Dragonborn Immortality

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 5:56 am

The Nerevarine is immortal, because of the Corpus. The Champion of Cyrodiil is immortal because of his/her new posting as the resident Daedric Prince of Insanity. (Or at least, I'd assume as much)

We need an expansion that lets the Dragonborn transcend the bonds of mortality, like his predecessors. He already can smith swords that can one shot Alduin.

I keep getting the feeling that the Dragonborn's story is far from over yet, I just want to see us follow in Tiber's footsteps in expansions and while they're at it, maybe oh... you know... give us a conclusive ending?

Except there aren't going to be any expansions. So, this is pretty much the ending.

Wut?
Do you have any proof whatsoever?
Because the last time I checked they said they were going to be making LARGER but FEWER expansions.

Well the last dragonborn became a [censored] divine, so I think the odds of ours gaining some sort of immortality are pretty high.

conclusive ending? as in, not being able to play afterwards? horrible idea imo, hope no expansion adds it

from what i hear Nerevarine is dead (s/he went to akavir, where all humanoids were killed by the tassac (save the ka po'tun), and the Nerevarine would most likely be killed there [my money is on eaten alive]), so not every character needs to live forever (daggerfall's protaganist is dead, and arena's i think) and there is no plasible way he could become immortal without taking tiber's way within the lore that i know (and chances for becoming a god are pretty low)

Nerevarine is alive, Vivec might be. I believe Dragonborn would ascend to some Shezzarine form of immortality... Though I imagine the expansion will be Tribumoon Isles of the Nine: the Quest for Horse Armor. <- Todd promised horse armor, even if there weren't horses!

As in an Ending where things are different afterwards, maybe you were rewarded, obtained some kind of status of power or title and be acknowledged, obviously you could still play but right now you may as well have done nothing and everyone treats you exactly the same, In Morrowind the Nerevarine was a holy figure to be respected and sometimes even worshipped, the Hero of Morrowind, the Champion of Cyrodil was praised as a Hero for aiding Martin and together saving the world from Mehrunes Dagon etc. etc.

The Dragonborn will live on forever in Sovngarde.

Personally, I would rather that the Expansion tell us that the Dragonborn is actually a descendant of the Septim Bloodline, if distant and obscure, and is made Emperor.

That is actually the character concept I used when building my character. Martin unknowingly knocked up some Nord chick in his wild youth, and Dovakiin is like the great great grand child of that.

Well "fewer" would mean 1 since we've only had 2 Expansions on each game, Both of Morrowind's were pretty damn Massive, Oblivion had faction Questline and then Shivering Isles, so we atleast had one proper expansion, though maybe Bethesda consider official DLC mods as Expansions too.

I don't see why the main character would become immortal simply for being Dragonborn.
Spoiler
The Greybeards even mention that there may well be other Dragonborn out there that they simply haven't met, or who are unaware of their 'gift'. It's not unreasonable to believe there are others out there.
You just happen to be in the right place, at the right time, to fulfil the prophecy.

Spoiler
actually wondered this too, at first I thought Perhaps the plot was going to end up being about fighting another Dragonborn who was aiding Alduin, but no.

Perhaps the Expansions will Touch on this "Potentially more than one" concept. One of the books mentioned that there were always atleast 2 Dragonborn at any given time, at least during the septim days.

And the Nerevarine was an Imperial agent in the right place at the right time which allowed him/her to assume the messianic role of a local religion.

Face it, our characters in TES are practically demigods. No reason why something shouldn't come up that makes the Dragonborn immortal. You're also forgetting that Alduin's wall says our characters are the last Dragonborn, that defeats Alduin forever. Soul absorbed and everything.

I don't think the Dragonborn needs to be Immortal but I really think they need to continue the Dragonborn's story.

He was referring to Talos, since I guess he was the last "Real" Dragonborn who actually got to use all his powers etc.

I've always imagined the Dragonborn as Talos II. Whatever, I doubt the Dragonborn will just ride off into the sunset.

Well, the Dragonborn has the soul of a dragon, and dragons are immortal, so that might be something. Also, you're very right; the MQ feels very un-completedy. Maybe the DLC will have, like, an invasion of Cyrodill or something. Destroy the Thalmor, reform the Empire, transcend to godhood and walk among men as a flaming symbol of your own might!

This, mainly because of how much they're throwing the whole Talos worship stuff at us from every damn direction, I do feel like we're going to end up walking his path, save the broken down Tamriel and reset everything to it's former glory.
