Dragonborn DLC Exclusivity PS3 and PC Release Dates - Thread

Post » Tue Nov 06, 2012 4:16 pm

*At this point, we obviously don't know for sure if the DLC is Xbox exclusive, this is idle speculation, but it sure looks like the Xbox will get the DLC some time before the other platforms. Nothing is set in stone yet,*

There is also evidence to the contrary too; both Hearthfire and Dawngaurd's trailers end with the Xbox logo, Dragonborn's trailer does not. I don't believe this makes much of a difference though; personally, I believe we will see another situation like we did with Fallout 3/NV - even after the exclusivity deal expires, the Xbox will still get the DLC first. Take what you want from that.

Let me get one thing straight - to avoid people regurgitating that 'self entitlement' argument that has been destroyed time and time again - I am not annoyed that I have to wait, im annoyed because the communication/wording has been utterly terrible. So if you are reading this and planning on using said argument, don't waste your time.

There is confusion over the latest trailer. Essentially, the trailer implies yet another timed exclusive as it only lists the release date for the Xbox version in the description, as does the Bethblog post (December 4th), and does not acknowledge the other platforms. This is just a discussion regarding the DLC's release for PC/PS3 users so please; no flaming or raging (even though that is pretty tempting). Keep it civil.

Someone pointed out that Hearthfire was not marketed as a 'game add on' therefore, did not count as exclusive content; which is not true as It is listed as such in the description for the official trailer: 'Hearthfire, the next official game add-on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, will be available for download for 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE? on September 4.'

That begs the question; Assuming that Hearthfire was not exclusive why did we have to wait for a month (longer in the case of the PS3)?

Why make this thread? You have no idea if it is or isn't and all this thread does is cause flame wars and problems. Everyone should be happy that we just got news on the next DLC, whether you get it in a month or not who cares.

No, 3 of them are red. Saying that 2 of them are red when actually 3 are is a lie. It is the same thing.

okay, what about this.

Mike: "How many donuts will you bring to the meeting?" (How many DLCs will be exclusive)
Tom: " I will bring 10." (2)

Mike expects 10 donuts (2 Exclusive DLCs) to be brought to the meeting by Tom.
Tom then shows up at the meeting with 15 donuts (3 exclusive DLCs).

Did Tom lie? No, he did infact bring 10 donuts. But he also brought more.

Listen, I'm not saying it's right that Bethesda wasnt more specific in their wording. But they did not lie with their statement.

Given that the previous thread hit post limit in around an hour, I'd say a LOT of people are bothered over possible Xbox exclusivity.

please, everyone and absolutely everyone had understood that there was exclusive only in the first two dlc (and I hope so), and now many are looking for lexical problems and words, linguistic researches to see if intended only or probable, maybe or maybe not, interpretations of the hidden meanings of the sentence....

please .... two are TWO! if todd was uncertain, he would not said TWO ...

There is no doubt however about the bad... no, the absolute lack of communication by bethesda. to resolve the concerns would be enough 3 seconds on twitter.....

The initial announcement was that the first two would be timed exclusives. That does not include more than 2, ever. You can only have 2 first two, not 3 first two (really? we are going there now?).
If the 3rd is exclusive as well, it was part of another deal. Which we didn't know about. Of course, knowing about the first deal doesn't mean there is no other, but it was reasonable to asume that there isn't.

It's clear that plenty of people care. Try being on the other side of the fence for a change, maybe.

It most certainly is (at least) an xBox 360 30 day exclusive. This is not speculation it's fact. Due to the contract drawn out between Micro[censored] and Bethesda Game Studios(or was it Zenimax?), they had to provide two "Add-on" contents exclusive for 30 days. Hearthfire was not sold as an "Add-on".

Because people including myself, want to discuss it. What's wrong with that? This thread didn't cause problems last time, it was quite civil (apart from one guy calling another an idiot). If it comes to the point where people can no longer have a civil discussion so be it, let a moderator close it. Stop worrying about it. This thread helps to keep the discussion localised.

They said two. Not three, not two DLC and a DLC called an "add on". They said two and whether the word "only" was inserted in the statement or not is irrelevant. They knew full well that everyone would take it to mean two.

My guess is that Bethesda attempted to pass Hearthfire as the second exclusive DLC (which is why it had 30 day exclusivity), but it wasn't big enough for Microsoft. A win-win situation; Bethesda didn't lie, and it makes Microsoft the bad guys :hehe:

Where do they get the video from anyway? Is it given to them by Bethesda? If so, surely the info must have some credibility?

This is a bad deal for Bethesda because Bethesda will lose out on Holiday sales because they can only have this on 360 for 30 days.

Exactly the point I made. I don't see what is so hard to understand about that. You don't need to read between the lines.

No he didn't. He brought 15. 15 is not 10.

15 contains 10.

there is 10 donuts there. there is also 5 more.

It is a fact that TEN donuts are at the meeting now. just because there is an extra 5, does not take away from the fact that 10 donuts are there.

Its 1 2 3 4 5 ... if u say first two its 1 and 2. (even without only).

And its not AAAAA and even then the first two would be AA.

Since the only way to install Skyrim and its additional content is by digitial distribution than all add-ons are DownLoadable Content.
