down and behave.

i hate the blades in skyrim, an old idiot who has some mad delusions of the blades being akavir dragonslayers (if this was the slightest bit true i think it wouldve come up...at least once in the past) that made the idiotic chocie of going to tamriel (a place that had no dragons) to kill dragons (which were all in akavir) and some [censored] who is using the old man to further whatever secret goals she has (which, judging by her attitude, cannot be very pure or good)

Agreed, The Blades quests and the conflict with the Greybeards was poorly written or poorly explained. Why should i kill a friend? Give me a good reason!!! He did some bad things a long time ago. BUT he has done and will continue to do good things in the future, why kill him? The Blades can go away and leave me alone unless they explain why a "person" should be killed because he did bad things a 1000 years ago.

hahahahaha the blades were originally dragon slayers from akavir, once they were on the verge of wiping the dragons out on akavir some escaped to tamriel, and the "blades" followed them. unfortunately now they are mostly worthless and deserve death at the hands(or claws) of mudcrabs.

yes, it does fit, but only just <_< and all the dragons (Every last one of them but the ka po'tun king who i believe was not a dragon at the time) were killed on akavir, none escaped lore-wise

The behavior of Delphine and Esbern makes me hope that Alduin took a detour over to Akavir to wake up his brethren over there. And that the freshly ressurected dragons get to the business of making a bunch of eggs. Then we can have Elder Scrolls VI: Summerset, because the rest of Tamriel has been completely overrun with dragons.

Just to make Delphine and Esbern spin in their graves.
