The thing is, this was for people who have NOT played the originals. That means they are getting a crappy watered down version of everything. I'm telling them they should buy the TRUE originals, hardcopies through online sites or other people. Like i said before, i got the original Doom3 for $5, and all the classics for something like $10 or 15, and that was with Final Doom included and the Master Levels.
This applies to the pc users. It doesn't apply to console gamers which were the main target audience for this release.
The old Doom3 port for Xbox was heavily cut in terms of map content and a Sony port was not in existence up to this day.
The BFG edition is sold with the "optimized for consoles" advertising slogan.
I understand that pc users are somewhat disappointed with the BFG edition but this product was primarily made for console gamers and also released on pc with the addition of VR support.
This is not the "ultimate collection of Doom games of all time".
As i said before: They should have set the marketing focus on the 3D/VR thing and not on the "collection" aspect.
Now, as far as 3D goes, I am not a fan of 3D off a monitor/tv. It does feel cheap. VR, though, I do think it's a revolution in technology. That allows you to be in the world as opposed to staring at a world through a window. I am very happy about VR in Doom3:BFG, don't get me wrong, it's just everything else they did wrong.
Totally understand your viewpoint but i actually prefer the good old view through a window, this time in 3d, over the total immersion of a VR headset.
I love to smoke a cig and drink my coffee while gaming. This would end up in total disaster when using a VR helmet.

But each to his own.
